front wheel drive is dumb

it is way better for steering around sharp turns but you need to position the batt closer to the rear of the car for more down force!!!!!!!!! :o

No, supra star is right. AWD is way better, because you get pushed AND pulled through a turn, not to mention the traction advantages of spreading out your power.

and the handling isnt better cuz it is distributing the power up front too maybe if u make rear wheel sterring it'll work better but why?

FWD sucks, but what's wrong with AWD? I can never get traction at home without it.

if u open the white gear and drill a perfect hole through the driveshaft hole so u dont have th odd shaped hole and ur tires wont move !!!

just take the white gear out out of the back............there are 2 gears if you are smart you will know whit one is the right one.the one closest to the back

I think that fwd is dumb. I have a nitro powered rc car, and it is all wheel drive. I took out one of the driveshafts out and made it rear wheel drive, the only 1:10 rc car with rear wheel drive. I also made a front wheel drive for my xmods and it sucks balls. All it does is understeer. And it cant drift. :x

Guys, open up the white gear, then, take out the little blue gears inside,
assemble the front AWD part, and try it,only the front should spin!!!!!!!

also, FWD only sucks *** in RC!!!!!!!!!!!!
In real life, an Acura RSX is FWD, and its great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*****es

fwd should be better for drifting! you get grip in the front, leting you controolit better, and better steerung, suposibly. and its c=gurentied as long as your car works, you wont get stuck in snow.

dont be stupid and drive in snow!

front wheel drive is horrible you just spin ya wheelz

Ok, in the RC world FF kinda does suck, because you can't use the same techniques as in a real car.
I have experimented with RWD and AWD with my xmod, and have found that even though RWD gives you better speed, but it requires delicate throttle control in the turns. If you're heavy on the "gas" you're better off not using it.
AWD gives you a traction advantage off the line, but tends to go under more. I find the car doesn't steer as quickly. It takes more of the servo's energy to turn.
It really comes down to preference, and a lot of what I'm saying is from my own personal experience.
Results may vary. I think technique is more important than drivetrain layout.

front weel drive is *** y would u install it in??? itll make u slower

livestrong350z
10-05-2004, 09:20 PM
i think it would make the car slower because you would just spin you tires and you would get no traction.
but it would be a pretty cool idea if it worked as well as AWD

For RC awd is the best in real cars it is a toss up between RWD and AWD. AWD gives you tons of traction, but RWD can just be alot of plain old fashion fun. Try going sideways in FWD drive.

Actually, take the inner little gears out of the white diff in back and that'll do it better.

for FWD just take the white gear that was in the rear of the car before you put the AWD in. take that gear out and cut all the splins off, so that the gear that drives the front wheel shaft has nothing to spin against. but keeps the proper spacing that you need. i have done this. it works allrite.but still has its problems. AWD is the best though.

Problem you missed is that the bevel gear will move around. Stripping out the inside is best, IMO, but FWD sucks on xmods.

i had set up the all wheel drive because my back didnt work.but the all wheel drive sucks it takes to long to get up to speed and it doesnt catch on till you give a little push on back.so dont get it.

dude waht he means is to take every thing out in the bacc of th mod that makes it go, well exept for that gear thats atatched to the drive shaft..

and when you install the all wheel youll end up with the two things that hold the wheel so you can put that in the bacc so yeh youll end up with front wheel drive...

djskyline
11-26-2005, 09:53 PM
or you could just take the bake pices that connect to the wheels off your awd drive so only the frontg wheels would spin how hard is it for you guys to think of that ?????
it is so simple so then you can decided if you want awd or front wheel drive or rear wheel drive :dunce:

djskyline
11-26-2005, 09:54 PM
just get awd and take out the things that connect to the wheels in the back

dude, you are so right!! that is why i took off the all wheel drive that i had bought because now i have a greater top speed, and that is the only way my modded custom 1969 Yenko SC Camaro should be. by the way.. will have a picture of it soon in my profile pic. the pic i have now is a real camaro.. the new one will be my XMODS custom body kit!! hope you all check it out when i have it showing!

Yeha i would have to agree with the people saying that it suck but hey.. it really does suck. ya just spin and it is worthless
the easiest way for you to accomplish this is by removing both rear axels from the diff to the knuck,... then only your front wheels spin and you can see what it is like and you wont like it and youll just change it back.. sorry to burst anyones bubble....

actually....Its easier to drift with AWD and control it in a drift.
Its you needs more power and a better motor....
