Wanna go fast? Wanna dust your friend's xmod? Having trouble fitting all the cells in your car to reach your ultimate voltage? Go to lithium ion cells. Rob and http://www.atomicmods.comwill help you.
Li-ion is very power dense. So dense that you get 3.6V out of each AA size cell, and 670mAh to boot. That is awesome!! With only 2 of them you can get to 7.2V(8.4 off of the charger), and you need 6 AAA rechargeables to do this. That is an awesome gain in power/weight ratio.

Visit Rob's site right now and see the testimonials and videos. You'll be convinced that they are by far the best cell upgrade you can apply, barnone.

I've applied this cell technology to this.....a 14.4V(16.8V off of the charger) dragster, with a 5V regulator wired in to save the control board and receiver from frying.

Email me at [email protected] to find out how you can also do this to your xmod. Make me an offer, and if it is favorable I will build you a regulator and give you technical consultation on applying it. The application of the regulator is not all you'll need. You're going to need the power to necessitate such a modification. Your choices are either to strap a Sears DieHard to your xmod or go to www.atomicmods.com and talk to Rob.

Go to www.atomicmods.com and talk to Rob. Tell him that I sent you.

This is at about 15.2V. Epoxy wasn't keeping the tires from popping off, so I taped them for the speed check. The tape also makes for a more accurate speed recording as the bulging of the tires would make the diameter of the tire bigger, thus making it move more distance per revolution, which would give a false speed reading.

By the math, I should be able to hit about 68kph at 16.8V. We'll see though. Just in case you were wonderin' 68kph is equal to 42mph. At 15.2V however, it is hitting about 39mph. :P

AWD is the only way to go. Even with stock battery setup and motor, the car is hard to get a good take-off on smooth surfaces and you lose your rear end on turns just too much. The car should have been sold with AWD, but it was a good way to get another 15 bucks out of us. As far as needing a steel bumber, lol, that just depends on your driving. My body has plenty of scratches, no mirrors, and cracks in a couple places, but that's nothing a little super glue can't handle. :)

HobbyTown USA has them. Look on EBAY too. It's made by Tamiya.
