View Full Version : 8.4 lith?
Hello guys. I got this lithium battery. It reads 7.4 on the battery, but when I charge it and put a voltmeter on it I get 8.4. Would this be safe for stock fets?

no it wouldn't be. anything over 7.4 is considered unsafe. you would fry your board. FET's have nothing to do with the voltage.
8.4 may just be the surface charge. (put a small load on it and then read the voltage)...and voltage is directly proportional to amperage so it does matter.

i was gonna say something similar to what you said bart but you beat me to it because i didn't understand how a battery could miraculously pick up 1 volt of storage capacity...
Most batteries "float" at a higher voltage than rated.
