Lately there has been a mass flow into the market of crawling RCs; from the DuraTrax Cliff Climber to the Team Losi Mini-Rock Crawler and even the Axial AX10 RTR. But now Traxxas has taken it one step further by giving you the option of having a crawling RC while still keeping that blistering offroad speed and handling everyone loves! By just a simple flick of a switch you can jam that differential into lock mode and be climbing your way up the rocks with the new Traxxas Summit (http://www.traxxas.com/products/electric/summit5610/trx_summit5610.htm)! However, for you regular offroaders that just want to blaze your own trail, you can keep your differential unlocked and plow your way through the forest.

You now have the option to leave all differentials unlocked; just locking the front differential or having both differentials locked at the same time. You now also have the option to blaze through trails at the second gear transmission setting of 1:25 or to climb your way up the rock face at 70:1 in first gear with the standard 7" Canyon AT tires! There's also the stock 10-LED lighting system to light your way through the night; no more going inside after dark falls.

A little rain setting you back? No worries! The new Traxxas Summit comes standard with the EVX-2 waterproof ESC! This ESC is capable of handling 16.8V which is what you'll need to power that massive 775 size motor! Whether it's rain, snow or mud, this powerhouse of a combination will power it's way through the trail!

The choice is easy when it comes to your new top RC pick. Would you rather be the one inside at nightfall? Would you rather be the one sitting at the bottom of the hill while everyone else is at the top? No, the right pick is the Traxxas Summit where you set your curfew and you show your friends who's King of the Hill!

The price has yet to be released. I would venture to guess it will be around the $500 range, possibly $600 to $700.

Added to first post. :) In my opinion, for what you're getting, that's not a bad price at all.

I known about this since before it was announced lol I have my ways. I've seen these things at my LHS, they are big. I gotta go there sometime this week, BL MDT needs a new tranny lol so I'll get to see it again. The Venom Creeper also uses T-Lock Diffs like the Summit but I assume the Summit would be a better trail monster and wouldn't hold its place with an AX10, Creeper, or other crawler just because of the axle design. The locking diffs are a nice feature and the 2 different speeds are nice for trailing and bashing.

EDIT:
Here's Horizon's Price for those wondering. Why is it so much? This is a hobby machine, not something you buy at radioshack or toys r us.

yeah i like how its marked down from 900 to 515. lol

but how reliable is the diferential? i mean its electronically and remotely switched. and its a mechanical component. they must have done alot of testin of it if you ask me.

Traxxas is such a stud!!! My Favorite RC brand ever and this is why. They are truely the best.

As i was reading this i was like im buying one right now. i was about 10 seconds from getting in my truck and driving the hour and a half down the free way to my hobby shop to buy one... and then i saw the price tag bwahaha never mind. Ill wait a while untill the prices drop a lot. but man this thing is sweet!!

im so glad they used the revo suspension, thats awesome. cant wait to see some action videos of this!

i havnt checked youtube yet, but heres the traxxas video of the truck. looks like it does decently wheel. i dunno how good it would be in say a rock crawling competition. but pretty sweet truck still.

It's not really worth $500 IMO. I mean, independent suspension ins't all that great for crawling either. It looks like a Revo with locking differentials and bigger tires. Sorry, but not my cup of tea.

Maybe for a fun basher, but not a crawler.:)
