I starting cutting away at my 4 Door JK body, in the idea to make a Jk Brute. This is my inspiration, and what I hope the final looks like, with some minor changes like a longer bed:

Checking the sides and bed floor for fitment:

Progress so far. Made a rear bed wall. I have to make one also for the rear of the cab, since the bed and cab are two separate parts.

Stopping here for tonight. I modified the front bumper like igotit did on his JK.

Also removed the plastic sliders. Tomorrow I will start to remove the flares from the rear half to use on the bed.

(oh goodness Jeep, when will you stop cutting away the Wrangler!) Looks pretty good so far! even though i think Jeep is taking this a little too far, and Wangler is fast becoming annoying to me, this looks pretty good so far!

Thanks man. I was bored of staring at me stock 4 Door JK, and a Brute JK doesn't exist, so I had a thought...

Body was all cut with thread!

Google AEV Brute, it is a conversion kit for the TJ.

This video shows how to cut with thread:

no offence to his nifty little trick but i could have had both sides cut and ready to go with an X-acto buy the time he got through the first side with string.
it's pretty cool that it even works but is a bit too time consuming IMO.

a word of caution if you plan on using the ABS sheet.
ABS does'nt paint like styrene or poly vynil.
you can scuff it to get mechanical adhesion but it wont last long espescially under stress and abuse.
for chemical+mechanical adhesion of paint to ABS plastic, the use of an adhesion promotor is reccomended.

Thanks Bondo. I tried with thread since I didn't want to cut my finger off, and thread is slightly more controllable, but I also tried with an X-ACTO and it was faster.

As for the ABS, that will be a skid plate or bumper material; not for the body. :bigwink:

Started on the bed fenders. Might leave them as flat fenders all around.

Here are some together shots. When I get the glue I will start to really piece it together.

Looking good Aerosynch! I've been wanting to save for an SCX10 by Axial but never went through with it. Anyways sweet build there. Crawling is too slow for me. Now seeing a brushless Slash going down the street at 50mph is what makes me happy haha.

This isn't a crawler. I've got brushless in it.

Prerunner cage that is being made for me:
