Here's my new take on my white car idea, starting out clean and will cover her in very nice black tribal/cursive gfx from Prostreet.

I might finish her up tonight or early tomorrow since I have the layout of the gfx done and the rest of the details are fairly quickly to paint/draw/apply.

okoye 12-26-2008 05:57 PM

paint theeee carrrrr

Spoon_Tuner 12-26-2008 05:59 PM

That's pretty cool dude.

Those Mini Z bodies get a little hard to paint sometimes, but so far I think the 350z one has been the easiest. Awhile back I had a old school Megatron themed 350z you know the lite gray and tid bits of purple and black. It was sweet! Most of it was rattle canned and then some paintbrushed. I should of took pictures so that I could show you. Since your into that Japanese Anime stuff. But another white body I think is hard to paint without an airbrush is the RX-7 FD type.

I''ll keep an eye on this project.

Skv012a 12-26-2008 09:31 PM

I don't want to hear a single easy on this one LOL. Its driving me nuts to work with the enamel marker I have to line the window frames (from the inside, you'd think its as easy as easy gets, right?). It either has no paint coming out or it spews a blob all over the area you're lining while being used with the tip pointing upwards!!! I've wasted a decent amount of Q tips, alcohol, and paper towel cleaning this thing up. At any rate, I'll finish paint work by midnight and jump onto stickers.

XMDrifter 12-26-2008 10:23 PM

stickering the thing just doesn't seem right to me.
and if it's a reace queen, then the stickers are just gonna be beat up and shredded.
races reallly beat on the cars. especially the 4 corners of the car. i think you just need some detailing on it and you can call it a day.

Skv012a 12-27-2008 12:47 AM

You'll see, plus stickers will help protect the body in races. Nothing like FD with over-the-top manufacturer ones.

Here come clean pix, gfx will be tomorrow:

I love 350z's! Probably a noobie question, But whats with the black lines? It looks very cartoonish.

xmodzracer 12-27-2008 09:37 AM

its just his style of painting based on the japanese cartoon Gundum (sp?) basically yes it is supposed to be cartoonish.

okoye 12-27-2008 09:54 AM

nah he says the cars look plain and less realistic without them....but im trying to beat him up and tell him that the car needs colour.

xmodkidd33 12-27-2008 11:28 AM

He did his RX-7 the same way, I think it's cool that it's different.

outlaw 12-27-2008 11:53 AM

Slick little car.

Spoon_Tuner 12-27-2008 01:02 PM

This actually doesn't look that bad at all. Neither did the Rx-7

You have inspired me to create another old school Megatron themed 350z with the whole marking up the body lines. Now if I could find one.

It looks like what you have done to yours, it looks easy but I don't know a thing about enamel markers? I haven't even heard of them, and I took 4 years of art in high school.

Skv012a 12-27-2008 01:59 PM

Z allowed thinner lines than the RX7, so it actually looks pretty good. Besides wanting an anime/manga look, just plain white looks bland and lines are the only thing that you can do to highlight the car.

As far as window lining Spoon, is pretty easy, but I chose an akward way to do it this time (and a faulty marker at that), thats all. Just takes a steady hand and etc.

Today I'll sticker this babe up for the completed project.

M0DEL 12-27-2008 02:08 PM

Ooo, looks nice! :]

Gotta love having a unique style, hehe.

I have to agree. Someone posted about doing that (not sure if it was SKV012 or not) But it helps ALOT with making the body look like it's a toy.

Sorry dude, that's just opinion and im bringing it up because I remember being very strong against doing that. But don't let that bother you, whatever you like I say do it. It is a cool car and I like it white and the wheels are sick. Cool to me otherthen the lining

It would be cool if you made it a Gundum themed car and put some Gundum decals on it. I could make some for you for free. Just PM me if you are interested and ill mail them to ya.

Skv012a 12-27-2008 03:47 PM

Gundam I'll defenetly consider when/if I get an airbrush. Stickers are my speciality, but thanks for the offer of decals.

Panel line preferences are fine, I'm not doing these to please everyone lol. Another reason for it is because I am a big fan of Initial D and the games, where cars are made to look like real and drawn at the same time. A third is that I prefer technical sketches over full-color drawings/paintings, so lines are the way to go when there are areas that would be drawn with lines vs remain plain.

Now to get started on stickers. I might post several collages to see what everyone thinks is the better of the bunch. Stay tuned.

Spoon_Tuner 12-27-2008 05:07 PM

You would love Auto Modelista for PS2 by Capcom. It was sweet in the day.

Skv012a 12-27-2008 05:58 PM

Might try to DL it sometime even though I'm heavy into ProStreet and IDES atm. I think I remember what it was and it did look pretty interesting.

XMDrifter 12-27-2008 10:13 PM

-.- it looks like crap....BECAUSE your panel lining job was bad. redo the panel lining cleaner and it might at least look like a machine did it.

not to be overly offensive, but stickers just scream RICE RICE RICE RICE RICE, and the stickers aren't gonna protect the most hit parts, the corners of the bumpers.

and for some reason, those headlights look like crap as well.

and then again... a race queen doesn't have to look good.
somebody once said "don't care how good your car looks, if it can't beat me, it's crap"

Skv012a 12-27-2008 10:25 PM

If you look at it point blank, alotta things look bad dude. Show me a good lining job instead of empty flaming.

Now whats wrong with headlights exactly? They accomodate LEDs when I convert a XM kit to a Z, so holes aren't there for the hell of it.

As far as ricing it- I think Zs perform hella well in the first place, so some deco never really hurt anything. Better motors will follow my 2.4G chassis since they have pretty good stock FETs.

lol, you did not go there. Seriously, i doubt he asked for your "Oh so constructive" critism. Why not elaborate and tell him which kind of method he should choose to line his cars? Rather than trying to make yourself look better.

GL skv!

Skv012a 12-29-2008 12:14 AM

You don't really get a say in a style you never did nor will even attempt, XMD. I prefer not to paint and thus I have no say in how others paint their cars (unless its just aweful, since I've done plenty of model kits and miniatures that I can gladly post).

Stickers are a little bad looking. But I think we are talking about decals with wet transfer paper. They look good and go around anything, they look painted if you do them good.

okoye 12-29-2008 12:22 AM

yea skv012a's panel lining may be something you guys arent used to get over it... he has his style you have yours.

XMD if you dont have something good to say dont even think of laying your fingers on the keyboard...

Skv012a 12-29-2008 12:25 AM

XXX, he sadly meant in general. Stickers look just fine and help protect the body, so I'll stick to those insted of doing decals. Only time they'd look bad is when body is flat and sticker is shiny/glossy, but its not the care here.

XMDrifter 12-29-2008 11:42 PM

holey crap i didn't even know how much negative was here...
>.< can't think about what i'm gonna type here with my mom screaming and my dad bein' a cheater...

i'll try anyways.

i didn't mean to sound totally like and a-hole there. i'll try to tone it down in the future.

the car looks good, but i still think your panel lining could be better.
the decal, i don't see a point to it since it's a race queen instread of a show car.

panel lining i think should be done by "blackwashing." you take thinned out black paint (like watery acrylic) and put it in the seams, then wipe the seam with paper towel. the black stays in the seam and the excess is swiped away.

skv, i ask that you please forgive the other post.
something tells my (obviously) that i've been pretty darn biased against you, so i'm not gonna be doing that anymore.

but really, saying i have no style...and not even bothering to look at any of my past works...you got nerve bud.
but that nerve comes pretty useful at times. just not now.

he isn't talking about waterslides. he's talkin stickers..like...well..stickers

but i think he should just replicate the nismo Z. the one that's silver with the stripe graphic along its shoulder crease and a corner graphic on the hood:
http://www.aussiemotoring.com/pics/Nissan/nismoZ.jpg

Skv012a 12-30-2008 12:03 AM

Could buy that Nismo Z, no point in turning a blank body into one. As far as inkwash, I would had The car been painted and a different color, so in case of any mess I could just paint over and move on. At any rate, this thing looks good on the track with darker lines. Alot of plain white bodies look like a big blob and I'd rather line it with a marker at the very least.

If anything, stay tuned for my camo Battle Machine I'll paint either in the next few days or when I get a suitable, stock body to mess with. My only spare Veilside S2k has waaay too much goin on to fit that project, so I'll probably turn her into something simple and unique.

Hunty 01-02-2009 03:25 PM

This Guy/Lad dose some niceeee cars :P

Skv012a 01-02-2009 05:33 PM

She's done, mounted on 2.4g AWD with 0Ns and drift tires. Check first post.

Big Micke 01-02-2009 05:37 PM

ooks clean bro, a master piece, any light kit for it? Hope you post some vids. of her in action.

Skv012a 01-02-2009 05:53 PM

Once I get a hang of drifting her, defenetly. Lights-wise, I'll adapt Xmod kit eventually, hence the drilled holes in preparation for it.

Tmaxxn3 01-02-2009 06:05 PM

pretty pretty pretty i like the gold wheels with the monster lips put them back on

Skv012a 01-02-2009 06:25 PM

Those were temps for this babe 'cuz they're from Porsche 934 and look akwards due to their offsets. I personally like the stock AWD rims, but I am getting a set of aluminums sometime next week.

S2k Racer 01-02-2009 06:37 PM

OMG that looks kick ***.

Skv012a 01-02-2009 08:30 PM

XMDrifter 01-02-2009 09:57 PM

now i can't tell if you're a guy or girl.
lol jk

looks pretty nice, but i think the stickers could've been printed with sharper outlines.

Skv012a 01-02-2009 11:18 PM

Sadly, I had to touch them up afterwards; they came out too sharp and pixel'y. That and I had to retouch half after resizing, so this thing took quite a bit of time and eyesight lol.

Stampedekid 01-03-2009 10:26 AM

As I said on AIM, very nice. Wait, so are you using drift slicks or plastic tires?

Skv012a 01-03-2009 10:44 AM

Drift slicks are plastic :D

merc3des 01-03-2009 10:48 AM

Very nice, although I am not too crazy about panel lining, you do it well. The tribal graphics are nice too.
