You talk about bad quality, and a poor performer. Brakes came on too jumpy, the throttle by wire was also way too jumpy (no, its not power, its that it has no throttle-in) and the steering is about as numb as novacaine. Trust me, I will not miss this car when it dies, when we bought it from carmax, it only had 70,000 miles, and over time it just had on issue after the other. The most annoying is the passenger vanity mirror always fell off. about its only saving grace was that it was big, and had a pretty decent stereo.

Sad thing is, I still see it every now and then even after we sold it 7 years ago, because it was repainted its factory red color before we sold it, and its the only red tempo on the road that still has good paint, LMAO, I kid you not.

V6s are sensless for mustangs, and their tiny. Our 98 Jimmy's V6 is nearly as big as the Mustang GTs, hows that for a kick in the balls. And makes torque more efficiently withs its displacement too. 4.3L v6 vs a 4.6L V8, any day.

noturday
05-05-2007, 09:19 PM
the only good thing about that car is that i could tear it up and not care and it would chirp second hard even tho it was auto (and even when there was a fat chick in it :o ) i didnt think that was possible

texan_idiot25
05-05-2007, 09:22 PM
The 4l60E auto in the 98 shifts too smoothly to chirp the tires in 2nd, that and its a fairly tall ratio.. maybe. A shift kit will solve that though.

noturday
05-05-2007, 09:25 PM
yeah GM has a thing in the comp that wont let it shift hard so u dont mess up the tranny, ford on the other hand doesnt care how long ur tranny lasts they just want u to buy a car

texan_idiot25
05-05-2007, 09:27 PM
No, its not in the transmission computer, its the actual valving. Just makes for a great smooth transmission. Never slips, always gets the gear right, and is simply dead on reliable. Good for 400 at the wheels too.

noturday
05-05-2007, 09:31 PM

Noturday-thats probly abs or tcs messing with you, I powerbraked the GMC into that smokey one you see above, and its not making near the ammount of torque as your Av, and they have the exact same transmission

just MY cars....down to 2 right now:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/Numbchux/siggy-1.jpg

1992 subaru loyale......1987 Toyota 4Runner

at my parents' house, 1985 Nissan 300ZX, 1994 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, 2001 Subaru Legacy L Sedan, 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan (I'm ashamed to admit.....160k miles, bought it with 80k and just while we've had it it's had 3 trannies, numerous MAP sensors, 2 front main seals, one rear, both front axles, rear brakes, shocks/struts....ugh)

for one week last year, we had 7 subarus in our posession (for the 3 of us...and still had the nissan and dodge). Both my lifted '88 GL wagons, what was left of my '85 GL wagon(weighed 400lbs when we took it to the crusher at the end of that week), the '92 loyale, the '92 legacy (engine donor for the loyale), '94 legacy, and '01 legacy.

AND, until last summer, we had a 1964 Ford F100 pickup that my dad used to plow the driveway. total POS, rusted in half, no brakes, only started about half the time (and only if you had the charger and block heater on it for at least 10 hours before hand), 3 flat tires, all 4 wheels rusted to the hubs.....

3 people, 10 cars, 3 car garage.....

actually I'm going turbo. From what I've researched and talked to tuners around houston it's better to go turbo with a smaller engine (like the B-16) plus my gf's uncle can get me all my turbo stuff at wholesale prices. Next summer I'll post pics when its all turboed....maybe a vid :)

texan_idiot25
05-06-2007, 12:36 PM
Small engine or not, talk to cowboySiR on xmw, and he can tell you his story of how he kept up, then passed up with a Cayenne with his supercharged SiR civic. Kept pace with the thing going uphill

That, and how are you gonna have some lowend torque? Cant do that with a large turbo, and still have lots of top-end. Unless you have twin turbo (one small, on large) or variable geometry turbos... expensive!

Or check out vortec centrifugal superchargers.

Or turbo like every other honda box..

Or stick a Nelson Racing engine into it, and make over 2000 hp  V8 power

Garret GT35R is what I'm getting with a precision intercooler, tial bov and wastegate. I'm getting it tuned by jason at St00pidfast; the best Honda tuner in houston hands down. He's tuned civic hatches to about 450 fwhp that have bone stock bottom ends that keep up with Porsche GT2's. For low end torque it just depends on how you tune...twin turbo on a civic with the one big one large crap is a waste of money to be honest. I don't know any reputable tuners that would even think about reccomending it. You can usually get better performance gains going with a slightly bigger single turbo and a nice tune.

I like the sound and overall feel of turbo though...the vortec supercharger was my choice a while back but after talking to about a dozen people who had them that hated them and went back to turbo I decided against it.

I can get a turbo or a lot cheaper than a supercharger, and since for me it wont be worth going above 400whp because of traction issues a good size turbo will be just enough. I'll have a nice *** power curve too...I've ridden in a civic si just like mine with a set-up like I want and it was amazing. Plus with turbo my gf's uncle can custom fab me a manifold :)

umm.. no. Let's compare. Infact, I'll use the 2007 model with 450 HP and TQ.
Civic:
Engine
Type: Inline-4
Displacement cu in (cc): 122 (1998)
Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 197(147) / 7800
Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 139(188) / 6200
Redline at RPM: 8000
Brakes & Tires
Brakes F/R: ABS, vented disc/disc
Tires F-R: 215/45 R17
Driveline: Front Wheel Drive
Exterior Dimensions & Weight
Length × Width × Height in: 174.8 × 68.9 × 53.5
Weight lb (kg): 2877 (1306)
Performance
Acceleration 0-62 mph s: n.a.
Top Speed mph (km/h): n.a.
Fuel Economy EPA city/highway mpg (l/100 km): 22/31 (n.a.)

