Hello XMS !!!

I recently bought a Vette beater body(a messed up gen.1 roller came also),and as some of you may know,I don't like to keep nice muscle cars looking in such bad shape.I also have a Firebird body,I'm going to do that prolly over the summer(I want to take a very long/nice time to work out everything).

I do need some body parts for the Vette, like maybe a front bumper,2 headlight covers(not the see-through ones),2 side mirrors.I might not buy them,so I'm open for donations if possible. The chassis is prolly going to stay like it is now, because I dont got any money to fix it up,and to buy new parts for it.

For the Vette body color,I'm really thinking of glossy red(my uncle has a Vette, and I would like it to look the same way,or almost, his is glossy red).I might send it to somebody to do stripings or some body decals, but I dont know yet.

I've sanded down the body, but I used a really rough sand paper,so I'll have to get some better sand paper.I also need some bondo or body filler, because I hate the Vette spoilers,to me they look really ugly(just my opinion).

Here are some recent pictures:

not a bad start bro, if you have the clear headlight covers you can just paint them when you paint the rest of the car, they are exactly the same as the stock ones (in fact the stock ones are clear plastic painted silver) it should look good in red, sporty color for a sporty car. keep it up man

The clear headlight covers are on the vette body right now,you can also see in the pictures.I kinda want to keep the clear headlights, for when I mght get another vette body.

123Vette,that paint was not good,it was rough, the skirts were kinds painted to the body,no mirrors, various scratches on the body, and there are 4 large holes in the front bumper grille.

Well,I went to paint the body, and the black paint came out all blochy.A brand new can!!! To bad I cant take it back.I got some other black paint, but only a lil of it,hopefully I have enough.

123vette: I personally think that that blue just isn't right for a vette no matter how well laid the paint is. I think snowboi1289 is on to something with have it red, in my opinion I would say like a marroon, would look more like a vette if red. To me that blue just doesn't look right for some reason. Will be a cool looking car once done, keep us posted

I will say, that blue color was a nice choice(my uncle had another vette a long time ago,and it was a lil bright blue than that, but it was pretty nice).
I'm fixing to lay out a new small black coat for the windows.

Thanks for the comments. The black paint is finished, and I might need to sand down the body and windows again,I see some deep scratches still there.

Well, its getting the paint on ok,I taped the windows as best as i could (its not the best of my masking, but its ok).

I have yellow, red and white paint.I kinda wanted to do a small stripe on the bottum(above the skirts),but I cant figure what might look best.I know yellow and red isnt the best choice, but some other peoples might think its a good choice.Dont say red and black,I'm still mad, that guy wont give me another,***(he's the one that sold it to me,yes it was in a store).

What do you think, small yellow stripe or small white stripe,or no stripe at all ??

Its almost done.Do you think if I get a ep for it,I should enter it in the competition ??

noturday
05-11-2008, 12:01 AM
no stripe dude, stripes always end up ricey on 'vettes. we'll have to see some pics of it before we can know if it's competition worthy or not. until then you are the only one who can decide that.

snowboi1289
05-11-2008, 12:46 AM
You all are the voters,so you all should say if its competition worthy(not trying to be mean).I know if I had my Firebird done, you all would love it,but I want it to be PERFECT.

I'm going to try to get a picture of my uncles Vette.

noturday, just picture your Vette, with a lighter red.. It will prolly have the same wheels, its will have the same wheels for now but I dont know bout in the future.

noturday
05-11-2008, 11:46 AM
deffinately stick with those wheels. either that or find some stock ones. those are just about the only wheels that look good on vettes. the g35 ones (the ones you have on it now) kind-of resemble C5 Z06 wheels. and since the xmod body is a C5 it fits well. im pretty sure i started that whole trend with the g35 rims on the vette haha.

is the red you're using a metallic red as well? the maroon on my vette is, i was going for a 50th anniversary red on mine, and if i had had all of the stock parts on the targa body i did it would have been the same color, and not a beater body.

snowboi1289
05-11-2008, 02:36 PM
Nope, mine is just gloss red.I'm fixing to spray 1 clear coat, and let it site for approx. 3-6 hours, then spray one last clear coat, then wait about a day or 2,then it should almost be done.I'll try to get pictures today.

I'm really mad.The reason why,is the paint is bad,it looks like crap. The hood doesnt fit right, and the new front knuckles I just took off one of my otherr gen.1 chassis is now broken. It didnt come out as planned at all !!!

I'll try to get some pictures of the almost dead Vette.

I got the pictures last night, but I was tired, and went to sleep.I uploaded the pictures to photobucket. And now you all can see the pictures of the almost dead Vette.

Look at the rear window, the headlight cover, and hood.

123Vette
05-18-2008, 03:58 PM
looks ok lots of orange peel and your missing some paint on the hood there

snowboi1289
05-18-2008, 04:33 PM
Orange peel ?? Its red. The hood got stuck on the body, and when I got it off, some paint also came off,and you can see that its not good masking at all,but it looked like perfect masking when I put the tape on.

123Vette
05-18-2008, 06:35 PM
orange peel is a term for wavy/bumpy paint, not the color of the car....

jc6711

paint it glossey black, and then put chrome rims on it.

snowboi1289
05-18-2008, 09:46 PM
If you actually read my first post then you would know I'm going to paint it clossy red,its red,and staying red.
