i want to make a track, and not just race on my basement, even tho the just makes drifting fun. anyway, other then just pvc pipe, which i will probably use, what else would i need. i need to find something to use as a "floor" for the track. suggestions?

for drifting i would use a heavy extension cord and things like plastic cups with rocks inside to wrap it around.

I wonder....

Using subwoofer carpeting material for the track layout
and the insulators for the outer bumpers and corners.
(These can be found at harware stores and are generally
used for insulating copper pipes in your house).

I would also reccomend using foam tires....

speaker box carpeting would probally be good at first but after a little use the strings would come up an start cathing screws on the bottoms of you mods, cause my screws get cause sometimes on carpet...

be careful with the pink styrofoam it burns real good when it gets in contact in fire i threw a hug block about 4 ft wide and 2 ft tall and 3 ft long in to a bon fire upstate and it made the fire grow about 10-15 ft higher.. so just be careful not to lit it on fire

Go to a decent flooring shop and buy some tongue in groove flooring tiles. I bought 80 sq ft for $60 and have a great drifting track, it's wood parque and pretty slick on it's own, then we add a dusting of baby powder. BTW, 80 sq ft equals a 10' X 8' area, so it's decent size for drifting.

water and an xmod is not a good idea.

by the way, to the comment on the pink styofoam going up, thats ANY styrofoam, ever heard of homemade napalm?

Frozen Concentrated OJ and gas makes napalm...but I digress. The baby powder offers a sort of smoking tires effect that's gotta be seen to believed. The wood parque floor is expensive, as long as you have some sort of interlocking method for making the surface very smooth and secure.

if its just a little bit of water its not dangerous.

I couldnt agree more!!
Any form of water is definetly not a good idea when it comes
to open electronics such as Xmods have. Just a heads up to
anyone thinking of this trick....

Absolutely smooth surfaces are a must, concrete works good, wooden floors are best. The Fresno XRL races on a painted tennis courts with good results.
