oh ok so you got one? lol i had one for a while, friend of mine let me test one out in my truck with a stock chassie lol that was funny! lil 25 went over backwards before you could even thing holy crap is a old 25 doin a wheelie hahaha, i acually just sold my truck to buy my buddys 25 for 100 bucks so i thought that was a pretty good deal seeing as though i got 250 for mine

torredo

i had the reverse module in it to not long ago but removed it lately cuz its annoying as hell! lol

but i still have plans for this thing yet but couldnt even think of selling it now. too much into it to do so.

well the newest thing since installing this modified Wasp26 is the rear knuckle shearing off right at the bolt from the insane torque alone. haha!
the truck lifts off into the air on 1 wheel then snaps the knuckle then drops to the ground with the one wheel all over the place. too funny!
so ill have to upgrade the rear knuckles now over to alloy which i believe is about 30-40.00 for the set. im hoping to get a few more runs out of this beast before the snow starts falling as im awaiting for the carb rebuild set to arrive from my local hobby.

too much fun!!
im still without a digi-cam but will definetly post new pics when i get a chance.

im constantly either working on it or upgrading it in some manner.

not bad i just recently got my savage 21 up and running again. about a year ago
blew up my picco .26 at a race and just shelfed it after that. i purchased a axial 28 spec 1s about a month ago and just finished breaking the motor in, the thing is insane globs of power. the truck is mostly stock compared to what you got there with all the integy stuff, im not too much of a fan of the aluminum parts, more show then performance, has no flex so therefor can crack, stock plastic can just bend and obsorb most of the impacts, also ALOT cheaper haha.

torredo

well....this is where your wrong actually!

i wont upgrade the suspension arms to alloy but in other cases seen on my savage is for strengthening purposes. Alloy uprights, Alloy bulkheads, CVD axles, etc are way better when trashing like i do. Only things for bling on mine would be the trans case and towers.

all up to the driver really.

true true, driver preference is a big factor, but in curtain parts i feel plastic is the way to go, but thats just me and it also depends on the bashing you do. i purchased integy piggybacks a while back and i hated them they felt like they couldn't take any abuse at all. yes you did it right and upgraded the right parts and looks nice but soooooooo much money.one little thing you should do with that engine is put 4 zip ties on the top of the head pointing up does wonders in saving the head from scratches and bends.

i have a New Era full race cage for this truck. I just need to weld in some bracing to further strenghten it.

but yea, plastic is the way to go towards suspension arms, towers, etc where they may take a hit and bend and with plastic parts comes memory. This means in most cases the plastic arms or towers will go back to thier orginal form unlike alloy where it would stay bent.

plus the alloy ones are very heavy you can just get rpm one stronger than plastic but lighter than alloy

torredo

found an older image kicking around on another forum i had posted....
this shows the alloy transmission case.

that looks nice where did you get that roll cage from

torredo
10-29-2008, 05:28 PM
New Era race cage = CRAP!
dont buy it man... it cracks as soon as it rolls over cuz it the way it mounts down to the bulkheads. There is no bracing to stop the cage from rocking back or forth which is what made mine break up front. Ill have someone weld up the break and also uprate the bracing so it doesnt rock in the future. I payed like 300.00 CDN for this pos and i was po'd at it not long after installing it.

i was just looking at that cage on ebay thanks you save me some money do you know what brand is best

ok, i think it was called RC Solutions?

anyhow...
Some stuff still on backorder such as the engine safety stop set, carb rebuild set. Hopefully next week these will arrive before the snow starts hitting the ground as id like to get out there a few more times this year. I also just ordered a few new items:

~ Golden horizon alloy knuckles (rear) as these keep breaking from the torque from the Wasp26
~ New stock Savage S25 lexan body
~ x8 (soft) orange springs (installed)

For now ive made custom turnbuckles from the knuckles to the bulkheads which now give the rear end x2 turnbuckles each side to the rear end. This should hold out for awhile until the alloy ones arrive. While the truck was in downtime ive done some maintenance to all shocks by refreshing the shock oil to 40W, Adjusted the steering servo saver to make it tighter (steering was a little sloppy in corners), etc...

i am still trying to find a way to come up with the funds for the Extended TVP chassis for this beast which comes with the chassis, 3mm engine plate and the extended dogbone for the rear diff.

meh roll cages if metal are kinda pointless because one they weigh more than needed and two they make the truck really top heavy, so if your gonna buy a roll cage in my mind go with a savage x roll bar set up with the plastic main hoop and a head protector and the truck will go through and and back with out any questions

The roll cage seen in these pics (New Era) may not be the strongest cage but it has saved my *** many times. Ill have it welded up and re-inforced then itll be "Dark knight armor" heheh!!
as for heavy? this thing has toooooo much torque to speak of and does wheelies with it on the truck. lol
top heavy? nah! its soft suspension and stance never rolls unless its from a wheelie or a bad hill climb, but with that being said....the new XL chassis will soon help that out.

i love this thing!

sorry for the double post.....

just installed the P26 carb onto this Wasp26, when i installed the S25 carb on this thing i didnt even goto think about the venturi on them. The carbs are completely different! lol

P26 with a 9mm venturi
S25 with a 7mm venturi

just when i thought this thing was already scary! hahaha!!
itll be like slapping a 4bbl carb onto this beast.

self-edit:

Purchased/installed today: (Nov 08/08')

~ HPI engine saftey stop set (GPM chassis needed modification for fitment)
~ Golden Horizon alloy knuckles (x4)
~ Rebuilt the old S25 carb that was on the Wasp (now a spare)

Got to working on this thing again, some new custom work done!
Cut the entire roof off the lexan body to fit over my full race cage. Then using a piece from the rood of the lexan i cut to fit ontop the race cage and zip strapped it all together to come up with what you see here. Now, for the antenae ive even removed the tube and coiled the wire over another piece of lexan i cut and installed it on the right inner window behind the cage. No more antenae breaks!! lol

Nice torredo! You ever race that thing at a track. Some tracks by me are done with Slash summer racing and are doing Slash winter racing so I may enter my Traxxas Slash this season. IDK if tracks allow cages though. Some don't even allow aluminum besides stock aluminum. You got a 3SPD in it? I was thinking of a new nitro, bigger like 1/8 scale, but then I saw someone driving an HPI Baja 5T today(grandparent's neighbor) so now I wanna save for a gasser like a 5B or Redcat Rampage, or Duratrax Firehammer.

yuppers, its gotta 3-speed in er'
im asking for the Savage XL TVP chassis for Xmas which includes the chasiss plates, engine plate and an extended dogbone so after this id have to lose the cage as it bolts directly to the bulkheads, which wont reach with the new XL chassis. Im not sure if that throws it to a new scale or not as its already a 1:8th but itll be frickin' Awsome!!
