Now for progress pictures:

Dealership badge is gone! :)

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00119.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00119.jpg)

Install new upper grill:

Decided to go with a replacement Shelby GT500 Eleanor front grill:

Reasons:- allows me to keep with my blue / black color scheme rather than bringing aluminum in as a material / color on the outside of the car and I rather like it!

1. Take old grill out:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00148.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00148.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00150.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00150.jpg)

2. Swap fog lights:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00152.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00152.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00153.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00153.jpg)

3. Fit extended wiring harnesses:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00154.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00154.jpg)

4. Install new grill:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00155.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00155.jpg)

Final product:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00156.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00156.jpg)

What I will say about the Mustang front grill is that it is a nightmare! It took about an hour to swap this out and I had to wait for the hottest point of the day so the bumper plastic was softer and easier to work with, my recommendations would be that if you want to do this to your Mustang get someone else to do it! :)

Painted Window Louvres:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00182.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00182.jpg)

Installed Window Louvres:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00184.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00184.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00185.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00185.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00186.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00186.jpg)

Cold Air Intake (CAI) System ordered:

S&B Filters Performance Intake Kit (no tuning required)

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_hires_130_75-5003.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/hires_130_75-5003.jpg)

S&B are a great name in the aftermarket filters business also this one is highly recommended by 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords magazine, oh and the price kicked ***!! Should be here in a few days so will post photos of the part and its installation.

Cold Air Intake (CAI) System arrived:

So the kit arrived last Wednesday:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00317.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00317.jpg)

As of yet I have not been able to do anything more than take it out of the box and put it together:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00318.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00318.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00319.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00319.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00320.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00320.jpg)

Reason behind this was that I did not bring my ratchet set with me when I moved from the UK, so last Saturday I treated myself to a nice shinny new $5 kit and some $5 extension bars.... no point in wasting money on tools :)!!!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00321.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00321.jpg)

My girlfriends little brother wants to help me so will probably wait until Saturday before installing this bad boy..... got bored of waiting for my girlfriends brother so installed the CAI today....

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00325.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00325.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00326.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00326.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00327.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00327.jpg)

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00328.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00328.jpg)

It sounds really good, gives me a lot more bubbling from the exhaust on downshift and seems to have improved my acceleration, now for the bad news - when I reconnected the battery and started the car I got a Tire Pressure Monitor Failure error on the display - **** - now this isn't the first CAI I've installed (although it will probably be the last) and this was a direct replacement so did not require any splicing of wires, I didn't remove anything other than the MAF wire and sensor but the stock wire and sensor both went back on so I'm at a total loss and really don't know what could have gone wrong, I'm hoping that its pure coincidence so I went ahead and booked it into the dealership for Monday to try and get the issue sorted.

Tided up the wiring for my fog lots so that the extension wires no longer rub on the radiator as I was a little worried that the radiator might melt the wires.

Ordered 18" single center stripe with 1/4" pin stripe surround

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_9511_1.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/9511_1.jpg)

Secret Piece:-

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00421.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00421.jpg)

This is a custom built one of a kind (well actually 2 because the of prototype) piece designed especially for my car, I worked with a designed who used rapid prototyping to build me what I was looking for out of ABS plastic... it needs to be sprayed and then will fit straight on.... any ideas what it is?? :)

FINALLY.... check it:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00425.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00425.jpg)http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00426.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00426.jpg)

Problem now is that the wing makes the stock rims look really small :) So gonna have to get some new ones now!!!

Well guess I wont be doing any work this weekend:

So the snow cleared for a day and I was able to get the Mustang to the car wash for a well deserved clean, here's a few updates:

Magnetic Black Out Panel:

Also got a new piece but it needs warm weather to be fitted so for the moment its acting as a big fridge magnet:

As it stands the snow has returned so no updates other than this I'm afraid......

