You have to disconnect the red power cable on the esc before plugging it and the bec into the rx if you don't then there's some sort of low level battle for which one is providing the power and the stuff catches on fire... So think tron but with fire rather than light bikes :)

ive plugged in both, the BEC has a protective cut off. it wont work if the other is plugged in. not sure if they've changed their BEC since then.

I went off of this guy:

As I wasn't using a Phoenix HV controller I did not disregards what it told me to do....

the red wire needs to be disconnected for the BEC to work, but im not sure if they still have the protective cutoff in their BEC. some people have had issues with it.

TheB1GDude 07-16-2013 02:47 PM

Well either way mines is disconnected so all is good.

So here is where I am at currently... having a running RC is boring right? I think we would all agree with that... so for the next part of the build:

Also put better wheels nuts on it... threaded nylon Traxxas ones....

I am super happy with the exterior!!

that looks SICK
if you dont mind me asking, which paint did you use for the cage?
It gave me some ideas to make things orange ;)

TheB1GDude 07-25-2013 09:46 AM

Thanks man! Was just regular old Krylon... I think the color was Royal Orange.

ah come on... you were going to be the first person I asked... I'm already having second thoughts on it now I've added up the costs for this bad boy....

OK so my lipo pack came in... I'm no longer sure this is even what I ordered but whatever... I ordered a Gens Ace pack that had an original retail of $89.95, a regular price of $59.95 and a sale price that day of $29.95.. I didn't think it was a hardcase pack but apparently it is hence why I'm not even sure if it's what I ordered... anyways Gens Ace 5000mah 2s2p 65c LiPo battery pack:

Because of the price I snapped it up plus it came from a US seller so was here in 3 days... I don't yet have my charger... the intent is to order that later today but I am slammed with work right now so we shall she.

Need to solder my bullet connectors on it but I'm close to the Exo being a runner.
