Blade.'s attempt at a 1:1....Project?

Well, not sure how this one will go, and I am open to all suggestions on EVERYTHING, and do I mean everything on this project.

Lets get down to the basic's, I wanted an xmod-truck, but living in Canada limited me to only being able to purchase the Generation 1 xmods locally while I still could. I dislike the prices of the X-Trucks on xmodsinternational.com (at the time when X.I. had them they were $99.99 each! Too much for a truck for me.). So, with the model body and chassis of a 1995 Dodge Ram VTS, (this actually goes way back, I wanted to make it into a working model, never got it too work.) after looking at Dr.Kustom's project I got hope to being able to make this actually work.

Pictures will be uploaded tomorrow afternoon, as I cannot get the pictures onto my computer the female part for my SD card is not working properly.

man sounds like it0 is going to be a awsome project

xmodsunlimited 04-21-2010 08:19 AM

this sounds like a great project, now do you have a x-truck chassis?

pinsk17 04-21-2010 09:25 AM

Sounds sweet man. Cant wait to watch the build. :)

Did he not say he was having trouble uploading photos? Might I suggest the following program before attempting to be a smartass?

Thanks.... Your the member in this case. If you realize, I wasn't on yesterday either. I went to go buy a new SD card adapter as the one I have been using before broke(good thing I had warranty on it.) then I went to get my parts I got from summit for my truck. Life > Toys.

Anyhow, back on topic. Here are the pictures, sorry for the tardiness.

The beginning.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/002-8.jpg
Ideal ride height.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/003-9.jpg
knuckles before one decided to break.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/004-10.jpg
Wish she was still like this, cause it would be so much easier.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/005-10.jpg
Simple, but very well made, suspension + shock absorber made into one.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/006-10.jpg
She's pretty big compared to the RSX.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/007-7.jpg
No control arms yet.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/008-7.jpg
beginning of the rear axle(will not be covered, the rear gears need to be MUCH smaller for a real 1:1 rear axle look sadly.)
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/009-6.jpg
DODGE! Also, you might be able to see mock-control arms.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/010-5.jpg
Steel-wiring keeping the mock-control arm in place.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/011-5.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/012-4.jpg
Both, attempts at the steel wire mock-control arm shots.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/013-4.jpg
Sorry for flash, only way to see the coil.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/014-4.jpg
Current ride height with no suspension or tires holding up the rear.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/015-2.jpg
Extremely blurry but, as you can see the plastic has been replaced with brass.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/016-2.jpg
Brass piping needs to be cut still.

She's coming along, no progress up to date sadly. Been too busy lately working on my S10.

Just pointing out, this isn't a 1:1 project.

1:1 = real full size vehicle.

dreamingISdrifting 04-22-2010 08:54 PM

I think he means like a 1:28 of a 1:1, I guess kinda like a scaler.

Blade. 04-26-2010 06:57 PM

Front end is finally done. No more flimsy steel wiring for mock control-arms, no more front end sag, nothing she is firm and sits where I want her too.

Only problem is that the new brass control arms sit at an awkward position, which limits the travel that the spindels/knuckles and travel over sadly.

Pictures will come soon, I have to go out and get my phone fixed, cracked the screen.

Looks sweet so far. Keep up the good work.

surgeon 04-26-2010 08:53 PM

I would suggest using the micro t electronics and battery as they are much smaller and would help save space. You can pick up a broken one for about 40 bucks off of ebay.

Blade. 04-26-2010 09:18 PM

Here's the pictures lol, and thanks for the advice here Surgeon. Do you have an exact diameter of the electronics, and steering box?

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/002-9.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/001-6.jpg

Quality sucks I know, 3.2 Mega pixels work lovely with the dark lighting...

I'll try and get better pictures later when I am doing the rear end.

dreamingISdrifting 04-26-2010 09:49 PM

Very cool, may I ask if this is going to be 2wd?

Blade. 04-27-2010 10:05 PM

Rear end is done, and yes she will be a RWD Truck.

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/001-7.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/002-10.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/003-10.jpg

This is the ideal plan for the driveline now...

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/004-11.jpg

lol, split driveshaft, etc.

She will have the Vper V-10 in her yes, but it won't be a full engine, I only going to use parts to cover up the motor that will be in her up at the front.

Latest of the pictures, using the donor phone, which in-fact doesn't take bad pictures for being a 2.0 mega pixel.

http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...oyer/001-8.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...yer/002-11.jpg

I'm re-doing the rear end, the sheet plastic will be too weak for the amount of torque, even if it's a small amount, to stay held together. I'll be using that same brass wiring that I used for the front end. It's strong, andwill be able to hold up to the torque... I hope.

Oh, and you can see that I finally have coils on the rear, which means that the rear suspension is finally done, and the chassis has been painted. Still need to paint the rear suspension however.

She's just need the steering linkages, and driveline finished. Then I'll find a place to mount the electronics, probably in the box as I have a tonuelle cover. Maybe though... I might try and hide it under the dash(if I can).
