I just installed the CAI on my 06 civic....

****!! What a difference in powerband and sound man.
Only thing was it took a few hours help and had to cut
a C-section out of the inner splash guard re:left wheel.

Quality of the CAi is awesome and comes with all hardware
and instructions (like these help...*** black/white pics you can
hardly make out) lmao...

but overall....im not regretting the 360.00 CDN on the cost of it.
now for a EVO CF hood worth 800.00 CDN

SaWeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT.
Ill get an image of this CAI as soon as my buddie gets it to
me as we snapped it on his digi-cam

it and it sounds dope!!

Hellz no...

AEM makes CAIs first just to get em on the market
without any R&D. AEM CAI has a prob right now with
hesitation apparently/

So i went and got the Injen which also has a nicer quality.

That has a small engine bay, lol. Looks good, I'm getting an AEM CAI when I get my engine swapped. What size engine is it? 1.8 liter? 2.0? And is it SOHC?

torredo
07-21-2006, 01:12 PM
1.8 R18 SOHC iV-TEC
140HP stock

CAI puts out 8HP to the wheels
+ my exhaust

Cool, have you considered swapping it out in the future? A DOHC Vtec'll do you better in the long run. A B18 with a turbo... *drools*

even with the CAI and exhaust it has definetly opened up
the airflow and RPM range (7k now) but this 10-15 HP gain
isnt enough for this bad boy!
Im hopin Garrett comes out with a Turbo kit for the 06 Civic R18
and then ill slap it on this car along with a Spearco intercooler
and blow off valve. I already have the Turbo & air/fuel ratio guages
but need a pod once someone makes it aswell?

then at that point will i hit HP gains in the 220+ mark
Not too mention once my 1990 Eclipse sells off im getting a
EVO CF hood and 1" lowering coils for it too!

im excited for this project.

here are some of my suggestions: when upgrading the suspention dont slam it to the ground, you'll just crew up the suspention and have barely any travel, keep the rims decent sized with good low profile tires that still provide alot of cusion, dont get a blow-off valve to big that'll let out too much pressure, DONT buy an oversized turbo thats alot of maintnance and that u dont really need, make sure there ball bearing turbos that the bearings are treated so they wont crack and ruin ur turbo, DONT get a bodykit (it just says RICER) instead get a small front lip or spoiler and maybe a small rear lip, get a nice, high flow exaust with a 3" to maybe 4" tip, get an intercooler that alows for a co2 shot to cool the engine even more and if ur gonna do nitrous dont overdo it. also if i were u i would upgrade the pistons, rods, shaft, etc etc. and just wondering but are u even gonna use no2 or are u gonna do it all on boost?

Last but not least......

DONT DO AN OVERSIZED SPOILER OR WING GOD**** IT!!!!!

torredo

this Civic is getting no wing for sure,
it may get a mild skirt for the sides but this isnt out yet anyways but
as for the performance upgrades.

1" lowering coils bring the car down just enough to snug the tires,
the turbo i want would be a garrett if they make one for this R18
with approx. 8-9lb-psi, the blow off valve i havent found the one
i wanted yet and and intercooler that just fits across the front
opening in the bumper (grill will be removed at this point).

Im sure i can get this car goin pretty fast, but like you said though....
you gotta be careful what performance upgrades as some will actually
bog you down. Example: HAI such as K&N under the hood give you
about 3-4HP but to me makes no sence seeing as your sucking the
hot air into the TB...hmm? tarded!
This is why i went with a CAI to get the fresh cooler air from under the
car and in turn slaps the 8HP gain on. Then opening up the exhaust
with the V-force i have installed makes a vast difference over the
stock Honda one. I had asked my mechanic about a Catback but
he said dont bother with this model as i already did a great job
getting her to open up for me.

I just WANT a flippin Hondata but its only for an Si right now
with a 600.00 U.S pricetage. Ill still get one for the R18 when
they decide to make one which gives out 25HP. And im sure
the price will drop down when they become more popular too.

Civic Stock 140HP
Injen CAI 8HP
V-force exhaust *Approx 5+HP
-----------------------------
Currently: 153HP
-----------------------------
With Hondata installed: 178HP

Not to shabby considering this is with NO turbo, etc....lmao
This already comes close to the Si stock which is a DOHC model.

wow, my moms 2006 oddysey is pushing 244 stock and aprox. 246-248 hp with a cold air k&n filter on a vtec lol. im sure ur rice eater can still cook this soccer mom mini-van though since its lighter and such lol

I'm glad to hear that you're not putting a spolier on the civic... It just makes me laugh at how stupid some of these kids are who put large spoilers on FWD cars... cause you really need rear downforce..

thanks bro

as far as exterior visual upgrades on my civic:

- EVO CF hood
- A few decals running down the door under the mirrors with parts that
are actually on the car, such as the Injen one from the CAI i have, etc...

Thats about it exterior wise ^^^^

Then for interior upgrades:

- Pod for the turbo & air/fuel ratio guages
- Some cool foot pedals when i see some made
- Modification to the shifter (Short-shift)
-

Performance:

- Turbo by Garrett (hopefully)
- Spearco intercooler
- Blow off valve
- Hondata (when they make it for R18's)
- 1" lowering coils
- 06' Si sway bars and bushings
- Centerforce clutch
- Injen CAI (done)
- V-force exhaust (done)
- Slotted brakes (rear disc upgrade from Si)

this list goes on, but itll come slowly....