UPDATES 05/18/2009

Nothing major to report.... but I'll give you a few

1. Got the go ahead from the wife to get boosted via a Turbo Charger but unfortunately the complete kit offer I thought I had found wasn't quite as good when I read the fine print for the second time, so that's on hold for moment.
2. Weather finally warmed up enough to fit the black out panel (seen above on my fridge) it looks bad *** but I haven't yet taken any photos.
3. Still haven't fitted the sequential tail lights.
4. Ordered some smoked light pieces that should be here in the next day or two.
5. Ordered new cold air intake kit:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_CLRacerCAI.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/CLRacerCAI.jpg)

This is the mighty C&L Racer Cold Air Intake kit, this thing is a beast it sucks in a HUGH 1,070 CFM worth of air vs. the tiny 374 cfm taken in by my current S&B Filters CAI and with the right tune boost your BHP by 25-30 extra horses, problem is it can't be run without a tune due to the amount of air it sucks in and I currently don't have a tuner :( as you can see from the photo there is one in the background but last Friday I got caught speeding (86 in a 65) and as such the money that the day before was going towards that tuner is now paying the great state of PA :) so it will be a few months longer before I'm able to fit this and tune the car into 93 Octane Race mode....

Once I finally get around to fitting it the S&B Filter kit will be cleaned and put up for sale, so if anyone has a V6 or GT and is looking for a no-tune required CAI kit that is a decent starting point let me know....

6. Need to go back to the body shop to get my stripes looked at, winter didn't work out to well for them and I'm ****ed!! Grr!!
7. Looked at wheels but bought a new gas grill for the house instead... :)

Think that's about it for the moment.

UPDATES 05/23/2009

1. A photo of the new blackout panel....

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_IMG00806.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/IMG00806.jpg)

Its not at matte as the stripe so I just leave the car dirty and it looks fine :)

2. The CAI arrived and its HUGH I'll do some comparison shots between the current and new when I swap them out.
3. Ordered a new stubby antenna as my shorty one was just to long for my liking.
4. FINALLY ordered the tuner... should be here next week then I just need to order the tunes... going to go with a 93 Octane Race tune as my daily driver that will give me the most power out of the lot especially when combined with the intake....

UPDATES 06/11/2009

1. Finally got the sequential tail light harnesses installed... check them out:

YcrABPUFJnk
Sequential Tail Light Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcrABPUFJnk)

2. Got some blackout panels for the quarter windows... supposed to make the interior a little more attractive, i.e. you don't have to look at the unpainted vents but now I don't like the way the outside looks so I'm gonna have to rethink them....

Update 07/03/2009

Time is quickly running out so I'm trying to get my last few odd jobs taken care of.

1. Now have smoked rear running lights and smoked front indicators installed, car is dirty as can be so haven't taken any photos but they look pretty cool.
2. Have SCT X3 Flash tunner:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_sctx3.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/sctx3.jpg)

Still need to order the tune files for it but waiting to service car first so its all nice and fresh for when I flash the ECU.

3. Have the Air Intake sitting in a box waiting for the service and tune:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_Intake.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/Intake.jpg)

In case anyone is wondering that big metal tube is a 94MM MAF housing... 10MM bigger than the stock one.....

4. Sprayed my antenna cover flat black needs probably one more coat before fitment.

Hope to get all this done for August then take some decent photos.

Final Product - what I'd like the Mustang to look like by August 09:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/tn/tn_GT.jpg (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/TheB1gDude/xmsbuildoff/GT.jpg)

:) Well hopefully something like that!!!

Thanks for looking and I'll add more as I go....

Did you try and not break those plastic clips? Tell you what, to do the grille on the CTS means breaking the clips off (just gotta do it, they break easily even when you try not to), and pulling off the bumper/grille, busting off more clips, and replacing it all with new body clips when everything goes back on.

Takes them less then minutes too, you slow-poke

Haha on the stang you have to:

1. Pull out pins out the radiator cover - 5 minutes
2. Undo 8 clips using 2 screwdrivers - 20 minutes
3. Swap the lights - 10 minutes
4. Connect the harnesses - 2 minutes
5. Refit the grill - 2 minutes
6. Refit the radiator cover - 5 minutes

and yes I managed to take the stock grill off without breaking any of the clips, main reason being I want to resell it on eBay.....

