Well i have 2 97 cents f-150's so i thought. Why not make a low rider out of one and then sell it later. The plans for the other one nothing. IT is just a body no chassis.

i am working on one side for now. So i have a plan for the other.

Any paint ideas? I have the head/tail lights painted black(one cracked and the black hides it)

all comments welcome

you could do metallic red with gold pinstripes and rims. that would be killer.

Well this thing is not going on a chassis. (both my chassis are crawlers) Yea i was thinking of doing a red or blue.

try a black metallic paint, or a paint job similar to this one...

That looks cool. I might just send it to bondo or someone else so they can mess around with the paint. I am not concerned with the paint yet. It will have the truck bed cover and the wing. Plans for this thing. is either gonna be a shelf queen or sell it.

THanks,
this project might take awhile. I have to finish my other crawler and i am making another crawler.

update:
it is sanded down a bit more with another layer of putty. Going to start the other side later today.

you should use green bondo, its lightweight for plastic such as xmods bodies. it works better than putty.

Update:
Well the body is starting to look like a car not a pile of putty. I have started the front bumper now with another layer of putty on the rough spots.

Update:
My camera is charging so no pics. I have the front bumper done(as in framed) and i am starting the other side. I say it looks very good. THe front view: it looks mean and it has a wide body kit. THe side view: supra inspired rear fender vent and a wide body kit.

Update: these are some older pics. I have done a little bit more enjoy

3/24/08 Update:
Well i didn't wait long enough for the putty to dry so it broke off. I got it fixed. The other side of the car is coming along. Almost exactly like the other side

i have never used putty on a xmod so im still kinda wounder how this will look....do you sand it down and stuff ?? and does it breack off easy ?

fieldfairy2

Yes you sand it down to the shape you want and re apply till you get the desired look. It does break off easily if you haven't given it enough time to dry. Otherwise no it doesn't.

Update:
It really is coming along. Starting to look better. The 2 sides are starting to look similar. THe hood is close to done.

i have been focusing on the vents and the front bumper. not the wheel wells.

Looks nice, I LOVE the hood. Are you going to add functional scoops?

fieldfairy2

thanks,
what do you mean by functional scoops? i believe you are talking about cutting a hole in the back so are can move through. If that is so. I might but i don't know.

Update:

I know that i haven't updated this thread because there really wasn't a point till i was done so.. I am done here:

This is not my best work. Put i would give it a pass. THe hood cracked. Well painting.(don't know why) so i puttied it and sanded it. Well it doesn't sand too well. I don't have a chassis for this thing.

thanks, All comments welcome.

i like that red color, but why is it not on the back

fieldfairy2
04-16-2008, 08:01 PM
Thanks,

The reason the candy apple red didn't go all the way around the back is because. 1. I only had the front view of the paint scheme(google images) 2. I thought it would be different. Instead of a continuous red I think it makes the taillights look better. (idk)

That's a great looking paint scheme!

I would have kept it without any bodywork, but it's your truck...

Overall, the bodywork could use some work, or just be left out, but the paint is really good. :D

With practice, your bodywork will look better. ;)

that's prolly one of the best paint jobs I have ever seen, was a nice change from people who paint their cars to look like whales.:p

Thanks guys,

I definatly could of done better body work. I kind of rushed it and i am working on some other secret projects.(not telling!!!)

It is a silver and transparent candy apple red two tone. I used testors. I used Kaze's red but with a thicker coat.

THe hood has been dropped at least 3 times and every time it has cracked. hasn't fell off. The primer didn't sand too well. Over all i think it is good. You might see it on ebay soon. I don't have a chassis and not really a use for it. (this is not for sale or trade, on this website!!!!, only ebay)
