Umm.. it would probably cost around 60 for a full weight reduction but you could get a cf chasis and front and rear decks and a cf driveshaft... and thats pretty much it. It will improve your cars weight allot tho

its easy, remove
front upper deck
cut support beams going between front, what hood covers,
sand off comand logic light mounts
remove spoiler
take off mirrors
use lightest body kit-measure and see which parts are lightest or
remove side and rear body kit.
remove other not needed parts like:
Front motor mount,
screws that hold batteries in place,
ither not needed screws ( may affect suspension and handeling and stability)

This is what you can do at home it is simple and cheap

Sweed are you saying to remove his motor mount? Where is gonna screw on his motor? The body?

I've managed to shave about 3 grams off the chassis alone. Removing unnecessary material is the key. Remove too much, your chassis will be weakened. Remove too little, no real gain.
But don't remove necessary parts. This will just add to the problem.

i was re-painting my rsx. i dipped it in paint remover which brought the car to the bare plastic. i had to repaint in the windows and all that good stuff, but at the same time i accidentally found that it made the body extremely lightweight. tha only down side is that the body is now really flexible, but at the same time it can still absorb some pretty nasty hitz though  i figured the body is now so horribly light now cuz the paint remover ate trough some layers of the plastic

Stixxx thats a really good idea i think i might try that myself

If you have a heat sink, remoce the plastic motor mount. It still works and you save weight.

i would stick with the carbon fiber parts to be safe
thats a good idea StiXxX !!
i might try that too

well the best I can tell you is get CPX'S parts and that might give you enough weight loss for there to be a big diffrence in the car or not      BUT TOO MUCH SPEED= UNCONTROABLE CAR AND THAT MEANS BIG CRASHES LATER

the Rally would look best on a Skyline or at least that's my opinion you may do as you wish POST PICS

just drill holes in
the chassis sides and bottom
the motor mounts (i've even drill the heatsink)
the battery holders
and front and rear decks
try not to drill to close to the edges!

you can also cut of unecessary parts such as the antennae clip, the wire holders on the front motor mount, and anything else you feel unecessary.

SwedishRacer

livestrong350z
11-07-2004, 08:27 PM

SwedishRacer
11-16-2004, 07:16 AM
carbon fiber isn't that safe, it conducts electricity. It can fr your car fast!

StiXxX
11-16-2004, 01:58 PM
yup carbon fiber is the best conductor
i think most peepz don't kno that or hav forgotten
so there is big risk in fryin

skylinerocks
11-16-2004, 02:24 PM
wow what a shocking thing to have happen but that is why I only go for the RS parts in the car and on it it just works better           :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

take a drill bit and drill holes in your heat sink it helps some

skylinerocks
11-29-2004, 07:00 PM
yes but that might be a little costly to the structure of the Heat Sink right or is that not much of a concern to lighting the Car
