Brushless Xmod update...

Well, I moved around a few things on the xmod, resulting in another incarnation of the beast. I rotated the kokam 90 degrees so it layed across in front, then mounted an HS55 on top of it. Now that the 55's in I realized how much of a POS the Mini-X servo was. The 55's lightning fast (can't imagine how fast the 56 is). receiver also went on top of the battery, and the ESC's kinda on top. The biggest change is swapping to the metal pinion with a sparrow adapter. It's a lot cleaner than my old design, but it flung bevel teeth out the minute I got on it hard. If only GPM could make metal bevels I'd be in hog heaven. Anyway, enough of my BS, here's pics.

That is the mamba xmod. It's using a Mamba 6800 brushless system.

Crunk, it's fast enough to drop any person's jaw who sees it run.

No, it's a brushless motor/ESC combo. The mamba is the big green motor and the ESC.

that thing must be a hand full to drive. does a xmodbody fit over that what kinda Rx did u use in that??

It is a handful. I can run it with an '04 Cobra body. The rx is a Mini-X one, though I plan on swapping over to an RC18T one soon.

did u make that CF deck/chassie? wow this is without a doubt the fastest xmod i ever seen. Are those powered by li-pos to?

No, it's made by Zero Products ( www.zero-products.com ), and sold at www.tinyrc.com .

haha, thats awesome, did you have to extend the antenna so you can reach further distances?

It doesn't use xmod electronics. The electronics I use have far more range.

Ummmmm, possibly make a new thread instead of just posting in one that has nothing to do with your subject?

welcome back viperdoubt and holy ****

gearhead 01-17-2006 07:59 PM

hey didnt you cancle the speed checker with that

hey if u dont mind i want to try and make a brushless powered car it will take till probly summer (cause of cost and thought) but i want to use the mamba 8000 its the same size (witch for u folk that dont know the # on the end is the RPM per volt) and im think'n ether 2 li-po or 3 li-ion

but that is alot of money the motor alone cost $100 the u need another $200 to suport that motor

Yeah, I did.

You can't use li-ions on this. They can't support the current draw. The motor combo is 100 (including ESC), but you need all pro electronics. You'll end up spending 400-500 bucks.

I also suggest not doing this with an xmod. It's nearly undriveable. I have far more fun with my M18 with the same motor combo and less li-pos. The M18 handles the power so much better. If I had known this is how it drives, I probably wouldn't have built it.

crunk rida 01-17-2006 10:35 PM

iv seen the mamba it goes 61.5mph thats fast!!!!

Goes faster than that in this. It's nearly impossible to drive though.

oddryu 01-17-2006 11:52 PM

what is a brushless motor? does is replace the main board and where can you buy one?
