Tablet Computing
Hello all!
It's been a very long time since i have had any real "activity" on here, so it's nice to drop by again :) Just curious if anybody has one of these? I'v had my Asus transformer prime (2) :roll_eye: for a couple of week and it crashes almost everyday now :( I know this isn't a tech forum but i was wondering what other people owned, Ipads etc :D Cheers Mike |
i got the iPad 2, its a blast! personally i think its just an oversized version of the ipod touch just with the 3G connection, never really had any problems either :D

Cool :D
It was either the Ipad 2 or the prime but in the end i opted for the prime :)
I'ts great and the graphics are awesome:roll_eye: ! but it does crash like i said :/ Thanks for the post! Cheers Mike |
I have a T105 Velocity Cruz.... cost me less than 100$ and honestly it sucks :) however it has taught me a lot about the android OS, modifying it and making it better / faster... and whilst I want an iPad badly it's just not on the cards right now so this does the trick for music / movies / web / email / etc.

Without sounding rude, I haven't heard of it :P maybe because I'm from the uk? But I know what you mean, it does the job for the essentials :)
And yeah, android is massively customizable hehe What version of android is it running on? Cheers Mike |
Whatever you do, don't buy an iPad right now. I have the original that I bought 16 days before the 2 came out (and 15 days was the cutoff to return it). So then I had to buy the 2 and give the original to the wife. In all fairness, B1G warned me to wait, but patience is not one of my strong points.

Have done, its running ics, I'll see if there's anymore updates later though :D
Cheers Mike |
what was it on originally ? if running froyo or gingerbread it may not be fully compliant with ICS
try it on honeycomb im not a fan of apple in general so have android on my phones and tablets even considering changing a laptop or two onto droid os |
Well it only came out a month or two ago, launching 3.0 (can't remember the name sorry) and everybody all over the world wanted to update as soon as possible to 4.0 (ics) so Asus sent out the promt so we updated but it seems like there's still a few bugs :/
But other than that, I recommend the Asus transformer prime to anybody :D Heck, maybe android will take over and become a desktop os in the future  Cheers Mike |
I don't own one, and it isn't technically a tablet, but I've been using my friends Kendle Fire, and wow! That little thing is quick. Very impressive in comparison to an iPod touch in my opinion.

all the hating on Apple, lolz :D

ahh yes sorry of course its on 3.0 honeycomb did you try updating to 3.1 or 3.2 ?
droid 4.0 ics is only a beta version on tablets at the moment although a full version is close this could explain your "bug" |

Now, you might think I'm obligated to tell you that our products are the bees knees, but that's just not the case. Honestly, the only ones we've released that were any good were the 400 series. Our upcoming 500 series are pretty nice as well, I had the opportunity to play with on in the office early. But, tablets aren't our forté, we specialize in gaming PCs. Tablets are just a side thing :P Anyway, I personally own an Asus Transformer (not Prime) and I LOVE it. I also own one of our 300 series tablets, and quite honestly, I have no idea where it is. |
I have a first gen 32gig iPad had it for over a year. I am waiting on the iPad3 then I'm gonna pic it up never had a issue with this one

absolutely love my Motorola Xoom....was 3G but they gave me a free upgrade to 4G and a free docking station (not that I have a tablet plan, bluetooth tethering to my Droid X or WiFi). I'm running rooted ICS and have an Otterbox Defender case.
I'm not an Ipad hater by any means but there are a few key advantages IMO with the Xoom: play movies in ANY format, no converting micro-sd card slot, I have a 32GB card in mine HDMI out port, true mirror image on my 42" USB port, I can add external or thumb drives, wireless mouse/keyboard, etc best mobile browsing via Chrome so much customization - Live wallpaper, multiple 'desktop' screens, widgets, etc plenty of apps and development Flash isnt a deal breaker for the Ipad but it's nice to have it working Maybe the customization thing isnt as big of a deal, but everyone I know with an Ipad is NOT jailbroken and they all seem stock and the same. The Ipad is def thinner and sleeker but it's not like you're gonna put these things in your pocket :) I do miss iTunes since I use that on my laptop and Ipods but just like Cloud, we have Google Music so all of my music is available to my Xoom and Droid X. anyway, I really like the Xoom, the Galaxy, and the Ipads....cant go wrong with any of those. Friend has the Kindle Fire and it is pretty neat too....I wasnt in love with the OS but it worked pretty well |
