well, i got bored today and headed to a little hobbyshop and picked up their last minibaja. $164 after tax, wasn't too bad. but anyways, this is actually going to be my first 1/18 project, i do have a mini LST, but it performs well enough for me atm. here's some pics of the baja.

only plans for it right now are to install a complete aluminum chassis conversion and i ordered some street tires, i want to make it more road friendly.

Looks sweet! What kind of other mods are you going to do? Brushless?

I really wanted to get a mini baja a while back. But sadly, I think Im losing interest in RC...:(

=0 i was playing with it on the road this morning and the knobbies in the back don't do a great job of hooking up on asphalt...i was turning, lost traction and put it in a ditch full of water XD I pulled it out and it quit working, didn't steer, didn't throttle...i sprayed some electrical parts cleaner/moisture displacer in it and cleaned it up as good as i could and it still didn't work, sooo...i wound up checking all my connections, the connector from the ESC to the radio receiver was loose and that did the trick =)

It's probably because these are more mainstream and common, whilist Xmods are only accepted in a small niche. More sold = Lower price. I wish it was like that with gas...

Nice looking baja, My LHS had them out of stock for quite a while and once they got them in stock the only had silver. i really wanted the blue one like yours, it shines alot more almost like a metallic paint. Would it be alright if posted a pic or two?

i wanted the black/white one, but all he had was 2 blue ones...oh well, it matches my MLST. paintball is cool, hard to find time for though, and extremely hard to get everybody on the same page for a game around here.

Get a Losi Lipo its the best upgrade by far. They take a hour to charge.

Very cool. Looks nice. The tires look different from the micro version. the charge time on that is outrages but it pays off doesn't it?the micro is like 20-25 mins.

I got my dt about 2 weeks ago. Only got threaded axles and going to get some ceramic bearings and an atomic bb soon.

hey civicblack, what kinds of shocks are those? they look badass...

this is the ESC/BL combo im getting...
http://www.losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB9563

the chassis i posted above is in the mail, so the whole thing will be aluminum...

these are the rims i ordered for it F and R
http://www.rcplanet.com/RPM_Spider_Spoke_Wheel_Mini_T_p/rpm73202.htm

and next on the list is LiPo and titanium spur/pinion gears...i orderd a hard plastic spur/pinion set to see which combo i like better before i order the titanium stuff.

civicblack10
07-06-2008, 07:26 PM
lol, thanks there they gpm alloy silver adjustable threaded shocks and they come with purple(hard) springs and yellow(soft) for both F&R. Im going to get the new mamba micro pro 8000kv motor and esc and better battery in a little bit, and if that isnt fast enough ill bump her up to a 3S Li po and eventually the CF chassis and full alloy kit. Even stock she rips in the sand, it can climb steep hills with the paddles. I havent found any downsides on this car other then the stock battery charger, which can easily be replaced. If your looking for one i would check out the losi mini peak, im getting one soon, It seems pretty good.

Nice, so is that a fibreglass chassis? so you got the blue integy alloy package? Whats the alloy like, shiny or dull? ive never ordered anything other then GPM racing although im probably going to get the integy silver alloy kit. Looks like yours is going to be a real beast.

suicide_star
07-07-2008, 09:41 PM
the finish on the integy kit is pretty shiny. i was looking at their graphite chassis, but the gpm one looks more thorough and sturdy, and they're about the same price.

Hey Suicide, Are you having problems with your battery getting too hot??? I was running mine last week and started to notice the heat shrink wrapping had a small hole in the side(it also started losing lots of power and run time), i ignored it and kept charging it and driving it, Finally today i was driving it and the battery pack got so hot that it melted the heat shrink wrapping and the cell inside(bottom left, second one in), started expanding, once i took it out after it was dead i noticed it, and it was making fizzing sounds and i literally whipped the burning hot battery out the window. i have no idea what was wrong with the pack it was less than a half a year old and i always unplugged it when the low voltage cutoff kicked in.

****, its the stock 7.4V losi battery? mine hasn't got hot yet, but i haven't ran it that hard...

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j265/rhodified/Picture230-2.jpg
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j265/rhodified/Picture231-2.jpg

here's the motor...http://www.losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB9563
9400 kV Xcelorin which will be powered by a 7.4V lipo, if i can still control the car, i'll move up to an 11V lipo.

zippo855
07-15-2008, 07:19 PM
looks sick, from what i have heard the 7.4 lipo in these make it nuts fast. so i can imagine what the 11 v would do. if you do go with the 11, get some vids, and some tires that have a decent amount of tread. with the luck i have it would be shred the tires in 1 run. lol. good progress though, can't wait to see it complete.

im not really 100% sure wth the chassis is  it was in GPM packaging and said MEGAFIBER CHASSIS...it probably is though. ohh...just ordered...GPM alloy oil filled shocks, alloy dogbones+axles, alloy 60T spur gear, alloy slipper clutch, 3racing ball differential, team losi aluminum pinions 11,12,13,14 tooth...hopefully the chassis can take a beating from the motor.

just a quick update...i bought a retro losi baja body for it and i ordered some 1/10 touring wheels (street tires!) and adapters, so it'll catch a better grip and increase the top speed. i also ordered a rear sway bar to help with those hard turns. i'll have pics up this weekend, this thing is turning out to be quite the moneypit! but it'll all pay off in the end =)

i plan to, the setup is going to have too much power to try and control it offroad, so i want to lower the stance a bit and hopefull those bigger wheels help with any traction issues.

Nice Suicide! Slick lookin ride bro! Just be careful with Integy, it is known to bend and not bend back. I don't buy Integy at all. Friends have had bad experiences.

the integy parts seem pretty rigid for aluminum, the weakest link in this would probably be the GPM fiber chassis, but it's pretty stout also. i'm having trouble w/ the esc right now, it was supposed to be pre-programmed out of the box, but it wouldn't even power up when i put the battery on it. after 10 minutes of fooling with the programming i finally got it to light up but i had to calibrate it to the receiver. well, that worked out ok, but it won't go in reverse...it'll haul *** forward (at 89KMH on the speed checker) and it also brakes, but it won't go reverse :-? im shooting horizon an email to see what the deal is.
