Li-Po Battery and charger from Ebay: Supracing
Anyone bought this "kit"? I've heard some horror stories...
|
Which one, There's a couple. You didn't post a link.
|
i would also like to know about this.
i looked into the seller.. they usually sell good items. i would say the pack is good but i would get just the pack and a different charger. your going to overcharge the batteries and then they will vent. venting is defiantly not something you want to see happen. do your research before you buy. |
aw man, I bought the one that came with the charger... I wonder if I can soldier a deans connector on the input side of this and make it work with the charger http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/L...er__10040.aspx
|
if you do and then buy the charger at atomicmods.com then you also need to buy the 14.99 adaptor. the only reason i suggest doing that is so that you can know when your batteries are done and wont make em vent. you could always just twist the deans plug on. and then electrical tape it so that it holds nice. maybe even one of those fancy wire ties or wire connectors ya know? the ones that twist on.?
|
well this is the charger I bought... http://cgi.ebay.com/XMODS-EVO-HD-Lit...742.m153.l1262 what are my options? you wouldn't recomend me just plugging the lipo batt into this?
|
i would recommend you get the charger showed in your last post which has the LED'S personally im getting new lipos and thats what i will almost surely be buying. spend the extra 20 or whatever it is because it will work and im sure you can buy an adapter and just plug it in or wire it into he charger if the charger ports and the middle ports work. if you don't there is a much higher chance that your lipos will over charge causing ballooning ( expanding to eventual venting( highly flammable) and fire,) and then you will need to buy not just new batteries but then you will more than likely buy the charger from atomicmods.
|
If I have to buy another adapter for that charger I posted the first time I'd rather just buy the Dynamite LiPo Charger for an extra 5 bucks haha
|
your getting ahead of me. dynamite charger? .. do you have just a 12 volt power supply lying around.?
is the charger you just bought a 12 volt power supply? no the ebay charger and the atomic charger will NOT directly connect. if the ebay charger is 12 volt then i can show you how to make it directly connect using electrical tape, pliers, wire striper (if your not capable to do it with pliers) and the ability to twist your fingers. sorry bout the double post... but also if you want i can post a pic of a mock up 9 volt power supply with a custom end on it for my fan in my room, same concept except i didn't have electrical tape. |
I'm running multiple instances of Supracing's lithium kit and I never have problems. Doesn't the charger shut itself off when done? My light goes from red to green, and I've emailed him and got the same response, albeit a few days later.

What do you want a picture of? |
the charger i guess and where the led indicator is since the ebay picture sucks haha
to think of it... it probably charges the same way a cell phone would charge... is it possible for the AC adapter to stop or limit it's charging once the battery is fully charged? |
this is my mach up of what your essentially doing. as you can see each wire is first twisted to each other and then taped. USE ELECTRICAL TAPE! the tape i used fell off.
steps 1 you take the wires from the plug that goes into the wall and snip the adaptor at the end off. same with the other set of wires if they have one. 2 strip aproximately 1/2 to 1 inch of wire CASTING off. ( only the red, black or white parts. you want to have that inch or 1/2 inch of bare wire exposed. 3 when you look at the wire the ends look like frayed rope. take index and thumb finger and twist on all 4 NOT TOGETHER until each is more of a solid braid than a frayed rope. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...117092323a.jpg 4 than after finding out which end on the total white cord is positive and negative put the positives in an x and begin to twist them together. do the same with the negatives. IMPORTANT* if the poles of the current do not match up you have messed it up and is now useless. you will have to start over. * when they are both twisted together you will lay the wire to one side 5 use electrical tape ( only sticks to itself so wrap it tight and use a generous amount.) start wrapping one inch away from exposed wire and continue past one inch. make sure there is no bare wire exposed and repeat for the other pole ( pole: either the (-) or the (+) parts of an electric current. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...0117092323.jpg 6 check over tape again to make sure you did it correctly. 7 if your confident with your work than test it. if not. email me a pic of the final result and i will tell you if i think it looks good. sorry for double posting but.. that was the worst tape job of my whole life. |
haha it's ok man... if it was a permanent fix for me then I would have soldiered it and shrunk wrapped it... as long as it keeps the wires from touching then you're straight! :)

I don't usually play mod, but at this rate, you'll be banned before next month.
I don't see the point in taking a picture of a small led. It exists. All 3 chargers I've bought have it. The charger knows to shut itself off otherwise I wouldn't be here right now. Handel the batteries and charger with caution and you should be safe. |
rsx racer... did you mean me... ill be banned? D:
|
i'm just being skeptical of the Ebay seller because I read otherwise...
