Donziikid Photography: 'Yota Crawling:

The following are a multitude of videos and pictures compiled, edited and stitched together using Photobucket’s Remix option. The videos and images are of my Xmod Truck Toyota Crawler. The power behind this mini-beast is an HS55 servo modified to rotate a full 360* to simulate a motor. The gearbox has been beefed up with shims and full bearings to make it as tight yet fluid as possible, as well as the rear differential has been locked. The paint job is a simple flat black but it does have the added perk of functional lights. Sometime in the near future I plan on updating the paint to a camouflage style, redoing the steering geometry to remove all bump-steer and add a functional roof rack and brush guard.

I apologize for the poor focus on the truck, but you have to remember this is a 1:28th scale and I am shooting with a Kodak. Hopefully in the future when I have a better camcorder I can provide better video.

Please enjoy the video and images! All comments are wanted and appreciated!

I like it :D The car looks great, and I love how you kept the camera low keeping it realistic.

Body is fantastic, the little antennae is a great detail.

By the way, that thing kills rocks ;)

nice truck donzii, and nice crawling skills too...that spur gear looks HUGE. =) awesome video, and very realistic/scale environments.

Thank you for the comments, merc3des! :)

Too bad I can't take the credit for the body. Lol. It was a Xmod built by Dude. Awesome guy, gave me a great deal on it. Other pictures can be found in my showroom (Donziikid Showroom).

If you can believe it, the diffs are still open. I need to lock the rear and see what kind of performance gain I get from that. From my 1:10th experience, it needs a little bit more weight up front, as well. I think I have some left over Pine-Wood Derby weights in the basement that will work perfectly.

Cheers,
Kyle.

EDIT: Thanks, Suicide_Star. I actually pulled weeds to take those videos. It's my test spot in the overgrown flowerbed in the front of our house. It has a few good sized rocks for the Axial and a few smaller ones for the Xmods. I can't wait to get the Xmod up north and try it on a whole bunch of rocks.

I think I used the spur gear with 53 teeth, but it might be 54 teeth. It's one from the upgrade package which comes with both of those. So it's either or.

yeah i noticed the unlocked diffs when you tried going up that flat rock from the ground and the larger rock. it should help with stuff like that. it helped me. nice video too!

Just locked 'em. Should have some more video tomorrow. :)

Cheers,
Kyle.

www.Media-convert.com

Just popped in my head. Used to use it for my WOW vids, and RS vids.

I say music wise, go metal, I'm not a metal fan, just some stuff here and there. But it just seems appropriate.

If not, go with Higher Ground by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Thank you. Yeah, music's next on my list. Probably going to manipulate and make my own tracks using Fruity Loops.

And, I'm sorry, I don't understand the last part...?
