well, I've never seen anyone wheeling a montero. but I've heard talk of them....they're sort of entry level...but it'll probably do.

anyway, www.4crawler.com (http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/ProductLine.shtml) has some really sweet stuff. mostly for toyotas (the guy that makes this stuff owns an '85 4Runner), but he's got a few things for Monteros.

looks like body lifts:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/MonteroBodyLift.shtml

and rock sliderz:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/RockSliderZ.shtml#Montero

anyway, the key to building an offroad rig, as with many things, is that time is money. if you spend lots of time searching, and searching, and asking questions, you'll find what you need. Find a forum like this one for Mitsu trucks, and spend some time on it. and the best way to learn alot, is to visit it daily for about 2 weeks, but not post a thing. just read. read the stickies, and the new posts and everything. then start asking questions.

frequently you'll hear about other forums this way. I started out on Pirate4x4 and T4R.org, and wasn't really happy with the info. then I noticed a post on one of them referring someone to yota tech....which is an amazing forum!

here's one a quick google search turned up:
http://www.monterosportonline.com/
although yours isn't a 'sport' model, I'm sure there'll be some info there, and you'll probably stumble across a link to a better site.

I know I said it already, but I'm going to say it again. take your time. decide what you want out of the truck, and how much you're willing to spend to get that. then do tons of research to find what the best way to go about that is, and then do some more research. and then put it off and think about it for a few days, then ask again, then do a few more searches. and then you can consider actually buying something. any other way....and you'll be apt to waste some cash.

no it tells you if there is a cop using a radar gun nearby so you can slow down before he catches you
i'm not sure what kind of radar detector it is because it came with the car and i haven't had a chance to check

and thanks for all the comments guys!
if any one else has an offroad truck or suv please post some pics and give me some pointers!

i think the sun killed the back tv, or a fuse is burnt, idk i'll have to check it out,
but i always keep the tvs up so they should be ok

The only reason i bought it was becuase it was 4x4, running, and was for just $3500

oh and look at the last picture, you can see my neighbor's lifted f150s

why?

I wouldn't have paid half that...just like in modification. you have to be patient with the initial purchase. lots of research, and looking at your options. getting something that just runs and has 4x4 is a $150 subaru to me. getting a sweet potential offroad rig is $2k, TOPS.

anything above that had better be something VERY sweet. I'll have my truck on lifted and locked for less than 3500....

we took it wheeling today and ran through some deep ruts and it never got stuck. I've decided i'm not going to do anything to it but put some better tvs in there and some better audio. maybe a light bar.
in my mind it was a pretty good buy because it actually cost is 3300, but the guy we bought it from never registered it (idiot) so it did end up around 3500. but on the upside it passed the smog test with flying colors, and its got a locking center dif and i think the rear locks too but my dad and I haven,t been able to do it

i think if im ever going to build an offroad truck it'll be a ford ranger edge with camburg suspension.

I think its pretty awesome, HOWEVER, i'd recommend with a truck like that, cuz my cousin has a 96 montero i think, id "pimp it" out, with some bigger rims, maybe drop it a little, and do up some subwoofers and sound stuff. i cant honestly see it as a 4-wheeler. My ford bronco on its 16" lift kit, thats a four wheeler, NOT a pimp mobile, but i have 6 tvs, a 6-dvd/cd changer, 4 subwoofers, 2 amps, and other **** in it. i bought it for 800 bucks, and put about 4 grand in it. I just had it evaluated for price, and the guy told me i could probably get back between 9-13,000 for it, because of the condition its in, etc. lol

a true wheeler doesn't have tvs. period. that's like a lifted fullsize truck with chome wheels. there's a term for that: MALL CRAWLER

a montero would make a MUCH better wheeler because of it's short wheelbase, and narrow body. I've gone wheeling with a couple bonco's, and they're a total pain because they don't fit down the trails, and they've got the turning radius of a small battleship.

Well.. he did get a somewhat good deal on it. Just looked up the blue book because i was bored.

Excellent $5,020
Good $4,570
Fair $3,995

Its not bad, I'd drive it.

I definitley don't want to pimp it out. i'm just gonna get some different wheels to fitt bigger tires, maybe someday give it a respray, get some more 4x4 stuff on it.

my dad and i went wheeling yesterday after the rain in the mud, and it was so much fun. We Locked up the diffs and went crazy!

Oh and you cant see a montero as a 4wheeler, check these out http://www.rocky-road.com/montero.html
