After seeing Skv's GTR, I just have to order one myself. Just got the body yesterday and started to work on it, I might not gonna paint the body color, just to match all my white GT-R's. Enough talking, here's are the pics.

When I got the body, it doesn't fit well on the AWD's chassis, so I had to sand down the front clip and the front body mount a bit.

Wheels that I want to use.

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk124/Dr_Kustom/Mini-Z%20MA-010/IMGP0217.jpg

This body doesn't comes with mirrors, so I'm thinking of using a set of mirrors that I found from an Aoshima model kit.
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk124/Dr_Kustom/Mini-Z%20MA-010/IMGP0220.jpg

Chopped the headlights off, and making custom headlights.

Started to mounting those Aoshima model rims.

And here's just a random pic.

I got the body from tinyRC.

I will be using the chrome mirrors, but not sure if those chrome rims are gonna stay, those rims are a bit smaller than the normal mini-z rims, and they are a bit narrow for this body.

I'll only make 1 critique/suggestion: if you're gonna make it look street, go for broke. Proper front grill, bumpers, no intercooler, etc. Also, mirrors go about 1/4 from the nose tip on the sides near the hood edge.

Edit: In fact here http://kultivate.wordpress.com/2008/03/28/hakosuka-love/ I'll probably dress mine up as close to that as possible.

Thanks guys, those rims are from the Evo X, they won't be staying on the chassis. I am thinking of getting some team atlas rims for it.

Update: Got those Kyosho 4.5 degree camber knuckles in the mail today, and installed it. The normal off-set for this body is 0N and 0W, they seem to be too narrow to me, so I sand down a lot of plastic inside the wheel arches (only finished 1 side) and added some crazy camber to it, now it can fit 2.5N up front and 1W at the rear.

yea i think it does look good for the body style as well alot of the Real cars u see with those type of fender flares have wheels and tires like that and the Camber is real negitive on them as well and it looks go....

Cant wait for u to finish it... its still in its early stages when its finished it will look 1,000 times better

Imagine how well it will drive with such little tire patch contacting the ground.

Function > Form any day.

Don't mean to sound like a prick or anything, but interms of effeciency and functionability. If he could drive like that on a track with no problems, then he just doubled his tires life span. Cause it looks like only the inside half of the tires are touching right?, so when the inside half gets worn, all you do is rotate the tires side to side. This is an RC, so rotating the tires side to side don't matter like real cars where its back to front, or other specific tread patterns.

Now, if gripping is an issue like that, then yes, I'd rather have full tire contact... Aside from that, I'm not too much of a fan of that angle. If you could lessing the angle a little bit. Also, is that 0-offset? or can you bring them in a little more narrow? If you keep that angle I'd bring them in a lil more narrow (in terms of looks atleast... not sure how that'd affect your driving)

That would not double a tires life span. By giving a vehicle that much negative camber you are putting the full weight of the vehicle on a tiny little patch of tire which will cause that patch of tire to wear out extremely fast, and it's not a matter of switching the tires side to side as it would still be riding in the same spot on the tire. You would have to flip the tire over on the wheels to put it in a new spot on the tire.

I'm just really not a fan of that much negative camber. There is absolutely no benefit to that much negative camber other than show purposes, and it doesn't even look good at all so I don't see why people do it for show.

I can understand a little negative camber, but that much is a bit ridiculous.

SkylineLvr
03-09-2009, 05:57 AM
If he switched his tires straight across then it won't be riding on the same spot. It would be riding on the opposite side that it was riding on previously (does that make sense???). I've heard that the more neg your camber, the better it drifts. Not experienced with it yet, but plan on getting all the different sized cambers and experimenting with them myself

Correct, it's gonna be a drift car.

The tires on it are plastic, so won't make much diffence, and its true that more neg the camber is, the drift is batter, I'll try to post a video of it drifting sometimes this week.

The ONLY way it would ride in a different spot without dismounting the tire from the wheel will be for the wheel to be put on backwards. I PROMISE you this.

As long as the tire stays on the wheel the same way, you can switch that wheel to what ever spot on the car you want and the tire will still ride on the inside with all that negative camber. The tire has to be dis-mounted from the wheel and flipped over and re-mounted to get a new wear spot on the tire.

youngxmodder
03-09-2009, 10:38 PM
ling is right just think about it for a bit i don't think you can but a rim on backwards on a real car. that much camber is kinda good for high speed racing and taking corners faster so when the car kinda rolls to that side of the car the cars tires with roll and have traction over the whole tire here's a pic of what I'm trying to explain for high speed cornering with negative camber
http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q352/youngxmoder/camber.gif

since nascars only turn left they have that camber on the car cause of the g's it pulls the car to the right in turn making contact on the whole tire. but as i said earlier Ling was right that you have to revmove to tire from the rim and flip it around where the good spot is.

XMDrifter
03-09-2009, 11:00 PM
camber is useful for cornering in normal grip racing as well because the outside tires get all the grip burden, so camber increases the contact patch when the car's supension rolls. camber is also adjusted so that the tire heats up evenly and has even wear on a certain track.

thats what I meant though, see below:

You start our wearing the insides(first line)
When they're done, switch sides, that way the unused part of the tire now contacts....
Eventually the whole thing will get used up

Like I said before, RC's don't work like real cars with tires (unless a specific tread pattern is used) so you can rotate any which way you like, especially with slicks or plastic, even teh treaded xmod tires can be switched around however you like.

On a real car, you're done, you Can't do it.

I'd like to see it drift too, make sure its a good vid ^_^

Might be sounds stupid that painting a white body white, but the white on the original body have that kinda see through color, plus its not the white I have wanted, so I just paint it with another white.

And finally, UPDATE: Got the Team Atlas rims in today, also got a set of alum. knuckles, they were on sell when i bought them, got them for $8, its gonna go on my other AWD chassis with the 08 GTR body.

I was just going to say that, Xmodzracer. The attention to major details is great, Xmods4Life, but it seems the paint isn't up to par with your other master pieces. Maybe a toothpick and a little time for touching up will bring it back to that point we all know you're capable of.

Besides my nitpicking, it looks top notch. Awesome work. Needs better, preferably outdoor, pictures! ;)

also with the light comming out of the front wheel wells from the head lights i assume? that blue semms to fit nicely! might wanna see if you could make it happen in the rear aswell?

Just commenting back on this but it looks like its not meant ta have the debadged look. As he said he wanted it to finish it in time for the comp, so he kinda rushed on the skyline. Anyway I just don't think that it was purposefully meant ta look like it was debadged' he just didn't have a lot of the time to totally detail the car.
