Rewiring the entire system as soon as possible and adding the Big 3. Vids/pics of wiring when I do it. |
Does this Blazer have the door speakers as well? Throw some 6" (if I recall right) components in there, and lub it. Went with that in our '98 Jimmy. Factory had a tweeters in the dash and regular door speakers in front. With out any subs, it's quite awesome for anything that's not showing off. 2 ways really help the rear seats too, stock speakers suck back there.
|
I was lucky enough to have a model that had 4x6 speakers in the dash, not tweets. :D
Anyway, the front doors are 6 1/2" and the back ones are 5 1/4" I'll be ordering them soon enough. |
As promised, a picture of the Blazer itself.

But, they don't care if I do this stuff. And don't pull the "pay them off before you pay for audio" because, well, my parents aren't making me pay them back for a while Anyway. Once I do, it'll be painted a flat black or flat gunmetal gray, and will be getting a lift (5" maybe?) with some 32"s :D edit- Oh yeah, getting 5% tint in the rear. Then, possibly 5% on the front windows, if not, then probably about 20% or 30% Still deciding on the windshield. Definitely not doing 5% on that, maybe 25% |
Just posting a picture I took earlier, thought I would throw it up.

|
Those look like some nice speakers. Looks like a clean install. I like it. ;)
|
Thanks for the comments guys.

Looking good on the inside, need to make a vid of that sound system going.
|
Or, you can use the 4 grand for an LS-swap.
|
+1 for tex's statement
|
Maybe I worded it wrong, but I said I will no longer be getting that 4 grand.
As it stands, I won't be making more than $1500. |
All your plans look good, except I'd get some dynamat and a crossover for your highs and mids. Why are you so partial to RF?
|
I've some FatMat (cheaper than Dynamat, works almost as good. Will have to double layer a bit of it) and I'm not getting crossovers simply for the fact that I'm getting P500-4 4channel amp soon, and I won't need crossovers when using that.
I'm using so much RF because I'm the type of person that likes to keep one brand throughout stuff. Except their subs are ****, so I'm using Fi, which is one of the 'better' quality subs on the market. |
I've been loving Soundstream for a while. Their mids/highs are comparable to Alpine type-R except they're cheaper. I've got fatmat all in my blazer, too. The setup that i ran is going for EQ more than bass, I mean, my woofer is an 8" Kicker CVR, lol. Good work so far, can't wait to see some DB.
|
EQ? I think you mean SQ.
In car audio there are 3 "classes." SQ = Sound Quality SPL = Sound Pressure Level And Daily Driver, which is a mix of the two, usually leaning more towards SQ. I'd say mine will be pretty much right now the middle, for now. But when I get the 18" SSD, it will be a little more to the SPL side. Also, yeah, I like Soundstream a little, but there's definitely better stuff for the price, even though they are relatively cheap to begin with |
SQ, lol...yes, I'm sorry. It's hard to run in SQ when your engine is louder than your stereo, though.
