Don't get RS rechargeables. If I were you, I'd go for Rayovac IC3s, as they charge in 15 miuntes. I have a set and they're sweet.

RACING:
Lights: Are just dead wieght, don't race with them, they'll slow you down!
Bearings: HELL YAH!!! You need need these for anyrace, unless you want to screw up your car!
Rachargable Batteries: Get the IC3, not the radio **** ones, they suck, not good, expensive!
Wheel Upgrade: Get the tire upgrade. Better and betterest! the wheels are also dead weight, unless they are lighter than your stock ones!
SHOW:
PLEASE USE ALL OF THE ABOVE:
They wil make your car look better, bearings are a major show PLUS. But I don't like show off racers!

these are all good upgrades, especialy the bearings. You need the wheels because if you do alot of high-speed turning(or somthing of the sort) little chip will break of the stock ones and the tires will keep spinning off. The lights like swidishracer said, are dead weight. Don't race with them, unless you are racing at night( me and my friends do that all the time) or having a contest of whose look better, BUT THEY ARE DEAD WEIGHT ON DAY RACES! The batterys are a very important part because they give you that extra boost(ive never herd of those batterys in rechargable form) but i think you should use the 30 Min. rechargables from energizer. Don't forget to get upgraded motors, and if you like to drag, DONT USE AWD!

Get the stage 2 pack and put in the red one.
The white is quick for short hops, but the red is the fasted of the four.
Also there is now a stage 11 out that should be in the post to me.
I will update on it.
I am also looking at some 850 MAH batteries here to pick up today.

Drop your motor in a mixture of distilled water and WD-40 for about 20 minutes, then race it...
Put a little refined linseed oil on the bearings too, but keep the electrics dry.
In the cold, the viscosity will increase, so you will use a lighter oil.

I noticed that the radioshack batteries only put out 1.2v maybe you could find some that put out more voltage
