Availability
Initial reports were that the new XMODs would be available in stores late-August-early September, but the newest date is October 2005.

Here is what we know so far:

The new board is rock solid, we are very impressed with the heavier traces and the single board design eliminates extra wiring.
The new MainBoards handle 8.4 volts, but the Pro Kit is too thick, but not to fear we have a solution already figured out.
No Servo Jitter at 8.4 Volts!
V2 work great and has even more room under the body!
You can stack the FETs but it uses different FETs so the 4562 won't work here. In fact the EVO uses two different types of FETs.
Any 130 size motor will fit, but oversize motors will not.
Steering is much better with a bigger servo motor, in fact out of the box they turn better than a Gen 1 XMOD with tight turns.
Old bearings will not work, but we have that under way as well.
The cars come with a clip to allow the new bodies to be used on the old cars.
The chassis bottom is 2mm off the ground. The Gen 1 is 3.5mm for the main chassis with the diff shrouds drooping to 2.3mm
The retail price is $59.95

Lab Notes:
We loaded a MainBoards with 9 amps of current before it finally gave up the ghost so they are very tough and should be able to handle most any motor. There will still be a performance increase with stacked FETs because of the lower internal resistance of multiple FETs.

Stock Performance:
The stock EVO XMOD will beat the Gen 1 XMOD by approximately 10 feet in a 40 foot race. Both test cars were brand new and bone stock that both had fresh AAA Radio Shack NiCad batteries.