Ohh, I see. For the most part the clips are so sucky it's easiest to break them off and replace them, and the new ones hold better then a used clip.

What would also look nice, debadge/dewing the rest of the car (including, if possible the GT deal on the trunk) similar to the Bullitt, and just clean up the look of it a bit. Another nead little thing would be to grab one of those low-profile antenna's off another car, and get rid of the one on the fender. Subtle differences to put your GT apart from others.

:) I know - I was just messing with him, I want to get a supercharger (if anyone wants to buy my entire xmod collection off me for 8 grand they are more than welcome :)) if I ever do then I'll get a hole new hood and put a blower on the supercharger.

Going to get a low profile antenna for it in next few days, don't think I'll to crazy with it just get a stubby one and leave it in the same place, will probably get the antenna base painted to match the car so just the antenna itself would be black.

All thats been said so far is:

Buy and install Borla Exhaust System - Cat Back (Aggressive Sounding)

But thinking about it I may not go for the aggressive sounding system and its 300 bucks more than the normal one!

How to beat the cops and get "aggressive sounding" for cheap.

Step one:
Buy a large, turbo style (large oval, the typical muffler shape) muffler. Higher quality thick-metal style prefered.
Step two: Cut open said muffler, from the top. Helps to test fit the muffler before hand to see how best to hide this cut.
Step three: proceed to remove all inner chambers, baffles, and fibreglass.
Step four (optional, but preferred): Connect the inlet and outlet of inside of the muffler with some exhaust tubing, to have a flow-threw design. Weld it up.
Step 5: Weld your muffler back shut with the piece you cut off earlier, and grind down the welds if needed.
Step6: Install

Now you have an open exhaust sound, with the legal looks that a cop can't say otherwise on the road. When you go for inspection, you can stuff fiberglass into the pipe and hold it in place with a pin (meaning, drill a hole through the pip to place the pin) and it will muffle the car and make it a bit more emissions compliant. Pull pin, rev car, shoot fiberglass out, and welcome back to the lovely sound.

I don't want to be rude...but you don't want to be hacking into a car that is not paid off for yet....to make matter worst, if the car is not under your name, nor the insurance. That should be a BIG stop sign. Don't get me wrong, but those mods are AWESOME (not cheap). did you try airing up your tires and making sure they are all even? your sensors monitor your pressure and when they get low, of course pop on. sometimes if they are not all even it can trigger a code too. air them all up a couple pounds over factory specs, make sure they are even, reset your ecu, and see if it goes off. if not, then yeah hit the dealer.

TheB1GDude
10-03-2008, 05:17 PM
Yeah its not an air issue the tires are good so its either a problem with the actual sensor (I haven't the car much recently and its been raining a lot) or when I disconnected the battery it wiped the computer so now it knows the sensors are installed but doesn't know what to do with them.....

GearHeadV8
10-03-2008, 05:55 PM
i heard well we tried(me and my dad on a c5)a magnet..a super strong like a speaker with the magnet still on it. you put the magnet near the stem, where the transmitter is. and you hold the magnet right next to it. hold it for like 30 seconds. Now on the c5 the computer beeped to let it know it has been trained. it sounds like you need to retrain them. if you like i will find a link

TheB1GDude
10-03-2008, 06:02 PM
Well actually I left it alone for a few hours and just took it out and no error so maybe it trained itself.... I'll let it all cool over night and recheck in the morning just in case it is confusing a sensor failure with a low pressure error then call Ford to see what they say....

GearHeadV8

texan_idiot25
10-04-2008, 01:41 AM
when I reconnected the battery and started the car I got a Tire Pressure Monitor Failure error on the display - **** - now this isn't the first CAI I've installed (although it will probably be the last) and this was a direct replacement so did not require any splicing of wires, I didn't remove anything other than the MAF wire and sensor but the stock wire and sensor both went back on so I'm at a total loss and really don't know what could have gone wrong, I'm hoping that its pure coincidence so I went ahead and booked it into the dealership for Monday to try and get the issue sorted.

This is why I like cars that don't need computers to run.

May have just reset the sensors. Your gonna have more fun when you swap out to different wheels/tires if it uses the in-wheel sensor like most cars have swapped to. The ABS-sensor one was less prone to this sort of computer hell..

hmmm...try driving around alittle or do a burn out. to warm up the tires. maybe there was condensation. cause u said it has been raining,
They would obviously design the sensors to be water proof/resistant if it's outside the wheel, and if water gets in the wheel you have much bigger problems... Like a flat tire.

What the guys at ford told me is that the ford computer and specifically the module that controls the tire pressure searches for these devices and then assigns and controls them, they said that most likely they would need to be manually assigned in order to correct the problem but haven't answered me on whether or not the car can do that itself....

No problems since Friday, I'll check it again today and see what the dealio is.....

Then you've had an incredibly short life. How do you think a sensor inside the wheel connects to the car's computer?

Seriously, unless you truly have a useful post, no more drivel about the TPMS. Most you kids have never touched the greasy side of a car, much less understand the system itself.

look in the book that came with your car, it tells you how. on my silverado, i have to scroll through the odometer til it says "relearn tire positions" then it gives you a certain order like LF, LR, RF, RR or something and you have 30 secs to go and let air out of each tire, it reads the change in pressure from that transmitter and it tells the computer the location of that tire, once the computer learns 1 tire, it'll honk the horn at you to move to the next tire, then you let air out of that one til it honks again, and so on. when you're done you'll have to repressure everything up....but you have to manually show the computer which transmitter is on which tire.

and another thing, in the winter you'll need to throw a couple of extra pounds in it because it drops about 2 lbs in the morning and throws the tpms off.

Ok, I didn't read everything about it but from what I understand your TPMS light is on, you aired all of your tires up evenly and it's still on.

This is because of a few reasons, the light will come on after a tire rotation because the sensors are not in their original position, and simply airing them up does not fix this.

The sensors have to be reset so the car knows there they are, on Fords I do not know how to do this.

On GM's you can put the vehicle into learning mode and re-learn the sensor positions. Fords, maybe you have to drive a certain amount of miles.. I don't really know, but I know some are like that.

What did you set the air pressures to? They should be most likely at 35 p.s.i.

Even a small 2-3 p.s.i. difference will trip the lights, I have seen it happen.

Since Ford told you it can be done by itself, it almost leads me to believe maybe one of your sensors just is not working. They should be able to test that out and see if one is faulty. Pretty strange that it came on after your CAI install though..

TheB1GDude
10-05-2008, 04:29 PM
Hey man thanks for the info but you kinda should have read all of it! ;)

Its not the tps light itself that's coming on, its and error showing on the display from the ecu advising that one of the sensors has failed.

The error has since gone away, I've checked my tire pressure and all are good, so I think it was just a case of I disconnected the battery so everything go reset and just needed a while to get its act together.

Thanks though.

Heck it was like 2 pages worth of reading..

Glad it got figured out though, I hated dealing with those when I worked at Goodyear. Those alone could eat up a half hour of time trying to figure the problem out.

TheB1GDude

So apparently if you disconnect the battery for more than 20 minutes (mine was off for an hour whilst I fitted the CAI) when you reconnect it the car goes into an adaptive learning mode and needs like 20 miles of driving in order to completely relearn everything about itself..... hence after I drove around for a while the sensor error went away because it figured out what they where....

Wow no wonder they picked the Stang to be the new KITT.....

ive never read that, but it might be true, i know 2 people that have GT500s and my bro knows a few others, i know for sure that the brake in period is 2000 miles on the GT500, i dont know anything about the reset period, it could be 20 miles it could be 20000 miles, all the new cars are different

It's sorta true in some sense, and this goes back to when guys 1st started hot rodding with EFI cars in the 90s. When the Impala got the LT1, it was heaven. One of the 1st mods was to replace the MAF/MAP sensor to trick the ECU into providing different fuel settings, that produced more horse power. You can still buy performance sensors, but their BS for all the same reasons. When you 1st put in the sensor, the ECU does indeed change parameters and does boost power for a short period. But soon guys realized that the car eventually lost the power gain it had. Why? ECU's are smart mofo's. Taking the many other sensors into account, it's able to balance out the modded MAP/MAF readings and return itself back to normal, IE stock.

So that's where resetting the ECU can get you a short term power gain after it tunes itself after a reset, but also you can see where it starts to loose that power gain as it learns different things about the engine.

Another interesting thing about ECU's and their long term memory is long term performance. Lets say hypothetically you had two exactly identical cars roll off the assembly line. Realistically, impossible of course, but for the sake of argument, their **** twins. One car is given to a grandmother, that drives as such. The other is given to someone who races the car often, and drives it hard. After a few months, even a year, the two ECU's will become totally different, adapting to their driving conditions. The car that was driven like it was stolen will actually produce more horse power on the dyno then the car that was driven like a grandmother all it's life.

Computers are funny things. Which is why I like Caruburetors.

I've had a LED bulb before in another car and it sucked! These ones are 12 individual LED's so 24 in total (1 driver / 1 pass) are they are pretty bad ***, I haven't had to read a map or anything like that but they work for general purposes :)

The stripe is being professionally installed, its going to cost an arm and a pony but I just don't feel comfortable doing it myself, the shop I'm taking it to are pumped because they haven't done an 18" stripe before they thought I was crazy when I called asking for a quote!

Anyway's the correct stripe is being cut today and should be mailed out tomorrow, hopefully I can get it in the shop next week!

Also my borlas should be here next week, I need to pick up some ramps so I can install them myself! Once those are installed I can get my custom 93 race tune for tuner comp, apply that I should be putting out a decent amount of power!!

I want to put a Turbonetics single intercooled turbo charger onto it buts it $6 for the TC and a few $$$$ more for the installation and I don't have that sort of cash currently!!

Oh and reason I don't want to go with a SC is be it ruins your gas mileage and lets be honest mine doesn't exactly get good mileage as it is.

Oh and oh again that Turbonetics system with give me about 500BHP on 93 octane which is more than enough for a daily driver.

For the moment I'll just stick to my CAI, exhaust and 93 octane race tune.

yeah going boost on pretty much any v8/american is a pain in the ***, takes some big bucks. and comes with heavy consequences you need to be ready for. its not as simple as a little honda or any other jap thing. not something you want for a daily driver by any means. unless you have something else to drive and the mustang can see some serious down time, i wouldnt even think about boost.

Would flow smooth and look killer, without looking over done. But if it makes you happy that's all that matters.

Your all missing one if not multiple points:

1. A super / turbo charger doesn't cost just 5K - all 5K gets you is the hardware, you have to pay another couple of grand to have it installed, then you need another few grand to have it dyno'd and a custom tune wrote for it.

2. I don't have the skill set to do any serious mods so anything big has to go to shop.

3. Any money I had got saved just went on an engagement ring.

4. Any money I could save will go towards my wedding.

This is something I'm doing for fun, I'm looking for parts at the cheapest possible price and if I like the look of them I'm going to get them.

As much as I'd love to devote all my money to the car I can't, if the spoiler doesn't look good on it stock then I've just wasted $400 but I don't think that's going to be the case.....

Even SPR said it in his thread, he has a dedicated amount of cash for his car plus all the tools and skills needed, the majority of the rest of us don't so as much as I'm open to criticism please don't be to harsh! :)

Just to throw this out there, If you spend 5 grand on a body kit and wheels, your going to spend another 1000 bucks to get it professionally fitted and painted. because body kits NEVER just bolt on and fit.

and 5 grand from roush would get you the complete bolt on kit, which also comes with all the ecu tuning and everything. so 8 hours later after installing your running with no problems and no more money out the window. No dyno tuning which doesnt cost that much honestly. normally 2-300 bucks tops.

even if you had to pay someone to put it on, 8 hours at an exspensive shop rate of 80 bucks an hour, thats only like 640 bucks. :D
the roush kit im thinking of if i remember right runs about 4500 bucks, makes about 420 hp to the wheels on only 5 pounds. so over all your looking at like 5200. Then if you wanted to take it to a tuning shop, pay the average of 100-300 bucks for an hours worth of tuning, you can prob get 8 psi out of that and over 500 hp. and your only at 5500 bucks :D

i know thats still more money than ya have, but think about it ;)

OK I appreciate what your saying so lets do this:

ROUSHcharger® R2300 Kit (Complete Kit) - Ford Mustang Supercharger (http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=1131) 510BHP at the fly wheel $5,899.00 but does not come with ECU tune.

445 HP Polished ROUSHcharger® Kit - Ford Mustang Supercharger (http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=703) 445BHP at the fly wheel $5,899.00 does come with ECU tune but needs supplemental kit part for an additional $336.05 for a total of $6235.05

I can probabaly get Doug @ BamaChips (http://www.bamachips.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=18_4_10_26) or the Saleen Guys from Brenspeed (http://www.brenspeed.com/) to provide me with a tune as I'm sure they have had some experience with Roush parts otherwise I have to head to my local SCT store which unfortunately is over an hour away to get it dyno tuned, now I have no idea of the actual cost of that so am just going of what you said.

Now comes the problem of getting the system installed, my dealership can just about install an exhaust, they aren't an authorized Steeda or Roush reseller so I doubt I could use them without paying through the nose, so I've got to find someone else to do it and the problem with living in a valley is that there isn't all that much around here.... everyone's going to be at least an hour away which isn't a massive gap but it means I need to install completed, car tuned and tested then returned to me ideally within one day...

So not wishing to just argue backwards and forwards with you but it really isn't as straight forwards as your making and anyways if I was to go for a kit I would probably take this one:

Vortech Supercharger V3 Brenspeed Package (http://www.brenspeed.com/v3vortech.html) This is Brenspeeds budget supercharger $3,799.00 for everything additional 150RWHP from it with multiple upgradeable components for even more power, $650 for install and dyno from them which fits with what you say above however their in Indiana so again I need to find someone local to fit everything but still 150RWHP for $4449.00 isn't all that bad.

At the moment I have no plans to buy that bodykit or a supercharger because as we know I don't have the cash for it, these are all just possibilities and believe me if I felt I could buy the SC or BK then I would go for it but all the money I've made so far to put towards my car has come from selling my XMODS (minus the wing thats on a credit card) and unfortunately I'm all out of XMODS.

Oh and purely for fun say I happened to win the lottery or kendallcschm turned out to be a multimillionaire who wanted to donate to my project then I'd get either this:

Brenspeed Stage 4 Saleen Package (http://www.brenspeed.com/saleenstage4.html) this stage 4 puts out 540BHP at the flywheel on pump gas assuming the usual 17% loss between fly wheel and rear wheels that would be about 442BHP or if got additional parts for it even higher....

Or this:

05-09 MUSTANG GT TURN KEY 62MM HELLION TURBO PACKAGE (http://www.brenspeed.com/hellion05-07gt.html) which puts out 500BHP at the wheels and will run safe up to 650BHP....

And of course because of the money I'd have I'd be putting the body kit on as well so that would keep me happy..... large donations can be paypal'd to [email protected].... :)

well those are some rediculously high priced kits! lol ive found em dowin in the 4500 range with the ecu stuff. But i get what your saying with the install. a professional should be able to install it with in 6 hours, its pretty straight forward. but of course money always talks and stops most of us from doing what we want lol.

Take it your not a millionaire then :)

Not a big fan of the whipple.... its a good solid SC.... but as I said just not a big fan.....

Love the Kenne Bell stuff, I should have actually given them a mention..... the only reason I mentioned Brenspeed over them is because Brenspeed have a house next to their shop where they let you stay whilst working on your car :)

but its the same scenario.... $4699.00 for their stage 1 plus $99 for the custom tune, plus $700 for installation however they do guarantee it as safe for OEM parts which is really nice.....

the kenne bell i know doesnt, how ever it is dealer warranty safe. meaning they dealer can not void your powertrain warranty due to the super charger. As long as propperly installed and not being caused by race abuse of course.

But kennebell its self isnt the one who warranties your car. and any signs of abuse forget about it, your warranty is gone.

Saleen im pretty sure offers no warranty what so ever, not even on their parts. except for probably one of those 30 day type of things, if its broken during shipping, return it. other wise tuff crap.

OK so got my Borla's installed and I'll be honest I'm a little disappointed.... :( They sound amazing when you start the car and when you rev it but once driving it all goes away... from 2000RPM to 5000RPM there is nothing....

Still they look great and sound great awesome at low revs so I'll deal!!! :)

Photos and videos to come later....

SPR
11-20-2008, 05:20 PM
thats what they are suppose to do. they should be nice and mellow for the normal driving, but if your ripping on it they should get a little louder.

If you want a burley sounding exhaust you need to do more than just a axle back. You need to step up to 2.5-3" pipe. lose the cats or go high flow cats. and then go with a more open free flowing muffler. I would highly suggest Aero Mufflers. They sound soooo narley!

TheB1GDude
11-20-2008, 08:03 PM
:) I know but the full pipe system was to expensive.... also a lot of people had issues with Borla pipes not fitting.... anyways it will do for the moment I've really got to flash the ECU for some more power....

SPR
11-20-2008, 08:38 PM
unless your super picky about having pretty pipes that you never see unless you sleep under your car. "buying" an exhaust system is the biggest waste of money ever. Unless your trying to go for a professional build and crank out every HP you can. You dont need stainless steel mandrell bent piping.

Find a local exhaust shop. Tell them you want some custom bent 3" piping. they can run you a set of dual straight pipes, throw on some high flow cats, and throw on a couple aero mufflers and not only is that going to open you up for some more than satisfactory performance to your butt dyno, but its going to save you hundreds in the pocket book.

Example, i can run out to buntings exhaust in hood river oregon. say i want a 3" straight pipe from my down pipe back with this muffler welded on the end. Ill come back in an hour with a $100-200 dollar bill and have one sick *** exhaust on my sti. If i bought a system, id be at 600-700 bucks.

and a tip, a lot of shops wont cut your cats out for you because its illegal. So if u want to run catless, buy a hack saw, and cut your stock exhaust off include the stock cats. and drive it to the shop. you'll probably throw a ECU code but it wont hurt your car. and you can reset it your self with disconnecting the battery, or having it flashed like you plan on doing. anyways when you get there be like oh my exhaust was ripped off/stolen/i have a missing section of pipe. id like a straight pipe welding into place. Then they will do it. Or just find a really small town shop, and they wont even care lol.

this is a super long post geez but one more thing...

if you flash now, if you ever decide to really open up your exhaust, your flash is going to be useless and you'll want to redo it when you open your exhaust up more. So might think abotu saving that money, and just spending it on larger open more free flowing pipe/cats and use your borlas since you already bought em, and hten reflash, that will get you more power, and still more louder and burly sound.

TheB1GDude
11-23-2008, 06:47 PM
With regards to the re-flashing well the company I"m buying the flash from does custom tunes... I'm buying three (87 / 89 Octane Performance and 93 Octane Race) I'll run with the 93 race whilst gas is so cheap.... anyways back on point the company will update my custom tunes FOC with basic modifications, but if I do anything big then there is a $50 charge for writing a new tune, if I did what you suggested to my exhaust it should be a free change....

Oh and check out first post for Strut brace photos :)

SPR

haha what a stud.

i wish it was that cheap in my world. The proper way to do it is buy a 700 dollar electronic, then pay 150 bucks for each map. basically every need mod you want, that you want a map for is 150 bucks. gets quite expensive quick. Personally i dont like maps. genaric tunes are not the best. Id rather street tune my self in between mods, and then when i have a big build up, then go get a nice dyno tune with a couple different maps for 300 bucks.

TheB1GDude

ouch that sucks about the strips! but other than what looks like someone doesnt know how to install them correctly, what doesnt fit about them?

