So for the real world, the mountain as calved a mouse! :dh) Only good news is the 1/24 scale! Stupidity level! Absolutly toy grade with no upgrade and stupid child bodys. Well i will buy the evo series now..on ebay, for my final projects on brushless from the VE miniz's! :rockon2: End of story PS: But wait and see in person... i could be wrong... but that photo says it all...[/QUOTE] sssssssss..ouch :-? where do to begin? |
Whelp. That was disappointing.
|
Extremely disappointing, was really looking forward to these.
|
Now I am wondering why they called them xmods. If those pictures are real then these have no connection to the xmods line.... what did they try to just get us exited?
|
Well we shall wait and see. Hopefully its not as bad as we think it is.

What if the picture is Photoshopped?
|
i saw somewhere that they were going to be more similar to Mini-Z so the bodies might not be on par, but lets see what becomes of the chassis
|
^ yeah if the chassis/electronics are decent, there is always the option of a model body conversion. Just would be really nice if they came with realistic bodies.

-That pic's looks true real phone taken. So no Photoshop here! Quote:
Where did you read that? If they are going to be similar to min-z, i think i now know the hole thing... Let me tell a story... Some years ago.... Carson the European company that makes "xmods" for Europe released a so called new xmods that called x-24 and removed the xmods name. In pic's they are similar to min-z's.. There were only 3 body's. -Porsche 911 -Audi R8 -Lamborghini They were 1/24. That's it... probably http://minizworldblog.files.wordpres...07100_02-1.jpg http://minizworldblog.files.wordpres...07100_03-1.jpg http://minizworldblog.files.wordpres...07101_00-1.jpg http://minizworldblog.files.wordpres...07100_00-1.jpg http://minizworldblog.files.wordpres...07102_00-1.jpg http://www.mini-z.ru/wp-content/gall...x_x-24_000.jpg http://www.mini-z.ru/wp-content/gall...x_x-24_007.png The molds are done, so easy copying and easy cheap making without more investigation and rearsell's... |
holy... smack..

i remember.. the rivalries between xmods vs mini-z(s).. good time  these can't be new xmods... these aren't cheap enough of Radio Shack :bigwink::nod: |
Looking at that picture for a while I noticed the word Xmods, is pixelated and nothing else is. I also noticed that all the other text is blurred......

One good thing is the lipo set....I feel like that has 2 cells inside the plastic shell that will fit well on an evo
Edit: they probably aren't really lithium polymer and I calculated the speed of the 1/16 with the high speed motor and it's a whopping 8.887 mph. The car clocks in at 6.3433 wow. I also love how iT says "back by popular demand" this is a joke |
Give me that e-mail by pm... or send them this:
-Make tires and rims changeable like the older xmods by heir own kits and do not forget that it sure can put miniz tires or rims (they will make a fortune on that) -Release a 4wd kit (that is essential) -Release bodykit's -Have a separateve servo or at least like the evo/street version with better potenciomter's. That was the essencial keys for the sucess of xmods... That pod wil include rims and tires and motor is killing me.... MAKE THAT SEPARETED... that was the sucess of the older versions... why this? make 15$ a piece 3 times... not a rubish 15$ all together like a baby toy! Please send them this... please... maybe on the next batch they will correct it! |
I think we need mass email radioshack.....
|
at least i get a free one

