heres my 85' camaro z28.
so far im getting this car back to strong running order with a few minor hp upgrades.
this car is a mutt from the P.O. iroc rims, earlier year body kit, hood, spoiler.
the P.O. has taken things from different years/models and slapped them on this car.
the motor is a stock 305 5.0.

ive since rebuilt the tranny with a 86 "vette" servo.
installed a new stock exhaust(didnt have one when i bought it),new accel dist.,b&m ratchet shifter,2"3/4 spoiler, used rebuilt z28 rearend, trans cooler.i have four bf goodrich meats wrapping 06 z28 mag rims(these arent going on till the very end)
i also have an edlebrock equipped 350 crate with dynomax headers and a hooker catback system, in the process of being built.

its slow going but it will get there pretty soon.
ive already started on the bodywork since these pics were taken.
pretty easy being that its 65% fiberglass.
(red oxide primer so people can tell its a project and not just a piece of shxt:lol: )

without further ado...heres the pics(i can put a pic of a sign if people dont believe this is my p.o.s. ) keep in mind these are old pics.

i guess it all depends on where you live.
all we see around here is ricers, and not any good ones(mostly civics and accords)
i see the occasional 80-92 z28/iroc but most are in the same shape or worse then mine.
when i get this ***** finished it will be a show stopper.

FIREBIRD: i'll try to get some updated pics.
i havnt really been working on it a whole lot as ive been putting most of my time into a freinds 73 z28 and his dads 56 ford-o-matic

THANKS CHUX:lol:

men COME TO FLORIDA !!
I swear, we see plenty of what I don like to call "ricers", but MEN are there some nice cars.....
I must see a different car like yours at least, AT LEAST, three times a day !!
AND lets not talk about the M5's, the Supra's, the EVO VIII's and so many more !!
Makes me proud to be a future tuner !!

no offence but i cant really get into the tuners.
yea they can get pretty fast but you gotta spend alot more to get there.
seems easier to start with 300 horse then to spend 5K to get 300.

^ Agreed i just don't like Tuners. All v8 for me.

And something else around where i live... lots of Vettes LOTS :eyecraz:
And all new ones too... so many, no lie.

Nice Camaro also. I myself am looking for that Gen of camaro.

its not that i dont like em, there are some REALLY cool lokkin tuners and some of the paint is amazing.
i just dont think i would ever like to own one.
there are three major things that bother me about tuners.....the HUGE pointless fart cannons, the HUGE pointless wings, and the fact that they think they can beat muscle from light to light.
even bone stock, my car pulls away from them. cant wait to get the 350 in it.:bigwink:

Yea... whats with the Fart cans... hate that weed whacker sound.

Nothing beats that V8 rumble :p

Hope you get it going soon.

I hate tuners that think they can drag race. you're just not going to beat the sheer displacement of a muscle car....

it's the handling that it's all about. all aluminum engine, low COG, symmetrical AWD, etc.

oh wait...I'm describing subarus and porsches....well, they both rule....

lmao, ive been beaten from lights by two tuner cars.
one was an impreza:uhoh: the other was a 93-94 ford probe gt.
i didnt get to see what wa under the hood of the impreza but the probe, somehow had a chev 350SB AND still had ac/heat.
you wanna talk about stuffed.........:eyecraz:
i couldnt touch the manifolds.
that thing was well to well ENGINE

yep. only way to make a probe fast....

subarus can be amazingly fast in a straight line....which just makes them dominate even more on a real track. just imagine if that thing had RWD.....you would've been smoked!

well, it's been coming for along time now.
the good ol' engine swap.
there's nothing wrong with a stock chevy 305 but when the head gasket is blown and you have a brand spanking new edelbrock built 350 crate motor,
might as well swap em eh?

there's still a few parts that need to be replaced (basically, everything that isnt shiny is getting replaced)
headers, plug wires, wire looms and distributor/rotor are goin in this weekend. new feul pump, breather cover, valve covers and power steering pump coming the week after that.
all of the hoses (probably braided) and belts need to be replaced and the wire harness needs to be re-wrapped.
re-route a few wires and this thing will be clean as hell.

then, it's on to brakes.
all good stuff.

so......here's the before and afters.(mind you, the bay still needs to be cleaned.)

when i first bought it

EDIT:
here's a pic of how the 73 is coming along.
the front clip is almost done and ready to go back on the car.
after that it's on to buffing and polishing.

Oooo, shiny motor. I like it. Are you gonna paint it yourself? How much did the whole project cost?

Oooo, shiny motor. I like it. Are you gonna paint it yourself? How much did the whole project cost?

yea, i'm doing the painting.
that's pretty much my calling;)
i'm a painter by trade, a mechanic by force...
it took me and a buddy two weekends on the motor and i'm sure there's people out there that could do it much faster....but i bet i could paint circles around them;)

after my motorcyle restore i told myself that i'm not going to tally the reciepts till the project is finished so i really couldnt tell you what the cost is.
the motor came out of trade. the owner of the 73 gave me that for straightning out his body and slapping some paint on it.
he originally bought it for the 73 but found a bigger motor.

i see you have some nice paintjobs yourself.
nice myspace.

cheers,
bondo
