Well...I'll have pictures up tomorrow. The Lishy got rearended by a Chevy Tahoe and her 94 Plymouth Sundance got totaled. I went today and bought an 05 Dark Metallic Blue Dodge Neon with a 2.0 SOHC and a 5 spd....48K miles, it's pretty much immaculate and i got it for $6,200. Tex and I are in the process of figuring out the mod list, so stay tuned...

The ACR was a factory option for the Neon for SCCA competition. Neon ACR owners tell me that in the later 90s the ACR was dominating it's class in SCCA and in Auto-x, enough so that the long standing racers (Acuras, Hondas, BMW 3-series I even think) attempted to ban the ACR from competition.

Throwing around the idea of using ACR-spec parts in the suspension. However, SS keeps wanting to throw on ****ing stickers though, and paint the drum brakes.

As I see it you need only three upgrades:

1. The biggest exhaust you can badly weld in place.
2. The biggest NOS bottle you can fit in place of the rear seats.
3. NOS purge kit to impress the ladies.

Have you researched to see what mitsubishi parts will work on that motor? A lot of mitsu design went into the Dodge 4s. Back in the day, I rocked a pt cruiser for 8 months, and a buddy that had one had put some euro spec mitsu parts on his, it was pretty quick (just god awful ugly).

LSD would be nice if it isn't standard. Lowering and other suspension mods are a plus. Try to find modifications with a consistant powerband, that way if you do make an autox car you don't have to worry about having power when you need it and when and how it will react.

As for exterior styling the best looking neons emulate the aftermarkett styling of the bug eye wrxs.

Wassup SS! I got an '03 Sliver Neon that i've been slowly turning into a "sporty looking" car at the moment aswell-lol. I wrecked it last year Sept. but I got her fixed after a month or so and then decided this year to put a lil more love into her than leaving her stock:) I went on Fleabay and got a few part for cheap:) Mopar parts are definitely worth looking for! So far I got the rear mopar tail lights, front black bezel headlights, LED Foglamps, HID Super White light conversion kit, LED license plate light, euro clear style side markers with LED bulds, black hood protector, lip for the truck, cold air intake, short stubby antenna, aftermarket tuner exhaust, Window visors, braceletless wipers, a nice lil Kenwood cd player, and front and rear Mopar add-on body kit (not yet installed until I get my set of 15-17" rims on). I might get a spoiler soon but it's a slow WIP so i'll see what other deals I can get on fleabay-lol:)

I saw a few sway bars on ebay and they're pretty pricey plus they all seem to be for SRT4 models (not sure if that will be any different in to install on the Base SE or SXT model?).

The SRT-4 is basicly set up the same as a SE or a SXT Neon, the only huge difference is that it has a 2.4L 4 Cylinder with a turbo charger on it & a body kit. I only know this because my step dad has a 2003 Dodge neon that he turned into a R/T Clone. 2" Drop, aftermarket sways bars (Strut bars?), K&N Intake, is set up for a chip but its not in there. 5 Speed Standard, After market Exhaust, a few other things that I can't think of right now. He isn't completly done with it yet, still needs the stripes on the hood and on to the front bumper. Also it has like 16k miles on it, it was sitting in a garage for most of its life.

These dodge neons are pretty fast little cars. Especially the cars with 5 speed standard transmissions. I looked up the specs on the SRT-4, 215Hp, like around 235ft lbs of torque, and I think 0-60 in about 5 sec's.

The car doesn't have a tach, so I picked up a Sunpro 2 5/8" (the smallest that I could find). Lishy decided that she wanted some black headlights, so I'll check into that. Besides rims and headlights, the only other exterior mods are going to be done to the front bumper, possibly, including cutting out the grille bars at the bottom of the bumper and removing the chrome inserts over the cross hairs.

Many more updates in the next two weekends. Tach install in the very near future, along with some tasteful courtesy lights, because Lishy likes to see what's on the floor at night. Yeah. I told my buddy at the rim shop that we were dropping it at least 1.5" and he suggested that we put 205/40's on it. There's hardly any sidewall, but they grip really well. They're Z-rated Dilente Thunder tires. Texan Idiot pointed me towards an autoX event in Houston on June 11...I'm tempted to give it a go.

Looking great with the new rims and tires alone bro!! That's bout the same style i'll be getting for mine in a couple months or so:) I got the same black bezel head lights on mine at the moment - looks more better with lights bulbs in it:) I saw get some HID halogen kit (super whites) for it too dude! If you got bout an hour to kill, just type "2003 dodge neon" in browser on Ebay and you can scroll and browse all those deals on cool item for your ride bro:) I've got a couple things left to get from there yet. Can't wait to see it when you install the headlights and stuff! :nod:

Picture and update bump:

Soo...this weekend we got the black bezel headlights and turn signals installed. A very subtle touch that made the outside look significantly better. We also installed the front and rear strut tower bars and the intake. The intake that got sent came with the wrong filter and a few of the wrong parts...the filter that they sent is this big, ricey Weapon R "Dragon filter" but it works for the time being. Also, we installed some Prothane shifter bushings and were astonished at what we found. The bushings on the shifter cables in the car were in tact, but the ones we installed were much more rigid and there was still lots of slop in the shifter. We got under the hood to look at the other end of the cables and one of the bushings was missing! I'm clueless as to how the car shifted at all, the other bushing under the hood was ripped and barely hanging on. After installing the Prothanes, the shifting feels 150% better and is much smoother.

Holy **** at that gone bushing. I hate the chrysler cable shifters, the laser had them. Keep them cables lubed as time goes on, or suffer the consequences.

However, the headlights rock, subtle but nice way to tone down the tone of the car.

That's not rice, each one of those stickers adds a minimum of 5 HP. In all seriousness, looks very nice, quite clean and understated. Much better than the neon I saw the other day, it was a very base model with faded paint and a fugly primer'd body kit.

i actually wanted to photoshop the chrome bezels on the grille to be the same color as the car and get rid of the slats in the lower air dam. i plan on yanking off the front bumper and doing that if it looks good in a rendering.

I just removed the vertical slats, I thought that's what we were talking about. If you remove all of the slats, what are you going to fill in the space with? Mesh?

all depends on money, time, and motivation...it's being build for handling more than speed. the only "performance" parts that it's definitely getting in the near future are an MSD coil and maybe a header. right now, it's all about getting it ready to wtfpwn a CRX at autoX.

Nice SS, I do like your wheel choice. It compliments the car pretty nicely.
You should consider doing something about the front end; I don't know what but the stock non-SRT fronts aren't too exciting. Just my opinion though.

We used to have a blacked out SRT-4 (pretty modded at that) but sold it cause it couldn't turn...only went fast in a straight line :P

I was thinking the same thing, STL...In fact, I drank too much and broke out the jigsaw and sawzall on the front bumper and started chopping stuff....

I cut out the left and right side holes where the fog lights would be....going to make custom grilles to go back in there with custom fog light bezels...all this stuff is going to be black...
