Anyone know where to get metal lug nuts?

Or, better yet, does anyone know what thread size the XMOD Lug bolts are?

Thanks,

you can buy a pack of 2/56 nuts from the shack for a couple bux ..

those 2/56 nuts work very well too if you put a thin strip of scotch tape over the axle bolt then screw the hex nut over the tape so it "locks"

PN or Kyoshos are great too. Its all about the colors!

Thanks fellas...good advice all around.

I saw the 2/56 nuts at RS but thought they looked too big by eye ballin' 'em. So scotch tape will make 'em tight enough? Still, I'm afraid of stripping the threads on the lugs, since metric and "standard" have different thread pitches. According to AtomicMods, they are 2mm nuts...so I guess M2 is correct. My local hardware store doesn't sell anything smaller than M3, sadly enough. Maybe I could try the scotch tape trick with the M3 nuts? I guess all metric threads are the same pitch?

If AtomicMods are up to spec, they are worth it at $4 for four of them.

Props to the biggun's,

the 2/56 nuts are an exact fit. the tape is just so that the nuts "lock".
the metal nuts also fit perfectly in the wrench that the starter comes with.
m2 nuts are smaller in outer diameter so you need to get another lug wrench

^^ yup, theyre an exact fit on both the threads and in the little plastic wrench, and they look good to.
i throw a tiny drop of white glue on the threads before i tighten the nut. it just gives a little cushion to stop the vibration which is what loosens the nuts. works great!

Wow, thanks fellas.

I broke down, and decided to give 'em a try. They are feeling like they fit. I don't think they are striping the axel's screw-post. So I guess I'll keep 'em.

Yep, they are a darn sight "purtier" than those plastic mugs. I have Elmer's carpenter glue...I may try that if a nut comes loose while driving.

Let me add one quick note about Kyosho nuts- they come with the wrench adapter for themselves and other simiar small nuts like PN, so you can't go wrong with these.

Thanks, Floyd.

I like to believe there is no such thing as a stupid question (though some people put that belief to the test---I hear ya, man!)

My main concern was that even if they fit, the thread pitch might be off enough to strip the lug bolt. I guess my concerns were unfounded.

Props to the bigguns (esp. you, Breiti!),

:( Atomicmods is out of them. Guess I'll wait to place my order until they restock.

Try TinyRC, they might have Kyo nuts. They fit all Zs and all XMs.

^ Yeah, but I'd rather place one order from Atomicmods than one from Atomicmods and another from another place.

I should call Atomicmods and ask them if they know when they'll be getting more in stock.
