Project: F150 truggy

Hello all,

This will be my second project and im looking to do something a little different. I had a pretty beat up f150 body and so i decided to use that. The chassis is the same as my Titan Crawler cause it is the only one thats working . So ill quit talking and get on with the pictures

Ima keep and eye on this.

Thanks. The rollbar is just a mockup as the final rear cage will be brazed. Im look forward to this project as i havent seen anyone do something like this. Also i have a question: Does anyone know where to get 1/24 scale offroad accesories?

Regards,
David

i'd start looking on ebay...project looks sick...color ideas or as is?...now i want to find another truck chassis and play around...cant wait to see future progress pics

xmods1993 10-17-2009 04:15 PM

Thats actually another thing i need help with cause i have no idea what i should do about color so if you have suggestions please let me know

some kind of orage-grey two tone would look nice as a truggy.
don't forget, truggy = buggy + truck, so you'll have to do stance-widening mods as well as increase the travel about 2-3 times the stock amount of travel or more, because that's the point of a truggy: off road bump and jump domination

orange sounds fun...i am partial to flat black for this sort of thing...have fun with it...

xmods1993 10-17-2009 08:29 PM

yeah im trying to decide if im goin for the show look or the im used look. What are your guys thoughts?

FloydfanYodaman 10-17-2009 11:41 PM

lol i choose weekend warrior, whats the point in having something that custom and cool for it to sit in a box?

FloydfanYodaman 10-18-2009 12:18 AM

i still say give it a cool/nice paint job...just take a dremel to it when you are done LOL ... if you were in Moab this would be a daily driver as well

CRAWLER KING 10-18-2009 09:08 AM

That looks sick!!!!!!!! I think that beat up look makes it difgerent. you did a good job on the back of the truck.

bondo 10-18-2009 10:15 AM

it's not the first one on here but it deffinately looks like a good start.
i can't remember off the top of my head who it was but one member made a full on exo-cage for his.

i partially side with floydfan about the paint.
do both.
i wouldn't take a dremel to it but there's no reason that you couldnt give it a decent single or two tone paintjob, find some waterslide decals and proceed to bash it up just like you would with a 1:1.

if you spray a basecoat of silver before whatever color you decide to paint it then when it scratches it will look even more realistic providing that the scratches don't go through to plastic.:bigwink:

if you ask the right people, there's all kinds of waterslides to be had and they'de probably be pretty cheap.

bondo i think it was XMODificator with his f150 redbull truck

amorton94 10-19-2009 09:44 PM

You mean xmodification? And I started one, but never finished. I'm starting to kinda get back into xmods. And I say do a nice paintjob. Cuz after you run it like it should be run, it will have that beat up look. Looks great so far. Keep up the good work and this should be great!
