this is my first tut so barer with me

now that gen 2 xmods are discontinue it is hard to find upgrades for them

so this is tut shows you how to make an off road upgrade

difficulty 6/10

tools needed
xmods small drill
flat head screwdriver
the biggest screwdriver from tool kit
nile nose pliers
paper clip a big one
some thing to cut the the paper clip
xmods truck tie rod
xmods truck tie rod holder
supper glue or putty i used supper glue
2 shocks must be ones with holes in it
sharpie
truck chaise
soldering iron
dremmel tool
and round head machine screws found at radio shack
helping hands if wanted
here is pics of what you need
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/8923fbf9.jpgfirst thing you do is take your paper clip

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/c8657597.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/a9c3234e.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/e5978498.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/b86b7495.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/cda5d64f.jpg

and you bend it so its strait
before
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/66d4ead3.jpg
after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/ade1c1b2.jpg

after that then you cut it in half
like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/19a7db6c.jpg

than you take your old tie rod and tie rod cover off like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/5798a2ea.jpg

then you screw the shocks on like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/a6a95af8.jpg

know we move to the tie road you take your tie rod like this or you can use a stock one

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/2afaae94.jpg

then you take off the back part i used the drill like this
before

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/758d99a8.jpg

you just push it and it comes out you have to apple a good amount of force
after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/edb32c58.jpg

now we move to chassis you have to take the top screws out like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/5225d93f.jpg

then you take your small drill out the knuckle just two turns like this
do this to both sides

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/c8efcebd.jpg

than you take 2 of the biggest screws from the bag like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/92ccc998.jpg

and you put in like this and you screw them in utile they are tight do not over tighten if you want to put spring in the screws you can

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/fb6c5b38.jpg

know we move to the bottom of the chassis you take your paper clip one side like

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/b08ce0e0.jpg

this and put it in one side like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/0b50b02c.jpg

then you mark where you want to bend it like this make sure it is all the way in before you mark it

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/64ebc4ec.jpg

then you want to make sure that your wheels are strait and your shocks like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/75b5f3c1.jpg

then you mark whare the paper clip meets with the shock like this
and that is wharer you bend it

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/3f1a3e56.jpg

know it should look like this
and yes i know one side is bigger then the other

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/8d3710c4.jpg

now you have to cut it to make it even like this
before

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/8d3710c4.jpg

after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/ae142351.jpg

now insert the bend paper clip in to the shocks and make sure that the wheels and shocks are strait like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/cb369f49.jpg

and if it hangs over the battery tray than it needs to be trimmed like this

before

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/cb369f49.jpg

after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/3d6751df.jpg

now we take the part that was on the back of the tie rod and mark where we want to drill like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/030109a8.jpg

the easiest way to do this is to take your soldering iron just push it in to the pice but just not all the way and do this to both sides like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/f2b10e2b.jpg

and then you just take your small drill and drill throw both sides like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/98b18310.jpg

you should be able to see throw it like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/98b18310.jpg

know we go back to the paper clip you have to bend it up on both sides like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/2c868e79.jpg

know you have to bend it side ways like this

know make a test fit it should look like this
and if it looks like this you can move if does not you have to fix it or this mod will not work

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/48982dfc.jpg

know take the pice you drilled and put it on the paper clip just like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/535819b4.jpg

know make a test fit
should look like this
and make sure that the wheels are strait

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/f967d6b3.jpg

know take your supper glue and put some glue in the back like this BUT TAKE IT OFF THE TRUCK
HELPING HANDS ARE THE BEST TO USE HERE

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/e5b66900.jpg

now whele the glue or putty is drying you can cut your tie rod
but first you need to mark it should like this
before
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/8a8b08a7.jpg

after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/1d3d69cf.jpg

than you cut it should look like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/2fc024b3.jpg

now make sure your glue or putty is dry before this step
now you can glue or putty your shocks on the paper clip
make sure the paper clip is up side down like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/85937bfd.jpg

MAKE SURE THAT THE SHOCKS LOOK JUST LIKE THIS OR IT WILL THE WORK

now you have to put it back together

first put your paper clip tie rod on like this

now you have to put your modify tie rod cover back on like this
it has to be put on back words

now you have to unscrew the front a arms just 2 turns more then that will cause binding

before

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/6bf15588.jpg

after

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/fb9fe761.jpg

if you notice that the back is lower then the front you can fix that by adding longer screws like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/92ccc998.jpg

but first you have to drill it out with the small drill like this 2 turns

to make your truck higher you can put a spring on the top screw like this

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/dc6fba06.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/6be29932.jpg

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm272/camaro93/08792e27.jpg

im not sure if its possible with smaller scale RCs but another trick to make links is using thread-rod with alloy tubing. Then at each end install plastic ballcups.

Interesting....what are the benefits from doing this mod? Just a little more height from the front end? Or does it increase handling?

Also, btw instead of know, its now. lol, I knew what you meant though. ;)
