well, it happened... to make it worse, i was literally waiting to go out and buy cod4. now i have to miss the release of gta4, the happy tree friends game, and knowing my luck, the mail-order demo disk it comes with will arrive on monday. the xbox was under warranty so i sent it back, but i have a question: will they do anything about my xbox live? my friend had his gone for 3 months. that's $20 down the drain if i don't get it paused or something...

...I never understood this, people know what the problem is heat, and overuse. Why wouldnt you buy an intercooler, if you did, then why would you play for so long striaght or perhaps shove your box into that close space inside your cabinet.

I have had 7 Xbox 360's over the period they were released, i currently own two for no reason...and have yet to have a problem with any of them. Whats wrong here:

-I dont shove mine into a cabinet, where it can get hot. or i take it out when i want to play with it.

-ill take a break every so often to let it cool down

-I always have an intercooler attached

- i make sure its upright and the vents arn't blocked

-and the one time i was doing the two hour blitz, with my friend on the original halo on ledgendary, i put an extra "pit fan", the ones they uswe to cool down air compressors on constreuction sites to keep my box cool.

There is no reason microsoft should be blamed, they cre losing so much money because of this, but mostly its just stupid people, i agree some are messed up from the factory but others are perfectly fine until people abuse them.

Their delicate machinery, not a hand grenade.

I have microsoft shares and am personally losing money do to this xbox fault...

Why would you say Microsoft isn't to blame? The first year they had a staggering 30ish% failure rate. And do you know why? Because Microsoft didn't do proper testing on the consoles, rushed it out to the market, and provided a sub-par performing machine.

I understand that they can get abused and Microsoft isn't to blame for those, but the bulk of the problems are due to Microsoft quality control issues. They have improved their failure rate down to around 16%, but in my opinion that is still to high.

For your shares, it also doesn't help that Microsoft lost the Blu-ray/HD war with Sony, that was a huge blow for them.

meme- i do exactly what you said, and i never play for more than 45 minutes straight. my breaks last from 1-12 hours. so i do blame microsoft. now i have two dead xboxes in my room, and one of them will never work again. i want to sell it for parts, maybe get 5 bucks... at any rate it's not my fault at all.

Lol, that statement means a lot, jus because you could've messed up your TV doesn't mean you have to hate all over the PS3, because there wasn't the three rings of death, Sony designed their machinery clearly more user friendly, how many people run watercoolers with the PS3, and how many with the 360?

Wow man, a little defensive there. I'm not really sure why you're telling me to get a life, I made a joke and stated some facts about Microsoft. Is it my fault that Microsoft is slowly going down the toilet? No, they are doing it to themselves by always rushing products to the market. Sony may have screwed you on the TV or whatever but how many people have had the pleasure of dealing with: 1. the blue screen of death or 2. the red ring of death.

That's a real quality company there.

And that's all I have to say about this because I have no intention of starting or carrying on a console war.

Ok here's what you all should do,sell all your playstations and xbox stuff,and save up to buy a real car,so you dont have to spend money on stuff that you will never even get to drive or get to fight or something..

If all of you like to play video games and such,just play it for like 2 hours and take an hour break,my friend plays his xbox non-stop for a hole day,and the only reason why it didnt break,was because it was in front of the air conditioner(the air was on nearly 65),so I think sooner or later it'll burn up..

You got it all wrong and backwards buddy, the 360 is the one that has horribly loud fans, and gets hot. The PS3 is nice and smooth, and I know this because I have compared both of them while playing COD4. Not to mention, everyone in my family that has a 360 has had to return it at least once. The 360 sounds like the disc is about to fly out, and all those rattling noises that it makes.

Althought the Original Xbox's are solid. I've had mine running for days, in all kinds of positions. Still runs solid.

But, leave some room on the sides and don't get it dusty. It's not that hard. They could have made it bigger like the original and had it run cooler, but then it would have been bigger. And these days, Smaller is Better (See: Gameboy Micro).

The new 360's and the Elite have better cooling though.

To be honest, just talk to an employee of MicroSoft, then ask them if you can mail it in, or email them.

Then mail it to them, they might charge you a little or a lot for a new one.

I did this before, for my PS2, but it costed like 90 bucks to get fixed...best of luck to you.

it should be free, my friend kyle called them and it taken them 3 weeks to send a box, and the employee when crazy one the phone telling kyle to shut up it was funny, but if you call them make sure they sand out that box asap because it takin kyle 1 month to have another xbox.

Lol didnt mean to call you out specifically, just happened that way, im just ****ed off about the scenario i was put into with sony otherwise i had nothing against them. I was fine with the PS3, i just preffered xbox, but now im avoiding sony tv's and the PS3 like the plague.

Other than that theres not much else that sony makes that you can avoid, Boomboxs perhaps? LOL:)
