My baja Racer

hey everybody,

as some of u have seen someone is making a baja racer on the atomicmods board. Well i had one in mind along time ago but now i have the body i need i just have a few questions. One what would u guys recomend using for rear bracing like the baja trucks? i dont want to use brass because its a little pricey and its a pain soldering it. i was thinking styrene tubing but i cant figure out a length that would be good wat do u guys think of 3/32"? well give me any info u want about anything

well i think a baja racer is a killer idea and i think it would be easy if you used metal from an erector set but it might look tacky. i dont know much about styrene tubing so idk, but try bending and cutting a spare antenna

i meant a controller antenna because its like tubing but its a pain in the butt to cut because bends easily so be patient wit it, but if you dont have a spare antenna you could use wooden skewers and wrap them nicley in foil or something for the bars

lookin good man, id have to say red
take off the front bumper and but a gen 1 battery clip in its place, i did it on my friends f150 and it looks like a skidplate

well it took awhile but i made some stuff for updates! Yea that things definitely gonna look sick when its done...for paint, id go like two-tone like a lot of baja racers have, often a white with a color of your choice. gl and im def. jealous lol

in that case then, you should make it like a dakar race truck.

It was planned to be more fo a pre runner for baja seeing its a extended cab. All i need now is small plastic tubing for the bed and such if anoy has any please let me know i need some!


EDIT: i need at least 1 offroad rim and tire i would love 2 but all i need if one if some has some!

SECOND EDIT: i dont need the cahssis extender peice anymore but thanks anyways

Thanks for more comments guys! I have a few update pics! the tubing is glued to the lightbar so i can pull it out for painting and stuff before i glue it in for good

yeha the brush guard is attached to the bumper so i dont think im gonna take that off i considered puttin more of those kc lights on the front but i cant seem to find the peice from another body kit so for now im gonna paint the back peice then figure out wat i want to do next. Im workin on it i just primed the back end and its still alittle tacky. I dont know if i want to paint the whole truck. But i might paint a stripe or somethin neat 4 it

id recommend painting the rear on an angle like / with maybe the stock orange on the front/then like a white or whatever color youre going to do on the rear, just on that slant, then maybe put on the racing numbers, like off road trucks, and ive even seen some who put like a whole off road wheel on the front bumper, or like some big bulb lights off another light bar onto the grill or something of the sort, but in the meantime, its definitely coming along great and be sure to send us the pictures of the paint job as soon as you can. Thats pretty cool, I would leave the chrome until you have painted the truck completely and then decide, as it may look different with a different colour.. Anyways great job so far, cant wait to see the finished product!!:thumleft:

im in the real preerunning thing with my o4 toyota tacoma and after seeing this i feel like i want to go return my x mod evolution and get that truck, i want to make it a sick preerunner with the back sagging and the front high with the bar u have in the back with spare tires, and i would take off the bumper/ OR-HERES A GOOD IDEA- cut the bumper in half (from side to side not vertically) and make a full skid plate, then ill make a dirt course with little woops and jumps and have a good BLAST!!!!! man no i have to work and make more money to get this $hit. i want it!!! well nice job lilskipro587 bes preerunner x mod iv ever seen, keep up the good work and amaze us, make a dirt track and some jumps and get us more pics with the body on the car!

thanks yellow pasta the only problem with cutting the bumper is the front clip is at the very bottom of the bumper so that could pose a huge problem but other than that i like your ideas!

yo i did some custom body work on mine i trimmed the fenders and sides, lowered the back and i want to put a rollbar in the back with a tire, ima use a stock tire... ill get some pics later

well i jus trimmed the fenders today and im puttin my second tire rack on i drove it around some and it looks good the only thing it theres too many antennas! i might make the back 2 functionsal and toss the stock one but thats for a later date i want new tires that are a tad bigger so wen i have the money to spend on tires i will i will have pics of it on the chassis maybe later tonight not really sure

I jumped my f150 about a foot off some ramps i have and it jumped very smooth and i got the roll cage thing in the back it looks awsom with the spare tire

the easiest thing to do with the bar is go to joblot and get some thick wire for cheap and for the color go wild. a baja racer could have so many dif designs and still look great. For the paint if ur really lookin for somethin sick try the double slanted stripes like the mini coopers got and for wheels they sell great off road wheels on ebaay that look sick