Well the stripe is cut out so that you can drop it straight over the scoop, once over the scoop you are supposed to slide up so that the front of the scoop flush fits with the stripe, there are little notches cut in the stripes spoiler hole so everything can get right up against each other, problem is when they line it all up they are left with an excess of stripe material in the middle, if they try and line it up any other way it just doesn't center correctly and you end up with a gap on one side rather than the flush fit its supposed to have.

Its really hard to tell if its the installer not knowing what they are doing, the hood scoop not being centered or a mistake in the cutting template.

I've sent the photos to the stripes manufacturer to ask for more information on what to do, if worst comes to worst I'll order a solid piece have them remove the scoop, fit the stripe, reinstall the scoop.

Just means my cars gonna be in the shop another week!!

anywho, back ion topic, all i can say is, wow, it's come a long way. i remember when you bought it.
Bust people for being politically incorrect? Don't you mean being illiterate? I'm politically incorrect and proud of it. And I used it in the context like saying I'm not a boob-man or honda-man or something of the sort. In this case, the wing on his car, I'm not much of a wing-man, wings on the car.. And beyond that if you want to get into the double (subliminal) meaning of things, yes I'm not much of the side-kick either. I'm ****ing Batman.

Where in TX?

Stripes look sweet on the car. Not much of a wing-man myself though. Anyhoo, have fun on the trip. Gimme word if your in the Houston area.

I got back last night... was in the Dallas area, Westin on the Dallas Parkway for my companies Xmas bash... spent more time in the airport though....

I'm digging the wing, when I'm back home next weekend I'll take some more photos, I'll one looking out the back windshield as thats when it looks the coolest!

anywho, back ion topic, all i can say is, wow, it's come a long way. i remember when you bought it.

Thanks! Yes it has... slowly it's getting to a point where I'm happy!! Just wish I had more cash to dump in it :) Then I'd be able to get the bodykit and supercharger.....

thanks noturday. can i have more for my rootbeer?

yeah, the wing does look a tad ricey. i guess that doesn't matter though, because it's not a ricer anyway. i bet you could hustle some people with it. until you get some new rims, then it won't work anymore.

TheB1GDude
12-14-2008, 03:35 PM
I don't think ricey is the right term.... its part of an import style wide body kit so yes it is a little on the large side but its not like I went and mounted a huge wing on a Saturn or Civic :)

the wing IMO would look much better with a different set of wheels. you have the nice classis old school muscle car wheels on a car with some new age tuner mods, like the wing... it clashes... If the wheels were different i think it would look just fine.

eitherway the stripes look sick! keep up the good steady work!

yeah, b1g, that's what i meant. i'm just tired and, well, i guess i have no excuse. i guess i probably meant to say "out of place."

Yeah I know that the current wheels and rims don't really match so wheels will probably be my next purchase, I've been looking at some clearance bundles tires and rims, 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rears for about 1100 bucks....

1100 bucks isnt bad at all. Id be jumping on those if its what you want!

I have to buy a few other pieces for TPMS to work correctly so it ends up being a little more than that, add that to the fact that I dont have 1100 bucks and we aren't getting anywhere very fast!! But hopefully I'll be able to snag a set!

Thanks! I'm really happy with how the stripe turned out... it makes the car even more of head turner... :)

That would be mine Silver Punch Buggy.... although if you think I look cramped in the Mustang you should see me in that!! :) Which is why my beloved finance gets to drive it.... unless of course its snowing and Walmarts car park is empty..... such as now....

But wouldn't that parking lot be much more fun in the RWD Mustang rather than a FWD Bug? Unless I just totally didn't get what you were saying.. Lol.

Whats to understand..... I snow-drift in a Silver VW Beetle in Walmarts car park because I don't want to damage my car....

Oh come on! Much more fun in the RWD car. Ask my firebird, that wet parking lot down the road, and the cheap rear tires it had. Plus it teaches you good recovery skills..

Oh don't worry I'll do it in the Mustang just not at Walmart... those massive concrete blocks that hold the lamp posts up just will not buff out when you wrap your car around them, so I'll find a better place :)
