Did some "modding" to the Pro Pulse.

I know I have the other thread, but it's all cluttered and messy and starting fresh sounded better to me. Mods, if this is a problem just let me know.

In this picture you can see my bondo'd up tie rod from where it broke.. it's holding really well so far. Ran the crap out of it with it like that and no problems now.

For now, I've lowered it, cut off the wheel wells, and I sharpied the wheels black. I wasn't wanting to do that at first, but I've been running it hard and the wheels got pretty messed up so black was the best way to conceal that. :lol:

Will have the twin motor upgrade on the way, going to look into metal gears so I don't shred them with the new power it will have. Also have some on-road tires coming with the motors, hopefully I'll get some better grip on cement with those.. this thing has traction problems enough as is. :nod:

I'm digging this alot more though, more of a rugged, badass baja truck look.

Future plans so far, metal parts as they break/are needed. And, for some reason I really want to go brushless once I get good at driving it how it is now, not sure if I really will but it sure does look like a ton of fun if it can be controlled.

Grab some RC18T ring and pinion gears off towerhobbies. You'll destroy the pinion gear pretty fast with the dual motors.

I figured so. They are metal right out of the RC18T aren't they? It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up some metal dogbones too would it?

I definitely won't install it until I have some strong parts to back up the power, I don't want to break it and then have to wait a week with a broken R/C for parts to come in.

Aren't most of the suspension parts from the RC18T interchangeable too? Like the control arms, shocks, tie rods and the camber rods, knuckles too maybe? Been looking alot into it because there are still lots of parts available for those things.

Thier not metal, but the stock ones are delrin plastic I think. Either way, they didn't break. My diffs either melted or were shredded entirely. Maybe buy a diff too and see if it fits.

You'll have to google the parts swapping, I don't exactly remember what could be swapped. I know the dog bones could fit with sime work..

I know the diffs from an RC18T will fit, read a thread on another forum where a guy had put one in a Pro Pulse because he managed to shred the stock one.

This thing might put my Xmods on the back burner for a while. Although I'm still not giving up on the GPM chassis, I'm just going to have my fun with this thing for a while.

Well, today I traveled about 60 miles one way to a Radio Shack to get me a nice little mod pile.

For $23 I got this:

In no particular order:
Aluminum oil filled shocks
Titanium turnbuckles
Twin motor
Spur and pinion gears
Antenna tubes and body clips
Shock tower kit
Replacement bumper kit
Driveline and gearbox kit
And three different types of tires.

Everything installed.

With low batteries, this thing was pulling the front tires from a stop.. not very high but it was still doing it. Might have something to do with the soft shocks too though.

Can't wait to give them a full charge and try it out. Definitely can't be giving it full throttle until I get some better diffs though.. crazy how much power it has.

Haha since you asked so nicely, I'll have to get them tomorrow when the batteries are fully charged.

Next big purchase that won't be impulse like all these parts: Bigger battery and faster charger.

Other planned purchases: Different body, aluminum upgrade kit. (possibly very soon with the way parts for these are selling, probably better get one while I can)

And I still really want to go brushless later, but I'm going to do tons of research on it first. I've seen the insane power brushless can make and I want a taste of it.

How many of you can officially say your Pro Pulse has been attacked by a mountain lion?

My girlfriend works at the zoo, so I took it there as something new for the animals.. man they got a kick out of it, the tiger, bobcats, mountain lion, llamas and the wolves all loved it.

Too bad I only had about a 5 minute run time. Those dual motors sucked that battery down QUICK. But the mountain lion did manage to get a hold of the Pro Pulse, no harm done as he is declawed.. it was hilarious if I do say so myself. :lol:
