No, you dont i put homemade six cell in my car using extra radioshack battery cases just make sure to remove ur antenna when installling and make sure to cover up all live wire's or else you might fry ur reciever like me

Yes, i would because when installing and the battery touche's the antenna you will fry your receiver.. If you are not to sure about doing it your self and dont want to fry anything in the doing i can put it in for you see my site

Don't listen to Black Sky. You just want to make sure that the exposed metal part of your antenna doesn't touch the exposed metal terminal of your battery. If you can't solder, BTW, you can't do this mod.
