why add the weight? Just get 2 li-ion cells...double the voltage while reducing weight

Because li-ions are very expensive, and some people don't want to worry about their li-ions dropping below 3 volts/cell.

It really is't that hard to monitor li-ion cells and if you think about it, after you buy the 2 extra cells, holder, double sided tape, and any other misc. items needed and after adding in state sales tax you might as well get the li-ion system, save the weight, and go faster
(thats after adding in cost of the 4 batteries and charger needed to get started)

is it that hard to monitor the lithium cells?

No, but it's a pain.

please think before you write. You just contradicted yourself. I'm not gonna argue about what battery is better, but being a li-ion user I feel the pros outweigh the cons.

Actually, I didn't. It isn't hard to monitor them, you just stick on a voltmeter, but it's a pain because you have to atop driving in order to do it, so think before YOU talk.

If money is no object, and you solder well, go with li-ions. If you're on a budget, and aren't great at soldering, and don't want to drill the board, but still can solder, you can do a 6 cell mod for about 2 bucks.

they will charge from 7.2v-8.46v

7.2v is at standard charge
and 8.46v is what they would start top top out at if not a little more
right when u take them out the charger and run them for like 10min.