They should stop producing that "new toy" and on the next batch releasing the EVO series or Street series with the same upgrades they had.... at LEAST. Or something new but with that style inspired... otherwise they will not sell well at all. This is the e-mail i sent them: Hello! I live in Europe and have several X-mods from Radioshack(USA), Carson(EUROPE) and HPI(JAPAN). Hey, Earth is a small village nowdays! :) I got 35 years old and started xmods 1/28 scale years ago. I build an home track at home it's 10metersx4meters in carpet for use with xmods and miniz's. What bring the atention to xmods in the first place were the price compared to other brands like KYOSHO (mini-z's) a real world at least in RC world (hobby grade). But like the price the inumerous upgrades that in stock form xmods had. The important upgrades are: -4x4 upgrade kit -Bearings -Rims and Tires (Special the option to use the miniz's upgrade tires) -Bodykits for the body's -Suspension tuning -Cars & Trucks Those are in stock form (radioshack), but aftermakert companies take over and biuld alloy pieces for the xmods, gen1 or evo series. And that was awesome.... a perfect thing, the next step to make xmods a real hobby grade. I remove the stock electrics on all my xmods and put hobby grade like miniz boards or losi micro boards on all x-mods i have. To many people do that to... to make them a real RC. And that was fantastic...but we are all in good hopes for the new line of xmods for 2013. But for the pic's released this time.... you are releasing only the name "xmods". That is very toyish and the enourmus community all over the world will say the same.... Come on.... -No 4x4 upgrade? Yes make the cars 2wd but make make an option to evolution.... -Bearings.... essential upgrade to bushings, and that is hobby grade land.... -Rims and Tires... each track carpet or RCP or each floor (concrete, aspalth, wood, etc... needs diferent quality tires)... even if you make them there is the upgrades one from aftermarket companies for the miniz that fit the other xmods generations! A MUST! -Bodykits for bodys... in this you did it right. Why change a winner team? Every kid and adult loves to change the look of their ride... Like Overhaulin/Chip Foose. -Suspension... diferents springs rate and so on.... This are the basic that if the new xmods do not have, they will be sended back and sit tight on the shelves, and only a 3years old child could scream for parents to buy it! ONLY! Please... try to make the next batch of xmods at least like the STREET version or EVO Series. I have some video from youtube that you should see till the end... I am concerning and helping you to win easy money.. and make us the comunity of xmoders all over the world happy. Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtQg0BulDsQ -Generations of xmods http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdTQ7b1zlm4 -Some presentation of an xmod!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMGlGcOE_tI -One xmods truck with a miniz board. Adult hobby grade feel on an xmod! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbi6H4DSSmo -My Honda Civic Gen1 xmod with losi micro board AM 27mhz and full alloy upgrades http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWyBj_rOWLE -My Nissan GTR Gen1 xmod with all aftermakert alloy upgrades and 2.4ghz miniz board http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrOtmsz64lM -My Evo Lancer with some alloy upgrades, some Radioshack upgrades and 2.4ghz mini'z board. And so on.. that i lost count! :) Last xmods were a serious evolution toy that any 12year kid want to have and make upgrades on them from radioshack units , and 20years old folks and 40years will grab to make upgrades with the aftermakert brands to make it hobby grade. Making xmods toy level with no option for those basics i say... it is a shoot in the foot Radioshack! Ok. Hope Someone will read this and see the videos! Thanks for making the last xmods. It was been wonderfull! |
wow... this some decent info on the new Xmods
base.. on the pix above.. I think that it's.. "What u see is what u get" looks like RS didn't get anyone to License this new line..... so, we r going to be stuck w/ make-believe car for "bodies" |
I'll take the candy

Just got an email saying they are shipping it out... :D to those on the email list
|
Mine should be here tomorrow. I'll post pics and do a comparison/writeup to see how you guys feel about it. They supposedly want our input for improvement on the Xmods. I'm sure they'll hear a lot of stuff they don't want to.

we get the beta models. |
Maybe I missed it, but what is the price point on these going to be?
|
$59.99 for the 1/24
$69.99 for the 1/16 |
So ten bucks inflation for what looks to be less quality.

xmods were $60 before they were disconitued |

So far:
Pros- Very responsive Good suspension geometry Range isn't terrible Cons- With the regular rear end and AA batteries, it's terribly slow When turning the wheels, lock to lock, the front lower A arms wiggle on the metal rods that hold them in place. I can see that wearing out Regular rear end doesn't have a differential, it's full time posi I'm afraid to jump anything with it, because the front and rear slide into the main chassis, and lock in with 4 screws. More to come this weekend. https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...14442096_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...88746328_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...58147328_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...23749539_n.jpg https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...55109790_n.jpg https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...03235573_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...15742218_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...47012488_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...94508252_n.jpg https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...39000809_n.jpg https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...09627080_n.jpg Video of running with the new motor, on a stand. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...8¬if_t=like Rear end breakdown: https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...04439812_n.jpg 370 size motor. https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...75606395_n.jpg Rear gears. Why would the gear it up so high? A bigger pinion and a smaller spur would add ATLEAST 50% more speed....
|
So, the spur gear is obviously waaay too big. AA battery pack and Losi Frenzy 370 motor:

What spur gear are you talking about?
