Your dad still has the car I'm guessing? Nice tribute project. Like I might of told I might make a tribute Mustang body because of my first car being a Mustang. Thats a cool model to, like that front end on it looks mean:) Does your dads have that chin spoiler on it?

restored cars are cool to, if it was all original it would be worth a good bit, the car im basing this off of my dad had found in a junk yard, and rebuilt it for like 10 years

i have one qwestion for you blue504life. i have a (model) red mustang 1969 GT500 all put together. and was thinking of making it a xmod. but it came out looking great when i was done. its one of my best models. i was ust wondering if i should go through the trouble of taking it apart. but it would make a nice xmod. idk im kind of troubled on what i should do.

my grandpas is a straight 6. but the body is all painted and in great shape.

if its a nice car and all finished and stuff, i would leave it as is, and find another model kit, take it apart as a last resort, but thats a easy kit to find

Wasnt the mid to late 60's stang inline 6's?

blue504life

Wasnt the mid to late 60's stang inline 6's?

the just mustangs were from factory, the GT had a 289 when it was first introduced, 2 years later the 302 was added to the list, most guys with the late 60s stangs have changed them to fit the big blocks, like my uncle has a 67 coupe with a 351 cleveland (bigger in outer size then the normal 351), my cousin has a 69 fastback with a 351 winser (the smaller of the 351's) my dad put a 5.0 in a 66 coupe about a year ago, but it was basicly just a 302 in the car

ya he pretty much summed it up.

Well when the mustang came out they had an option with an inline 6 or a 289 v8 and later a 302. Then in 1968 the cobra jet came out with a 428 which was the fastest production mustang until the 2000 cobra r.

The project appears to be turning out really great i would love to make one of my actual car but have yet to find a 67 coupe model.

well i just learned something, but im pretty sure there was no 428 cobra jet i think it was 429 cobra jet

thanks, my uncle has a 67 coupe its the same as the 66, just buy this kit if you want to do that

Well then i guess we both learned something because i had no idea there was a 429 cobra jet but there is in fact a 428 i have wanted one for so long but really expensive.

dont hold me to it, but im pretty sure there is one, if your looking for something with power, just get a 390, and through a cam in it, it would be just as bad as a 428

Ya that would have been a good idea but i have a 67 289 and was eventually planning on doing an engine swap for a crate motor. Sorry this thread got pretty off topic.

i think a 351 is about the biggest you can fit with out much moding, i dont care about off topic its still about the 65-68 mustangs

supraboi97
08-03-2008, 10:52 PM
Ya i was thinking about a 351 windsor but a brand new crate motor will run for quite a pretty penny. So it would probably just be better to spend all the money on restoring it further and not going for a bigger engine.
