well i needed some rx's for a couple of the nitros. the sc8 and one nitro rs4. i'm in the process of revamping and upgrading the rc4s. so heres a few things i have so far.

comparison shot to xmods wheels. makes for lots of room in the rx box. unlinke the normal cramped area. will make installing fail safes a lot easier.

those rx's came out of an sc10

some more parts arrived and i was able to get the engine mounted with new pinion gears, might have to invest in some new spur gears now. now all it needs is an on off switch, a fail safe, and a battery holder. then i can do some testing. o yeah and a screw and some zip ties to hold the muffler in place.

i have one thing to say to you sir. man up and buy a savage flux with lipos. standing backflips son. or buy a stretched chassis savage x with a rb.26. garunteed you will get atleast 10 gallons threw ANY rb and it will still haul like new. your collection needs less traxxas and more hpi :P

not a big fan of electric larger scale rcs. with nitro i can run until i run outta nitro, which takes a while to run that gallon through it. vs having to spend a lot o money on lipos and only get to run it 20-30 minutes. and i actually have more hpi than traxxas. i traded my rustler to a guy for his nitro rs4. so i have 1 traxxas (tmaxx) 3 hpi (nitro rs4's) 1 redcat racing (tsunami) and 1 team associated (sc8)
i have had my tmaxx longer than my friend has had his savage. I bought mine second hand, his was new. lets just say that i am not all that impressed with how many parts he has had to replace on his savage. i have only had a few parts that have broke and it was do too how hard i drove it. carb body (threads were stripped on side), and the front skid plate (ripped it through the screws) so my 20 dollars doesnt even compare to his diff replacement, dog bone replacements, rim replacement, dog bone replacement, body post replacement. and i have ran more fuel through my tmaxx than his savage.
dont get me wrong i'll still probly have a savage before long because im getting a heck of deal on one, but i wouldnt go buy a new one.
and most traxxas parts cost less to replace than the hpi parts.

edit, dunno why but i always for get the 1/8 ofna buggy.

why get the hyper9 when u can get the kyosho mp9? the mp9 is more of a racing chassis aswell... but both come with a pricetag, cant forget the rc8 and 8ight either..

I like my ofna buggy. I don't have anywhere to race em so I doubt I'd shell out money on a more race specific chassis

i thought there was only one in georgia and that one had gone out of buisness. then this morning i found a forum for georgia r/c racers and learned that there are 12 offroad tracks and 5 onroad tracks :D lol now im definitly going to go buy a slash 4x4 and go play with the big boys :)

stang_racer 02-27-2010 02:39 PM

idk man. i used to be sponsered by my local rc shop and all we ran was savages for nitro monster truck class. some of the hpi fans that are nitro guys will know the shop. its pree well famous. high octane hobbies? youtube it and youll see the hell we put those truck threw. shop is closed now :( new owners didnt do so well. that and the first and original owner had some money him self that id imagine helded to keep the store afloat. ol well. anyways youtube high octane hobbies and youll see. savages can go threw hell.

also when i was racing my 2003 hpi savage 25. i had a stock chassis, with traxxas zombies and rpm offset wheels. thing ran great. dialed my shocks in to the point where it wouldnt bounce and she did amazing. also for your friend thats blown his diffs. tell him to put thicker oil in it and hell find he can get a limited slip diff from it, im talking 50 000 weight oil, the stuff you have to use pliars to squeeze the bottle to get it out. also litium grease in with the ring and pinion does wonders

the closest track is an hour away, the other is an hour and a half. and they are more setup for 1/10 and smaller trucks. i could run em there but i have more fun playing around here.

he used a really thick grease in his differentials. not sure the type, but when i saw it i was like well, definately provides good lubrication, and no leaking out of the case. im not saying they are a bad machine, just something i have been around that i wasnt all that impressed with. they have lots of power and all that. just seemed like it was always breaking.

and the culprit
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3522.jpg

put these revo tires on that i got a little while back. once she warmed up and i hit some dry areas on the tennis court. she wouldnt keep the front end down. it was a blast. and i'm still debating on fixing this ody vs buying another. lol

mycrors4 03-09-2010 11:43 PM

lmao.. nice one.. well at least u have a reason to upgrade the body now.. lol

zippo855 03-22-2010 12:37 AM

finally got this baby up and ready to fire up. all i need to do is get some nuts and bolts to secure the wing better. and a little bit of epoxy to reinforce a spot the body was cracked at.

well i took the rs4 and the tmaxx out this last week and had some issues to say the least
the rs4 ran like a striped *** ape until a tire came off the rim. and then when i went to restart it, it locked up and wouldnt roll over. ended up snapping the roto start bit in the process. and upon farther inspection i found this
primary roto start gear snapped in half
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3567.jpg

so i took out the tmaxx and it rolled over 3 seconds and locked up as well. and upon farther inspection i found this
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3561.jpg

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3564.jpg
one of the bushings on the 3 planetary gears on the ex start was smashed. the motor came loose a little bit, and the only thing i can think is the screw snagged it.

and i saw that my clutch bell was sitting at a weird angle and so i took it off and found this
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3573.jpg
whats left of the inner bearing

well i picked up new bearings today, and have the gear kit of the ez start ordered, and im going to put start on the rs4.

but amongst all this i did have something good happen.
this showed up for the sc8

glad to hear its a good tx setup. and as far as fixing it, the gears for the ez start are on order, im not puttin the roto start back on the rs4, it seems like it doesnt roll it over fast enough and just fills it with fuel. so im going to find a pull start in my spares and put it on, or maybe a tiger drive. dunno yet. but not a whole whole lot.

zippo855 04-13-2010 11:21 PM

alright, finally found some rims that i liked, and some tires to go with em, so heres some pics
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_3612.jpg
