Nice, my grandpa has a 2005/2006 Cobalt SS and he says it hauls compared too the bone stock cobalt. Has stiff suspension for cornering, good acceleraton & speed. But I think his bodykit is a little bit different than yours? Not really sure though.

But the color looks nice on it.

Is it supercharged?

I don't think the SS cobalts are supercharged. I think they are sporting a beefier four cylinder.

supraboi97 08-15-2010 11:32 PM

Actually I think it is the SS thats supercharged. My friend has a red 06 ss and its supercharged. However later they came turbo or super. But pretty sure his is supercharged.

pinsk17 08-15-2010 11:42 PM

It is supercharged. Only the 09-10 one's have a turbocharger.

Nice, don't the SS have different spoilers though?

Blade. 08-16-2010 12:05 AM

The Chevrolet Cobalt SS has a different bodykit, and spoiler.

Looks good, but it's no SS Cobalt. The spoiler looks like one from an LS package, body kit from the standard basic Cobalt, doesn't look like you have the proper sporty like interior the SS comes in. Your SS badges are actually wrong, the SS badge on a Cobalt has a little line under it. Unless you can show me proof by engine terms I will believe you, and proper documentation that it is an SS, that came from the Chevrolet Dealership.

-Edit- It's ok if you break the IMG Codes Mods/Admins, I got the pictures off of google.

Thats what my grandpas looks like, so his is a real SS. But his is the year that they didn't supercharged them.

Also what your saying is true about his Cobalt, not trying to dog civicblack10 about it but the spoiler is wrong & so is the front bumper, it should be sitting lower to the ground too. Althought the rims look like the one from the SS, not sure if they are the same for all models of the Cobalt?

TheB1GDude 08-16-2010 08:59 AM

The SS models come with different engine packages, 2.0L SuperCharger or 2.4L NA, or as mentioned a turbocharger in later years which I think also came with the 2.0 L engine.

If they are the supercharged models then they have a little supercharged badge under the SS logo which this doesn't appear too however that doesn't mean it isn't an SS model as there may have been the option to remove the body kit.

Additionally looking at the pictures the majority of the body kit and the rims appear correct, it is just the spoiler that is missing so maybe the original owner chose a spoiler delete / replace when they ordered the car, big ricer wingers aren't for everyone (my excluded :)) so I would say this is the 2.4L SS model.

If you post a pic of the engine we will have the deciding factor on what trim the car is.

+1 I have two friends with cobalts one an 06 not sure the other. Both SS one came with the bigger wing the other came with the lower one. The one with the lower one is a stage 2.

Ok, i knew there would be a big war over supercharged or not, just to clear things up, B1G is right, @Blade, Yes, it is a legit Cobalt SS. This is the Cobalt SS, not the Cobalt SSC (ss supercharged) the SS like mine has 17'' rims compared to the SSC with 18's in addition, it doesnt have the small supercharged badge under the SS and it has the low rise wing instead of the big spoiler, It is NOT a ls or base model with badges. This is a SS cobalt, It has the higher output N/A motor that pushes 171HP :) the supercharged cobalt was too much on insurance, for me being an 18 year old male, i also have to pay for college, phone bills, all that fun stuff. almost forgot to mention, it is a 5spd :D
