that one now has a seized motor (not sure why yet, but there were a number of things wrong that should've been dealt with....)

so I bought another one, 3" BYB lift, 29" liberator A/T's, 15" peugeot steelies, custom bumpers and skidplate, etc.

just thought I'd add....these are all function, no form. They comparible offroad to any jeep with a couple inches of lift, and a lunchbox locker. it'll crawl rocks, and climb hills like none other. and for a fraction of the cost....and still get 25+ mpg

I had a Justy once, full cage, permanently locked into AWD, no mufflers. That 3 cylendar engine would just scream....yes, I said 3. Unfortunately we were playing on a frozen lake and lost it, we managed to get away just before it broke through and sank. It was a long walk back to the cabin. My last redneck vehicle was a 87' Montero Sport, 2 door, V-6, 5 speed. It was raised 6" by going spring over on the rear axle and turning the front torsion bars until they were tighter than spandex on disco night. After it's 2nd engine, 2 set of heads, and 3rd transmission Pic-a-Part got it for a cool $175. Those were the days....

yep, in what else can you get 4WD that's at least (and frequently more) capable than virtually any SUV out there, and mileage that's also better than most cars! I've been getting almost 30 in my black wagon the last few weeks!

Thats pretty sweet. I dont know if I would really want to drive it on the streets, but offroad, that'd be a blast! Its just different, you see lifted jeeps, 4runners, and full sized trucks all the time, how often do you see lifted subaru wagons?

just thought I'd resurrect this thread for some new pics. I passed the black wagon on to a friend, and kept the bumpers and skidplate. anyway, I fixed the rust, and cut the fenders, and painted a 2-tone theme on it to protect from future rust/damage. anyway, without further delay:

Duluth, but my parents live in the cities, so delivering it down there, or even a bit further would be doable....

it's an awesome winter car, with lo range 4WD, rear LSD, Those GoodYears, and that ground clearance, it'll go through just about anything

the tires are only 28s (same size as the minivan sitting next to it...lol), but on a car that only came with 23s stock....it's a pretty big improvement!

no. this would be the slowest, most dangerous rally car ever. it has no sway bars, and no power. it would roll over if I tried to make a serious rally-style power slide, but it'll make quick and easy work of a log across the trail.

I took it out wheeling this weekend, I'm going to compile some of the pics I took, and hopefully post them up tomorrow!