2007 Porsche 911 GT3:
Engine
Type: Flat-6
Displacement cu in (cc): 220 (3598)
Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 415(310) / 7600
Torque lb-ft (Nm) at RPM: 300(407) / 5500
Redline at RPM: 8400
Brakes & Tires
Brakes F/R: ABS, vented disc/vented disc
Tires F-R: 235/35 ZR19 - 305/30 ZR19
Driveline: Rear Wheel Drive
Exterior Dimensions & Weight
Length × Width × Height in: 176 × 71 × 50
Weight lb (kg): 3075 (1395)
Performance
Acceleration 0-60 mph s: 4.1
Top Speed mph (km/h): 193 (310)
Fuel Economy EPA city/highway mpg (l/100 km): 17/24 (n.a.)

So, The civic has more HP and TQ, +2 for the civic:
911: 0
Civic: 2

The 911 is rear wheel drive (+2 alone) and rear engined:
911: 3
Civic: 2
The 911 has better suspension, brakes, transmission, and aerodynamics.
911: 7
Civic: 2

Yes, I am a complete car guy and i know my stuff. Yes, what you said is a load of BS

texan_idiot25
05-06-2007, 05:16 PM
Theres a few auto makers that use a small twin-turbo set up, that utilizes a small and larger turbo.

And you show me proof of the Civic that will keep pace with a GT3.

I saw the GT2 beat it out, every time... except that last one where it started late. And even at that, how much of that civic is missing to lose wieght, and that lil Civic wont keep pace on a track. But I give it props for holding its own though.

civic_guy
05-06-2007, 07:13 PM
I never said it won but for a civic like that to even remotely keep up with a porsche like that is impressive. Actually I think it had a full interior the last time I saw it. He may have recently gutted it for track use but I believe that's after this video was made.

Soon to be a 2003 Honda Civic Si. I'm getting it for my birthday. :)

K20!

Texan, I bet my dad's 79' Civic will keep pace with a muscle car on the track...

Civic,
How much does the turbo cost total, cuase for under $2000 you get a K20 good for over 250hp into it, non-blown. Hellofa motor too. Good for torque (try the k24), and it's like the b-series, so you can make a frankinstien motor out of it....

Import Tuner had a issue devoted to it. I'll look it up and you can order it. Great on information. Also check out hybrid racing, they have civics that keep pace (and pass) Evo's....

Talk to CowboySiR03 on XMW, he'll tell you. You can't argue with me or him on the subject, ask texan.

White Lexus RX300 (mom's)
Silver Lexus Rx300 (sister's)
Nissan Pathfinder (brother's)
Gold Acura MDX (Family trips vechicle)
Mitsubishi 3000gt mine
2 nissan quests

and im hoping to buy a Lexus IS300 sometime this summer. Im getting out of the racing tuner scene, I really want a nice luxury vehicle.

Yeah I've seen some nasty K-series motors...ones that'll impress even the muscle car fanatic. But that's not the route I'm taking because:
1) I wanna keep the B16 in it
2) I don't have the money to pay for the labor for an engine swap or the time to try it myself

A full turbo set-up plus tune good for about 350 whp will cost me around 4 grand and that's without any hook-ups or discounts (and most of my turbo stuff I buy will be at a wholesale price) I'm doing all the labor myself with some friends who have tons of experience with turbos and motors. So that'll save me a lot of money. I'm putting away 8 grand though because I'm getting either Volks or Gram Lights rims from Rays engineering, racing seats, and a nice suspension set up...some bottom end work also.

If you've ever been in Michigan, you would know that a DeLorean cannot go down the freeway. Freeways here are not maintained, and are all full of bumps, cracks, and obsticals such as deer to get around. It's literally impossible to drive the Delorean on the freeway; it's way to close to the ground.

That would be fun though. And this quite possibly will be my first car, because my father doesn't want it anymore, and he doesn't want to try to sell it. Not many takers here in Michigan. So I'm happy, I get a car, and it's a Delorean.

Delorean's are crap. The only thing that is unique about them is the Satainless body. They are underpowered, have horrible suspensions, and the braking is not good either. You can get a delorean for way under 250k. I have seen them for 8k. Good for you if it is your first car.I was actually alive before they made Deloreans the company went under because it's owner was convicted in a drug ring using the cars to transport drugs.

Where did you pull this information from? The handling on the Delorean was the peak for its age in time. Just because 20 years later it doesn't handle like a Lotus Elise, doesn't mean its suspension sucked, and the engine sucked. These things were not meant to go fast, just for road racing. Go back to the age in time they came from, because they were definetly almost top of the line machines for their decade.

Think about it, and try not to hurt yourself.
