I've also been looking into a new project, but I have no money at the time. But like I said to you before, I will try to find somebody that'll do a build off with you.

Edit: TheXmodifyer, arent you going to build something also ?? I dont think its fair that you have to choose, I think it should be like a competition, but no actual prize. I think all the members should have there right to vote(this is not a speech from a person running for president, lol).

unsanctioned build offs are a recipe for diaster from the staff POV.
best bet is to get a (non-entering)mod involved and have them regulate the build off to keep it fair.
a third party,if you will.

have a few convo's with a mod and get a set of rules going to fit the build.

im not saying that you have to but it might go over a bit better if you did.:bigwink:

Agreed.

However, Bondo is not part of the staff any longer.

But, I do not see a problem with him supervising this. If he would like to take this he's welcome. But, if he would like to enter into this build off, I would be glad to take this buildoff off of his hands since I will not be entering. Your call, Bondo.

07-17-2008, 01:05 AM
no offense but i have to say no thank you...
i was only trying to point you guys in the right direction.
since i'm no longer staff, i can't rightfully supervise something like this nor do i wish to enter.
you should look for a staff member who would be unbiased towards all entrants.

i can offer advise(if needed) on how to run this successfully but i dont want the resposibility.:roll_eye:

TheXmodifyer
07-17-2008, 11:57 AM
Yeah, we absolutely need someone to moderate this competition. And I'll stop taking body entries by..say the 25th? And then Ill make a voting thread for every member on XMS to vote on and see what to build. But question for you guys: Would you rather see two of the same bodies or two different? I think two same would be a hell of alot more fair.

July 25th? Wow, that's a very quick deadline when you just announced this yesterday. I'd say at least go until August 25th. That allows more time for people to build something up to par with the rest as well as a little wiggle room incase something goes wrong along the way. But, that's just my $0.02.

TheB1GDude
07-17-2008, 12:22 PM
OK I'll supervise it then!

Lets play it like this:

1. By tomorrow I want a final decision on the class:

1- Muscle
2- Old Trucks
3- New trucks
4- Tuners
5- Anything!!

Do you want a voting thread to determine this or decide amongst yourselves?

2. By July 25th I want a definite list of you will be entering - once I have this I will create a new thread that you can post progress pictures into, you are also free to create your own build thread.

3. Start work on your car as soon as you make the decision to enter.

4. August 25th will be the deadline, at which point you must post completed pictures in the build thread.

5. August 26th to August 31st will be the voting period.

Let me know if thats two many rules for you... I want to keep this fun but I also want it to be sensible.

zippo855
07-17-2008, 09:10 PM
i'd join in on the buildoff. imo the best bet would be a voting thread to determine the type of build.

OK well tomorrow is today and I want that final decision on what type of car qualifies for this build off based on what everyone has said so far it really does look like muscle is the winner so unless anyone has an issue with that (in which case they have until the end of today to voice their opinion) that is what we are going for.....

TheXmodifyer

hey B1G, can we gat a list of the people that are entering and their cars for quick reference?

i think that everyone that is entering should make a new post here(even if you already stated) stating what car they'll be building.

we dont need all of the details, just the year, model and chassis.

example:
please use this template so B1G can simply copy and paste for a comprised list.(saves him some typing;))

please go back and read the rules of this build off.
it is for MODEL BODIES!
this means you buy a model body and fit it to an Xmod and build it **** near from scratch, hence the term buildoff....

go ahead and build your civic.
keep it a top secret project until the next OFFICIAL comp rolls around.
it might just be suited for a class that the civic fits.(imports,tuners,sedans,Etc.)
i can tell you that a civic Xmods body brakes two of the original guidlines laid out for this buildoff.

sorry for the double post but i just wanted to point out that this is one of the reasons that i suggested this be moderated by the staff.
the sanctioned comps are being comprimised by people trying to find loopholes or not reading the simple rules, so i knew it would eventually happen here aswell.
READ and UNDERSTAND the rules before hitting that send button.
remember, post count means nothing. people remember you by how you carry yourself online and by not reading what your replying to, your making yourself look like a tool.
i hate to say that online rep means something but that's the way it works.
you're nothing but a name online so your job is to make that name memorable.......the reasons and how you go about it are up to you....:uhoh: :bigwink:

Very true Bondo. Lots of people seem to skim through the rules, and then ask a stupid question that wouldve been answered if they actually read the rules.

Slightly off-topic, but I heard that some background checks for pre-employment are starting to look into forums and stuff that you post on. Its only a matter of time before the government stuffs cameras in our faces 24/7.

Haha. I dont really understand it either. Maybe they just skim to see what the forum is about and get the general idea of it. Just to make sure you arnt on some anarchist or satanic forum or something like that.

I really want to do a Model body buildoff! There would be no reward, just some bragging rights and a sweet *** car once you're done. I'll do any class.
1- Muslce
2- Old Trucks
3- New trucks
4- Tuners
5- Anything!! :dblfin:

i guess im doing the civic then but im not planning on entering it on any contest. i have a 1/28 chevy xtreme but it is longer than the chassis.

Nice try, but if you read the whole thing, which is what we are talking about now, you would realize those were just ideas for the competition. As in, we could have a muscle car comp (which was what won) or we could do old trucks. All you did was skim the first post and you misinterpreted it. AND the Civic is an xmod shell, so its still against the rules because its not a model body!

You already asked, and it was rejected.

A Saleen s7 is NOT a muscle car. Neither is a Honda Civic!

sorry everyone. i just came back from cutting 2 acres of grass with a push lawnmower in 98F heat breathing gas fumes. i nearly had to go to the ER for the fumes. I could barely breath and i was a bit "high" and i had a rash on my chest and neck and i felt dizzy. sorry everyone  and i have a fever right now. so this is why i acted like an a$$

You're* (sorry, had to do it.)

Anyway, Im not that new. Ive been here 7 months, I just dont post 100 messages per day. Plus, Ive been on other forums before, and I know how to handle myself online, unlike most people...

There seem to be a lot of people getting into this... I may be over my head here. Oh well, my project will at least gain some recognition.

Woah woah, first off, if you're going to show disrespect I do not want you in my competition. And what are you trying to imply by saying, "i know how to handle myself online unlike most people..".

So has everyone that wants to enter entered?

Slow down. Im sorry if you took that as disrespectful, I wasn't trying to be. And I was implying that I dont go around acting like an idiot online, I dont pick fights on the internet, I dont type like I dropped out of Elementary school, I can spell very well, and so on. None of this was directed towards you, and again, Im sorry if you were offended by it.

The length of a members existence and their post count aren't necassarily correlating accounts of the members contribution. Look at Fordman, for example, he has been around a long time and has many posts yet as contributed very little aside from comic relief and the occasional ill-advised mod bashing.

We have been getting some new members that need to be taught the ways of the forum, but there are also some that come in fully adept to the online enviroment.

Xmodifyer, you really don't need to be playing mod and telling someone what opinion they can or cannot have. If you look right past his post there is a supermod that totally agreed with his statement as that particular new member does need some training to exist on this forum.

At that, let's put this new member/veteran baby to bed and get to the comp.
