Chevy1500 454SS vs Tiburon

Here is a video of my buddies 1993 Chevy1500 454SS racing my friends tiburon from a 20 mph roll, the tiburon has minor modifications pushing about 220hp at the wheels, the 454 is pushin about 420hp my friend dusted him once he hit 3rd. I was the one recording it. Tell me what you think.

Too bad the 454SS came out at the Gov'ts strict fist. They were a tad weak for a 454 Ive heard stock, but it took next to nothing to free the 454 of its de-tuning. But go**** I love them, ahahaha, they are so mean, even stock. 0-60 in like 7 seconds or so? Great for a truck of its time. Not too many of them in white though. Next time Im in Austin, Ill get pics of the one next to my god parents.

Try some shorter gears in the rear and that sucker will get it at the line too :p Love these Chevy trucks

and hes got the rims I want for mine... the rally wheels with the chrome trim ring around the inner rim.... they look so good

3rd gear is magic on this transmission, I just thought about it. This truck, and our GMC Jimmy both use the 4L60E, 4 speed auto w/ over drive. Any time ricers screw around behind us on back roads, engine brake it until they goto pass (opposite lane). Typically they can keep pace and/or catch up to the GMC , but once it hits 3rd, they drop back, fast....

Im thinking too much, haha...

But, in any case, 454 SS-420hp Vs Jimmy-180hp..... Ill keep lil blue in the garage on that one. :lol:

theres a big offset in power between those two vechicles, its really a no brainer that the GMC would win, the tib is giving up over 200hp

my tiburon probably has about 200hp right now, after i get my headers installed it should be around 220

Yea no joke texan, once he hit thrid is when we passed him. It wasnt running too good there, but its got some work done to it, ill get a list soon. Its also got a shift kit, so when it shifts it makes the tires chirp. Its badass, hes getting a 502 RAMJET in it soon, its also horrible on gas. I have a video of him racing from a dead stop and he blew him out of the water, the tiburon wasnt even close. Ill upload it later.

As a technician of 6 years and as a former Hyundai Dealer technician(my first 2 years of wrenching). I can honestly tell you that a tib with the 2.7liter stock only makes about 180 HP at the crank on a nice cool day. I highly doubt that a "slightly" modified engine is putting 220 HP to the wheels. It would be hard to put 220 to the wheels with the inter-cooled alpine blower.

I have to disagree with you Hyundai makes a good car. They are very reliable and they are not very expensive. But the sales speak for them selves for example they out sell the highly over rated Honda company.

Gm new V8 with active fuel management or displacement on demand they can get up to 28mpg or better.

blacksky-that video is up, i think. Its the 12 second one. Sure enough, heard it chirp into 2nd.

What work did he have done? It usually takes the obd-II ecu one these a week or two to learn new parameters. But once it finds its groove, it will be a beast. Our GMC ran like **** for awhile after it got a new fuel pressure regulater. Then it finally stopped running it self rich, and MPG is up, feel strong, sound good, and no'mo' black smoke if your heavy on the gas. and a can of Restore Engine Treatment, and use it every oil change, works freaking wonders on highmilage engines... Our GMC is a smooth as a BMW now :nod:
