Havent messed with xmods in years.......

Hi everyone im rcrandy88. Ive got 5 Gen 1 cars about 10 bodies and most of the original upgrades. Back is high school I was really into xmods. I eventually moved on to Mini-t's and rock crawlers. These xmods have been boxed up for a few years. I recently got them out and found this site. Im looking to build the hell out of one of them. Where should I start any suggestions? All Gen 1's and several are pretty much brand new. Ill post pics soon!

I would start with checking the solder joints and plastics on the gen ones because the are 6-7 years old then pick out the best looking one

I would start off by doing a mini z or micro t board swap
It is the most useful
Then go for motor tires and maybe 4wd

EDIT silver supras are ultra rare and why is there a blind sticker on it.... i hope you werent into fingerboarding before this i was too and now i regret it

rcrandy88 08-13-2011 08:14 PM

oh no! That silver supra doesn't have a scratch on it got the complete body kit too. I thought the white supra was hard to find than the silver. I believe ill go with the micro-T board. Ive picked out my best car and started the tear down!

A good choice would also be to use the micro servo because it's much better, but it needs to be custom fit

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 07:19 AM

Need to get some parts ordered.......

Coming along very nice

And FYI you need a different 27 MHz controller to use these electronics get a mini z losi or even if you have a 1/10 scale as long as it has a crystal

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 11:38 AM

yea thats no problem ive got a 2.4 ghz that will work nice.

AntxmodMiniz12322 08-14-2011 11:40 AM

2.4 won't work on a micro t broad.....

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 11:49 AM

oh well i also have a Venom that will work

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 12:04 PM

would mini-t electronics work i know the motor wont fit but would the electronics work with the smaller micro motor?

AntxmodMiniz12322 08-14-2011 12:06 PM

I think your looking at the micro t brushless esc I was talking about the stock one

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 12:12 PM

I have a esc for a mini-t I was wondering if it work with the xmod size motor?

AntxmodMiniz12322 08-14-2011 12:14 PM

Yes it will but a 1/18 size esc recover and servo may not fit

Also do you have skype so I can message you it's easyer

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 12:18 PM

I dont have skype..sorry I have a Mini-t and I switched to brush-less a few years ago. I still have stock electronics I used a HS-55 servo on it. I may do some experimenting and see what I can come up with....lol

That's a link to how prepare your chassis for a micro t board

Only problem is you may not have enough volts In 4 aaa you need like 7.4 for those electronics you need to get a lipo upgrade or get a micro t lipo

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 01:20 PM

ok so i converted it to AWD and then went to work on my old mini-t esc

Had to solder some new connectors on the xmods motor. The mini-t board is alittle big but I can work with it and it works. So I believe ill go with it for now instead of the micro-T board. If I use what I got ill save $$$. Still need to get a servo and get the steering working. I also need to get the lipos ordered and some bearings.

AntxmodMiniz12322 08-14-2011 01:47 PM

Try to get a smaller servo or else you won't be able to turn slowly the bigger servos are too fast

rcrandy88 08-14-2011 01:56 PM

Where can I get carbon fiber parts?
