July XMS Logo Competition (Discussion Thread)

Hi all,

Purpose of this competition will be to design a custom logo that will run at the top of the site for the month of August.

This is purely for fun so the only prize on offer will be the knowledge that it is your logo up on the site for a whole month and 250 reputation points, you are not required to enter and the logo will default back to the current one if no entries are submitted.

Just a quick question.
Are we allowed to enter a banner twice?
Like, if I loose the one that's going on now, could I re-enter it for the July one, or does it have to be completely new?

Another good question.... how about we say that if you loose then it can be re-entered providing something has been modified on it, in this case and using your one as the example it would need an XMOD adding to it..... if you win then it can not be re-used.

Sound good? Assuming it is I'll add to the rules.

And another questions.
Will there be a "Keep Current Image" or just the "Use Stock Image" for those who don't like what's entered?

There will be an option to vote for the default logo.....

Yeah, I realize that, but will there also be an option to keep the current one?
Like, whoever wins the current one, will there be an option next time to keep the one that wins this one?

nope.... if no one enters or the default option wins it goes back to what you see at the top currently....

The thinking behind that is that we want to encourage people to enter we don't just want them to be content with the previous wining logo so we get stuck with it like with have with the STI....

Ok. Well I'll get working on something...
You said if we win, we can't re-enter that same banner.
But, what if we win, can we enter something new the next month, or do we need to wait a month?

Wow you are just full of questions.....

I am fine with if you win one month you are able to enter the next providing you use a different logo, we shall see if anyone objects to that though....

do we add the pictures in the entry thread like normal ones, you know like upload from photobucket i'd hate to make a big mistake.

Yupp. Just upload it to Photobucket as a .JPG (Photobucket does not accept .PSD files) and post it in the entry thread within [IMG] tags as if it were a regular image you wanted to share. The July Entry Thread can be found HERE (http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17182). Examples of how to post can be found in that entry thread since everyone who has entered already has done it properly. If you win TheB1GDude will contact you with further instructions if he needs the .PSD (or other original file, most will use Photoshop) for banner use.

Understanding that the Xmodsource Rules and Guidelines state the maximum image allowed to be posted within image ([IMG]) tags should be no larger than 800 pixels wide we will let it slide only in these XMS Logo Competition threads due to the fact that the XMS Logo Competition Rules allow for images up to (but not exceeding) 900 pixels wide. :nod:
