Lets just say... its ugly IMO. And I thought the last body style looked good. The past 2 I liked, this... Why? And their sticking to the hatch back version. I wanna see pics of the sedan if they do so, maybe that will save my hope. Gotta go find a MT to see the specs though.

Whatever, I'm not passing judgement yet for 3 reasons

1. Subaru is one of the best secret-keepers in the industry....I realize it's motor trend, but I still won't believe it 100% until I see it at my local dealer. at which point, I'll just drive it, and see if all the hype about the stiffer chassis is true.

2. I said the '06-'07 style looked uber ugly when I saw pictures of it....but once I saw them in person, quickly ate my words

3. I know that it'll be a good 10-15 years before I'm in the market for one....in which case....I can just get an '06-'07

oh yea....and I told you it'd be a hatch

its does not look to bad to me. However it looks like they might be going for the same market the Mazda 3, it looks alot like a 3 to me.

Looks like a Mazda....in light of that, I say BOOOOOOO!

Whoever designed that car should be shot...multiple times in the face. I can't see that being the real deal...I really hope its not...but if it is...Mitsu just got cut a BIG break and they better run with it and not screw it up.

OH dear no versus talk:roll:

They stuck with the hatch for rigidity... because Subi lost to a hatch in the WRC by a few points, like 3 i think.

Ugh... It looks like my moms Kia Rio with a hood scoop and a body kit.

I don't like how they look. I don't even like the RX-8.....I miss the RX-7 days...

The Mazda 3 looks pretty good, actually, but this new Scooby looks like a poor attempt at Euro styling. That grill in particular hits the "bitter" area on the taste bud chart. Everything is too round and bubbly. That's not a WRX.

yeah im really interested in seeing what the STi is gonna look like, it always has different styling than the WRX. I like it though, I would drive it, hatch backs are functional, stylish, and keep the car stiffer so in my opinion its not a bad deal at all.

i hope they change it soon

i hope they change it soon

with the way things have been going lately, you can bet they will. with the exception of the GC style, which lasted almost 10 years, the impreza line has seen a complete re-styling every 2 years. (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008)

Thats what I like about Subaru these days is they update it often. Like what american cars used to do until the 80s pretty much. I just hope the hatch isnt forever, and it doesnt stay bubbley

I'm not so much for the styling but i am in favor of the hatch idea, simply because i would like for the preppy bastards around town with mustangs get spanked by a wagon lol

the general shape of the new hatchback body style in conjunction with the new chrome grille make the '08 Impreza look like the bastard offspring of a Kia Spectra5 and Toyota Camry

no matter what engine you put in that car, you can't keep it from looking like a toyota camry.
Honestly, it looks like a granny car with a hoodscoop. Nice going subaru, you just f***ed up one of the best rally cars. Some guys might say Function over Form, but not when form is as ugly as that. I'm sorry, but, Mitsubishi got a huge break this year, I would glaly take the new lancer over this.

Minus the eggcrate grille, and the loosely slapped on body kit, its allright. But it lost its edgy, aggressive look. :(

Chux-their supercharging it? :D

if i didnt know better i would have thought that the hatchback was the new mazda 3 the sedan looks alright and why do they change every 2 years i geuss there not selling well.

i personally love the hatch, its a great looking car (not quite sure what to think of the grill though). sure its not quite what the WRX used to be but we cant hold on to the past forever. That motor looks great, and supercharged... WOW. and you guys have to remember neither of these cars is the STi, just your average run of the mill WRX and in my opinion none of those past models have looked that great either. I'm gonna hold off my final opinion until when they release specs and pics of the new STi.

^eat your heart out on some new pics from the NY auto show.

We all keep saying someday, :p This is one of the few Japanese cars you would ever see me buy. Well, some of the last body styles. If I got this, Id have to take that grille out, and slice the eggcrate look out.
