In August of 07 right before my return to college I came up with the idea of building a super speedway out of plywood. So around late october we had the track complete enough to run on. The dimensions are 19ft long by 9 ft wide. The track is 2 ft wide the whole way around. Painted black with a checkered start finish and grid markers. The outer wall is made from door/window foam that is about 3 inches wide 3 layers thick for rigidness. The banking was supposed to be 27 degrees but after completion we took a digital scale to it and it only came out to 25 plus or minus. We have been running on the track for a while now adding things to it like logos on the outside wall and putting pit boxes in the center. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to start looking for mechanical grip. Thus far my mods have been this: I put a nice homemade wing on that I made from a sheet of aluminum, I purchased the tire sets and found a combination that works well with soft and stock (the hard were like ice and the combination of how they are on my car is my little secret :p ) What has been running through my mind are ideas about adding a small balast in the car, tuning the suspension with the upgrade and ??? Lets hear your suggestions

You could use this to drift...

Um, anyways, you might need to widen your stance. Use the tutorial to widen your axle stubs and it might help with your handling. Or, find a way to glue 2 wheels together so there's a bit more traction.

Here's a deep dish rims tutorial:

Wider axles (it's for trucks but could be applicable for cars):
