Brass Wheel Holder

I don't wants to buy a lot of Hummer H2 body kit because they have cool wheel holder. So I decide to build my own from brass.
Here are couple pictures so far, more update and more pictures coming soon. :D

I guess I'll be first to post. Awesome idea. I might wanna try it...if I ever get a new Hummer body. You really won't like what you see if you love XMODs and Hummers. Lets just say down 20 foot stair case, off 20 foot edge many times over summer. Lol just picture it. (it really happened but my camera memory card is getting screwy in my comp.)

can be painted easy, or does it chip off (or does it depend on what the paint is meant for?)

It depends on the preparation of the metal, if it's smooth the paint will not stick as well. Sand it down lightly like you would with a new hood or other body part before you paint. Clear coat after to protect the finish. :bigwink:

Thanks guys!

I going to paint with metal paint from local hardware store and shouldn't be that hard. I seen people paint their brass chassis at Scale 4x4 forum and don't see have any problem with it. I'm going to try make two of them, second one will to donate for competition coming up in the future.

:bigwink: Updates! :bigwink:

I spend couple hours work on the custom build brass wheel holder last night. Finally I gets done and know that it is not that perfect square. It is my very first time solder brass in my life. I can weld bigger stuff but not that small. However, I'm getting used it and takes a lot of practices to get better at it. So I going to make few more wheel holder for other Hummer H2 I have in my collection. I thinking about to make couple of them and sell it here or at eBay. Here are pictures....

The brass wheel holder looks good, but I think you should mount the wheel lower.

It looks pretty good for a scratch built piece. And your SUT project looks like it is coming along nicely. Are you going to put a bed in it or put on a bed cover?
