Pardon the mass upload of images, but Ive been working on this quite some time. I just had no internet so I didnt get to upload regularly.
The rims I've used are Team Atlas 2.5W gunmetal.

looks good so far, putting body kit aside. why did you decide to trim the body rather than going with a different offset on the wheels and doing new clips to slam it down? just curious

Kot
08-27-2010, 02:43 AM
@ kevin,
thanks haha. Nsx spoiler with some nicely shaped mounts did the trick :P.

@blue,
I actually did get a different offset, 2.5W all around. This would guarantee me the same width all around (obviously). But in terms of height, I compared a stock altezza to the Time-Attack HKS one, and noticed how theres a significant height adjustment. If you've noticed with JGTC cars, typically they'd cut the top half of the car and custom fabricate the lower half. even the wheel wells reach higher than the engine height. I did also make a new front clip and reglued side clips to keep it mounted.

Here's what I mean - you can see the ride height is pretty crazy.

another update!

the rear fenders are starting to take shape
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/Flipsoulja/DSC06521.jpg
and some putty on the front fenders (still curing)

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/Flipsoulja/DSC06520.jpg
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/Flipsoulja/DSC06522.jpg
this last picture shows the amount of wheel space.

its hard to find right dimensions for the wheel wells without extending the front half of the car (reason being is that for the right well, when the car turns left, the right wheel rubs the headlight housing, and vice versa with the other side [and ive shaved almost to the point where the housing will be cut. if i have to, i will cut it])
cnc welcome!

And is there any chance that you are going to make the rear spoiler thiner?

Thanks for the comments guys!

@ mini-z drift, the chassis is an AWD mini-z with 2.5W rims all around.

Update: more work, but taking shape on all areas now

Your either one, going to make it as a lexan body with the casting resin, or make it so you can make multiple bodies and sell them... Or Two, you are going to strengthen the hell outta that body, and use it for racing...

My only guesses...

Kot
09-28-2010, 02:14 AM
^ well there are two intentions, and both of you got the obvious
'reproduction to sell'.

MY MAIN REASON was because I'll be making different widebody Altezzas. I just
want to make a general cast to base it off of so that I can minimize my labor time.

As for selling, i managed to get enough money to make a couple copies
(depends how demanding my finished product turns out) and probably sell
(if the outcome is good). If the resin cast is durable and can withstand a normal
mini-z body's racing strain, I'll reproduce maybe a maximum of 15-25 of this hks.

If I can and if I have people interested, I'll also make copies of other cars which
may be in demand, like the 2002 (not 03 re-release) supra, 2000/2002? nsx,
tom's altezzas, my 350z nismo bodykit, or hakosukas. we'll see :D

That is an amazing idea man. I'd be intrested in buying one if I had a Mini-Z for sure.

Good luck man!

Once again, another update!
I need to do a coat of primer, fill any flaws, then all that stuff.
- the front has been shaped slightly but for a more natural look (idk if you'll spot it)
- front and rear fenders need a little more putty / sanding.
- front fenders need one more set of body lines.

dont mind the mount. I'm headed to the university I wanted to apply to today and am going to seek some 'professional' help/critiquing/advice.

updated! I decided on a color - champagne gold. I might get mixed feelings on this; to one perspective, its a dull color, and to another, it's fitting to a lexus/toyota sedan.

the Tamiya paint code is TS-75.

Primed, and filling minor cracks.

The wide front sort of reminds of the newer Scion tC now.
