Tutorial: How to install Racing Chrystal in Gen.3 Xmods
This tutorial shows you how to go from the pre-wired crystal on the new xmods to the plug.
Title says it all its a very simple procedure. What your going to need. -sodering iron -screw driver -old evo board -new chassie http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0338.jpg Unscrew the motor and cover and remove the back half of the car. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0339.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0340.jpg Desoder all the wires from the board. NOTE: important remeber there position, (i didnt as you can see if you have a shrap eye, i put the black and white wires backwards) http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0347.jpg Remove the old chrystal http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0348.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0350.jpg Take the old evo board and unscrew then remove the chrystal plug. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0344.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0345.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0346.jpg Cut a little from the two tabs on the chrystal tabs so the will sit flush with the board. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0351.jpg There is an existing hole on the new board where you should screw the plug onto. Then where the two tabs of the plug hit the silver pads where the chrystal was, put some soder to connect the two. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0352.jpg Reinstal the board making sure you put the wires where they belong. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0354.jpg Cut out the cover for esay access to the chrystal. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0355.jpg And tada! http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0356.jpg The two silver skylines together! http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...e/GEDC0357.jpg If u provide the parts needed (unless otherwise specified) i will be willing to preform this mod for you for a low cost |
very nice tutorial! and you might want to use a 15 watt iron so nothing gets fried, i dont know what the stock board can take but its nice to be safe.
